- Activate bluetooth connection and handsfree profile in your Audi with MMI 3G system. All cars with Multi Media Interface 3rd generation are equipped with bluetooth, some just need activation which you can do for free, without adding any hardware.
This can be done in Audi A1, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q3, Q5 and Q7.
This procedure requires diagnostic tool like VCDS, VAG-COM or VAS to perform [5F-Control Head] adaptation on one channel.

this definately works!! thank you so much.. i have a 2010 audi a5 2.0 diesel sportback and followed instructions. the only thing was i had to activate hidden menu via vcds first. saved me £300 odd for a retrofit!

+luigig44 2011 Audi Q7 with MMI 3G system has the bluetooth module installed from factory. You just need to activate it. Worst case scenario you need to retrofit microphone in the dome light.

Audi RMC is not the same as Audi MMI 3G. We don't have experience with the RMC system yet so really can't tell what can be done in your car...

You have MMI 2G, that will need to be retrofitted with bluetooth module and microphone, then recoded.

+MASKIDANA Audi is cutting costs by releasing only one device with integrated bluetooth and just activates it if needed (payed by customer).
It does not have to be ross-tech cable - you can use any diagnostic interface as long as it can communicate and perform coding and adaptation changes in VAG cars. Cheap $5 obd2 cables won't work...

+MASKIDANA The thing is that I'm not sure about those cheap devices. VCDS from Ross-Tech will work, so is X431 from Diagun but those are designed for car service garages and are not cheap. There are some knockoffs available but can't really say if work with cars as should...

If you don't have one, then you probably don't have MMI 3G system.

***** as far as I know, A3 8V does not use MMI 3G system. It looks very similar but the hardware is completely different. It most likely needs additional bluetooth module and possibly microphones.

I upper right you should have [0|1] icon. When you press it you should see byte/bit view instead of the options list.
@@mrfixpl I can see those, but I don't know which module and bit since I cannot enter the '5F' thingy and the 'read' thing. I can go to Electronics-Information (I think it's that one) and then I can do 'coding' or 'adaptations'.
Are you sure that you have MMI 3G in your car? If you have different setup (like Symphony Radio) then there will be no device with 5F address. 5F is reserved for MMI 3G. Other systems use address 56 (Radio) or 07 (Head Unit MMI 2G).
And this mod is for MMI 3G only.

OK, so if I remember correctly you should connect with the car,
then, after the automatic scan is done, go to list of all installed modules by pressing blue circles with three lines on it,
then scroll down to desired module (look for the 5F address in the little circle in the upper right corner of the graphics),
then select Coding or Long Coding,
switch view to byte/bites mode,
select desired byte,
toggle desired bit,
press and hold check mark to send new coding to car.
I should make a tutorial for OBDeleven and long coding.

All Multi Media Interface 3G unit are equipped with bluetooth build-in to the head unit. It's cheaper for Audi to include BT chip inside every unit than have two different version of the hardware. They decided that those who don't won't to pay for the BT will have it disabled and those who pay extra enabled.

Hands-Free profile and Advanced Audio Distribution profile are two separate things. MMI 3G does not support A2DP, which is required for music streaming. There are solutions that will get your music from phone to car stereo wirelessly, like Audi Music Interface adapters.

I finally managed to connect my phone to the car’s bluetooth. I can clearly hear what the others said but the others just can’t hear any sound from my side. When I changed it back to the mobile phone speaker, the other side can hear. Should I assume my mic in the car is not working or there should be any setting that can activate my mic in car?
You should confirm that your car is equipped with microphone (it was part of GALA - volume goes up with speed/cabin noise).

I have a Audi A6 Avant 3.0 BTDI mod.2016 (software vers. MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3236). How can I activate the stock Audi USB interface in the handrest console so that when I activate SOURCE, the USB choice is shown on the MMI screen in ordeer to play music stored in USB stick. You have Audi A4 B7. That car has Audi RNS-E system, not MMI.
You can install Bluetooth but it requires additional hardware and coding.

Tunc Bildiren well yes and no. This activates only HFP (hands free profile) which is used with phone calls. It streams audio in low quality (for calls it enough), both ways (speaker and microphone). For music streaming there's A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) which was used in optional AMI (Audi Music Interface).

Everything went OK, but after it the navigation system is not working ("The navigation system is not activated."), and the bluetoot also not working ("The bluetooth function is not available."). How can I solve these problems?

2008 most likely have MMI 2G system. Go to CAR > SETPU > VERSION and check SW (software) line. If it starts with HNav or BNav than it's MMI 3G. If it starts with C6-HU or similar, then it's 2G.

I have A6 2010, checked that is MMI 3G and no bluetooth available so I'm trying to activate it, but is not possible to open the green menù.....how is it possible?? there's a new or different combination of buttons??
The green menu also needs to be enabled through VCDS. It's possible it's disabled by your manufacturer. Check another video by mr-fix, he's got a way how to do that.

I've just bought a brand new 2017 Audi A1 that happens to have just an Aux input without Bluetooth and nav being activated.
As presented in this video (czcams.com/video/48Qi17g3PWs/video.html) the MMI RMC interface seems to support bluetooth. As far as I know all the hardware is there, it just needs to be activated. (the microphone that's to be used for handsfree profile is the same one that's used by the GALA function of the radio player).
By your experience do you think that such operation could be done with a VCDS interface without the need of a retrofit?
