I guess I have to get rid of the Wife ;-)
Actually the louvres in front of the radiator are mostly for cold areas to aid in cold start warmups. I first noticed these in Mercedes cars (if I remember correctly) and I do believe it is a good idea.
I’ve got a 2007 Ford F-150 FX4. The only time I took it to the Shop was last year for them darn Spark Plugs. It runs like a champ still no other issues. Mine was definitely “Built Ford Tough”.
I have a 2006, i only have problems when I try to do things myself and end up breaking things because its so rusty
2008 Expedition 5.3 3V. Just ticked over to 293k never, had any major work done and it been running on 7 cylinders for about 2 and half years maybe longer. Still the most dependable vehicle my parents have bought.
Spark plugs are so stupid easy to replace that’s almost like paying a mechanic to pump your gas
@@ham7357 the previous gen put too little threads on the sparkplugs so they would literally shoot out, the 2004-2008 gen they over compensated and put too many threads on leading to them breaking in the head. so its a good idea to have a mechanic do it in a shop instead of breaking one at home and having it towed
@@ham7357 I was thinking the same but some people have the money and think it's better. I'd do it myself for my car that and the filters except it needs a timing belt so the mechanic can do that.
Honestly, as a none Ford guy. But I’m glad they still kept a classic V8 on modern truck
Yeah the V6 turbos don’t seem as reliable.
Yeah, it's nice to see that, for sure.
And as a Ford guy I'm glad they're keeping a v8
@@seanA416 Those V8 are rock solid, maybe the best up there.
I just hope they don't go through the same issues as GM did. I believe these new V8s have the cylinder shutoff feature.
Cool thing about a Ford-The spark plugs will out last the ignition coils.
That’s because they’re American parts lol. Now NGK ignition coils on Japanese cars. Easily will last 200k
Never had that problem over270k on two 5.4l 2v commercial use.

@@matthewwilliams9028 I'm glad for you and also glad not many people can say that because Ford truck work paid for my last house. I love them!
So Bosch coils stink.
Hi Scotty, I am so glad I found your videos, very entertaining and informative. I have a Ford F-150, the 5.0 liter, and I could not be happier with my choice for a pickup truck, although my first choice was a Toyota Tundra, but I couldn’t find one in my price range. I was hoping you could tell me what are the most common causes of vibrations in the front end? It happens only at low speeds, and from what I can tell it seems to happen more when the steering wheel is slightly turned left… ? I’ve checked wheel bearings, tire pressure, and breaks.. I just don’t know. But I’m no mechanic..
Did you do an alignment?
Wheel bearing left or right do both just to get it done right God bless
V8 is the way to go when getting a truck ,especially a F150
Amen to that brother. I have a 2011 Ford F150 with a 5.0L Coyote V8 in it with 141,000 miles on it and still going strong and it's a beast and it sounds like a beast with the Borla ATAK Catback exhaust on it.
I have a eco boost in mine and it has 300000 thousand miles on it. It’s amazing how well a engine will last when you use good oil snd changing the oil when it needs to be changed. I just bought a 2020 f 250 with the 7.3 in it and I love that truck and engine.
I would also ALWAYS put in an aftermarket performance radiator (i.e. a Mishimoto), an extra oil cooling and transmission fluid cooling system AND a larger more rugged oil filter AND a replace the current hood with a carbon fibre forced ram-air hood which has the big air scoops which will suck in cool air and force the hot air out from the engine bay much faster than normal (it also makes the truck more muscular and rugged-looking!)
Then I always put in 5W40 all-Synthetic engine oil and run -40F Winter-rated coolant fluid and change them BOTH OUT after 3000 miles (5000 km) or 3 months (whichever comes first!). Every 40,000 miles (60,000 km) you then do a full engine flush to get rid any build-up of carbon deposits and oil sludge.
Doing that type of maintenance religiously lets you enjoy your truck for 10 years and more with no issues! I know people who have gotten 750,000 miles+ on their F150 and Superduty trucks simply by doing proper fluid changes/maintenance/tune-up on an every 3000 miles or every 3 month schedule!

I went with the 3.3 v6 on my 2019 f150. Its a regular cab 4x4. Very impressive motor and the standard 6 speed auto is impressive also.
Mine is the 10 speed CVT. I'm a little worried.
@@maniswil2 10 speed and CVT are conflicting statements; a CVT doesn’t have fixed gear ratios. You have an automatic transmission, not a CVT.
Scotty; What do you think of the cylinder deactivation in the 2021 F150s? Do you expect them to be reliable or is it too early to tell?
Good choice on the V8, Scotty! That's a GREAT engine and will last years if you maintain it properly. I'm with you on Toyota canceling the big V8. I was going to sell my 2008 Tundra CM 4x4 with only 24,000 miles for a new one but when they killed the V8 they killed my enthusiasm. I'll just keep my '08 for another 400k miles!

The road was mostly primitive and the climb angle was between 30° and 40° and the truck handled it like it was nothing.
I don't think I would give up my Tundra just yet but I will say that Ford is doing a really nice job with their new trucks.
Big trucks Ford had been as reliable and way more than most Toyota trucks you’re not making any sense here..

@@landscapingspecialist The only reason why one shouldn’t consider a twin turbo over a v8 is not because of its sports car like power but of its longevity. Disregarding longevity and pricing, I see no reason why I would opt for less power than turbos.

