- Though you won’t see much from outside the brick wall, Queen lead singer, Freddie Mercury spent his last days here at his house, Garden Lodge 1 Logan Place in Kensington, London. The singer who died from bronchial pneumonia from AIDS, spent his last days with his former partner, Mary Austin, who continues to live at the home. Mercury was diagnosed with HIV in 1987 but kept his condition private until he released a public statement just a little over 24 hours before he passed away on November 24, 1991. Mercury was just 45 years old. The outer walls of Garden Lodge in 1 Logan Place have become a shrine to Mercury, with fans paying tribute by covering the walls with messages for the legendary late singer.
Freddie Mercury never mentioned his sexual orientation when he rarely spoke to the press, but many associates believed it was far from hidden. His performances were very flamboyant on stage, but he was known as an introvert when not performing. In 1985, Mercury began a long-term relationship with hairdresser Jim Hutton. They lived together for the last six years of Freddie Mercury's life and Hutton tested positive for HIV a year before the star's death. He was at Freddie's bedside when he died. Jim Hutton lived on until 2010.
Freddie Mercury stayed silent about AIDs and his own sexual orientation until just before his death. His intention was to protect those close to him in an era in which AIDS carried a heavy social stigma for its victims and their inner circle of friends and acquaintances, but his silence has also complicated his status as a gay icon. Regardless, Mercury's life and music will be celebrated for years to come, both in the gay community and in rock history at large.

I think it shows Freddie happy at home with lovers and friends. What's wrong with that, regardless of sexual orientation? What gets me though is how insecure he was about his smile, you see it here and in other footage whenever he smiles he almost always brings his hand up to cover his mouth. It's a shame he never got over that as he had such a lovely infectious smile.
He was a free spirit. He contracted HIV still moved on bravely. RIP legend, you left the world but your voice will keep ringing in our ears for the coming forever.

Freddie was the greatest frontman of all time! Iconic! He wanted to be a legend and he is....beautiful. These videos leaked on to the web after Jim Hutton died. They are now together in the after life, thank God. Jim, Peter and Joe took care of Freddie while he was ailing and health declined. Mary DID NOT take care of him. In fact right after he died she threw Jim, Peter and Joe out of the house knowing Freddie wanted them to stay there. Read Jim's Book: Mercury and Me it is disgusting what Mary did to Jim. She DID NOT follow Freddie's wishes! Neither did Jim Beach! Now she is a lonely recluse!! Selfishness is a bad thing! Poor Jim! May both be happy in their afterlife together.
Mary treated Freddie terribly, considering his affection towards her at least. It was definitely, at least partly, due to his sexuality, which is just sad. At least he is happy now.

I see there are a lot of new fans in the comments. This footage has been around since at lest 2009 (and part of it is still available on koubiack's channel in the original aspect ratio) when it suddenly surfaced on CZcams. I get a feeling that there is also a homophobic element to what some of you are saying. Jim and Freddie were together for almost 7 years, living at the Garden Lodge for most of them. All of this hate towards Jim needs to stop!

And personally I think the only reason he was mucking around in the bath is because there is a camera there.... which he basically told to piss off when he wanted out of the bath. I've seen that clip elsewhere! All I know is I feel actially very guilty for even watching it. He was a private shy guy and I just want to remember the musician... and the fun they had with that. At first I thought this video was taken by some paparazzi , especially the bit in the garden. the cameraman is behind some branches and it's a zoomed in long distance shot, since you can't hear what they are saying.
But then, they notice the person and wave smiling. I said to myself: ah, that's ok.
Contrary to some here who are disturbed or appalled by some thing or another, I think this vid is quite cute and innocent and doesn't present Freddie in an unpleasant light. I don't think he'd mind having this vid on CZcams.
