Just out of curiosity... did you ever read torque the cylinder head after you had it up to operating temp and did a couple of hard pulls at high boost... while it was hot. That was one of the issues I kept running into and it always pushed a little bit of coolant @ 2 bar but if I turned it down to low boost... 20... I was fine. then someone told me once you got it hot. you need to re-torque it. And so I did that right away after resurfacing the Block and the head and a new head gasket and I haven't had another issue... it's been almost 6yrs. Take that with a grain of salt. I have a closed deck iron block.
I’m doing that as soon as I get home! I’ve done this on exhaust bolts but it never occurred to me for the head. This new motor had a trace of coolant pushing so you might’ve just saved me pulling it again! 😁

I'd love to have this engine in my 97 civic LX. I'm getting ready to build my d16y7 and swap in manual transmission soon. Im broke now so I had to use some goop on my motor mounts 🤣

@@SleeperAccord I could have had the engine and transmission out today but the stupid control arm bolt won't come out, got the nut off but bolt won't pop up out. I got to be careful and not pop out ball joint.

@@Visible-jb2ew yes 🤪 I just got the bolt popped out. I got speed factory no notch rods and vitara pistons I would be installing them but I ordered bearings from parts house without asking what kind it turned out to be dnj rod and main bearings and plus I don't have a cylinder hone. I have a spare block I had honed at machine shop but it set in my other car trunk and rusted the cylinders even though I had oil on them. I think I'll just have it bored out to 76mm and get either king bearings or acl bearings and arp head studs and decent valves, springs and retainers on next stimulus check. I might get one of those block guards and have it tack weld in place and see if that holds. Then I will be ready to hit it with a 150 shot nitrous, ramped in of course. If I can find a y8 cam and upper valve train or rocker assembly I'll drop that in and put vtec locking pins in it. The y8 vtec cam will fit in y7 head but you have to lock the rockers in and plus you get that cam lope like a V8. I would go turbo but there is nothing but 1/8th mile tracks around me, three of them. I should have advantage over alot of turbo civics on the 8th.

Awesome i had a 94 accord 2.2 5 speed. I always knew that engine was capable of so much. It felt pretty quick stock and it was sooooo reliable.
Right? Before i boosted it I noticed these engines have a ton of torque they just need a turbo to assist the airflow and boom v8 killer
