Eric X Li gives a rousing speech on China's rise as the next dominant world superpower. America, supposedly the richest country in the world can't figure out a way to provide healthcare for 15% of it's population. Youth unemployment is above 50% in european member states. The west has dominated world affairs for a couple of centuries, Eric X Li says that maybe that time is coming to an end.

Eric X Li gives a wonderfully considered and thoughtful analysis of People's China and its wish to build a good country for its people and also in the rest of the world. China should be allowed to pursue its path to peaceful Socialism without outside interference.
I take heart from the recent 3rd plenary session, but I hope they address the growing disparity between rich and poor, and they also should do more to enshrine the spirit of Socialism in the ordinary people who want justice and a good, peaceful & prosperous life.

China isn't socialist at all? Lol. China has a state-capitalist economy and has been opening up its country to major foreign direct investment since the 80s. It has a thuggish mafia-esque party structure and its political system functions only because corruption greases its cogs. So if thats what you think "peaceful socialism" is then I guess I'm a bit confused. I lose faith in the left when supposed communists support China. Its quite sad.

Pierre S. well, if you can see the people working behind the curtains in Europe and in America, you'll understand why China/Russia/N Korea/Iran have a "Socialist" inner council.. They basicly don't want to end up like the west.. Before looking at other's homes and critiiesing them why don't you look at your own? and why don't think of WHY, instead of just pointing fingures... most fingers-especially the middle- should be pointed at the arses of the people controlling the west.. look up economic assassins and you'll get a vague idea of what's really going on... it's been told, to never play chess with a Russian ,a Chines , or a Persian.. That much is true.. But local media in the west keep controlling the truth.. as did Hitler.

    1. Rational people should not be doubtful that democracy is failing and hopefully more people will be enlightened in the future..
    2. Looking around the world has manifested an important fact that the U.S. and many European countries are in miserable chaos because of too much freedom but less self-discipline. This is the main " sickness " of democracy , although many people think that " DEMOCRACY AND PLUTOCRACY ARE THE BEST POLITICAL SYSTEM , REGARDLESS OF EACH COUNTRY'S UNIQUE SOCIAL CONDITIONS ".

The problem is not democracy. The world has more than two countries.