For the mercedes c230 I have the c230k . It had the same problem. It was due to a faulty combination switch on the steering column. Was about an hours worth of work and not hard to swap . You will need a long necked t27 to go through the back side of the steering wheel to lose the air bag . Remove airbag and he bolt holding the steering wheel on . Be sure to use the right size . I don't recall it off my head after that you will need a Phillips screw driver . You will remove the clock spring housing. Be sure to note it's position and handle delicately or it will separate and the spring inside will become unsprung... good luck getting it back together if that happens. Once you remove the clock spring housing you will gain access to the combination switch and be able to remove it from the bracket it's mounted too with the cruise control lever. Replace with a new combination switch I think mine was around 100 bucks . Be sure to note weather you have regular wipers or the rain sensing kind as they are not the same switch. Assemble in reverse order and remember the clock spring housing has to go on exactly as it came off . There are marks indicating where the arrows should line up. Just a tip have a friend help you when removing the hex bolt holding the steering wheel on . It really helps to have someone to hold the wheel as the her bolt is usually very tight . You will also likely want a cheater pipe to give you good leverage. No steering wheel puller is needed.

@@Jonathan-tb6fm yeah I’m speaking strictly the 3.5 truck. Ford is the only truck company id go with for 1/2 tons. Everything else, Toyota and Nissan are crushing it🤘
I towed a 16' trailer with a rental F150 with about 7000 pounds total. I own a 2021 Ram and I hate to say it, but the Ford towed at mostly not over 3200 RPM while, the Ram mostly stayed close to or over 4000 RPM. This was while I watched the oil temp shoot to 275. The tires on the trailer were only rated for 65 MPH so that's what I tried to maintain. To me the Ford V6 was the winner. Your Ecoboost is still going but I have my doubts about the Ram with repeated towing at 4000RPM.
Same on 2011 no problems. I don't understand the hate on ecoboost cause "the turbos will wear out". People are acting like turbos are some new technology.
Scotty, my 2013 F150 v6 ecoboost has 313k miles, all stock, nothing replaced. But my electric seat motor burnt out, should I just go ahead and push it off a cliff?

These people bash the EcoBoost because it just destroys their V8 trucks like they standing still. LOL
You might want to tell the truth.
How bro? My 13 3.5 ecoboost died at 130k miles
Big ol' rear end...yet the picture of a persons moon appears on the top right corner lol! Brilliant Scotty!
You can’t go wrong with the king of all trucks! I’m so glad you got the 5.0. There are less and less of us on the road that want that 5.0 reliability over the increased power of a twin asthmatic.
F150s are so roomy and comfortable inside. The cabin space is tough to beat. There’s plenty of leg room in the 2nd row for passengers to kick back and relax, without feeling overcrowded if you happen to throw a few bags back there. Seating in the Tundra feels tight and cramped, not to mention there’s even a loss of potential storage space under the seats. The only thing I like about the Tundra is the entire rear window goes down, which is extremely useful, whereas with the F150 the part that slides open is only big enough to fit maybe your head.

My ‘91 F150 had it on the column. We had a child seat in the middle of the bench seat for 8 years. I drove that truck for 17 years. It is still being driven after a couple of other owners. My son saw it on the road a few months ago.
@fosterpainter I specifically wanted the floor shifter and my 2019 Ford F-150 XLT Sport has it. I find it very convenient to manually adjust the gear range or the shift mode. It is also convenient when I want to put it in neutral from drive so I make sure I won't accidentally go into the car in front of me if I slip off the brake. Good place to rest the right hand too. PS. I drove a manual Dakota for 17 years prior to this truck.
They make them with a column shift and still has the big center console. Instead of that pointless sedan shifter, theres just an empty spot for you to put your random junk.
Beautiful Truck Scotty. My Lincoln Mark LT was essentially Ford's First F150 Platinum. I like my Lincoln Mark LT because it is as luxurious as a Lincoln Navigator.
Perfect timing I’m looking to get that when I’m out of college and have a good stable job.
WHOA,Scotty!
I LOVE little cars but I can’t let you slide on this one!
When you went up to TN you rented a little red Chevy Spark, and raved about it! You liked the fact that it handled well, was zippy around town, and it was a lot of bang for the buck. It wasn’t stripped down and since they replaced the timing belt with a timing chain, you seemed to thoroughly enjoy the car.
Now, today, you called the cute, gas-sipping Chevy Spark a “rolling pile of junk”???
What gives?
I thought with the impending gas shortage, you’d actually LIKE a gas miser that gets almost 40 miles per gallon! (at least for the first 150k miles!).
Have you forgotten what you said only 2 years ago????
Just purchased some tickets. Love wildlife foundations.
I have the 2014 Fi50XLT extra cab four wheel drive. It is a terrific truck, and, the 5.0 Coyote, is a great engine. I get pretty good mileage as well, on a recent 1000 mile road trip with mixed driving, including hauling a bunch of lumber for half the trip, I averaged between 19-23 mpg.
Been seriously considering picking up one of these. Glad to see it's up to snuff
Hey Scotty! I love your videos! They are so helpful!
hello and thank you!
@@scottykilmer your welcome
please be safe when you do the driving by yourself it don’t have to be your fault ❤️ love you Scotty thank you for telling me about the new truck
Well, being that's new, I really hope there wouldn't be any surface rust. This does remind me that people sometimes forget the difference between surface rust and rust inhibitors or an anti-corossive coating (found on some engine parts in the engine bay).
Love the review buddy I got a 2012 5.0 and it runs and drives the best
Congratulations mate
I do agree with Scotty, Toyota needs to keep an v8 engine option for the new Tundra model. I do not plan on trading in my 3rd gen Tundra anytime soon 😎.
Hahahahaha, “4321 blast off” hilarious , cool energy !
always love watching your videos. keep it up.
Hey Scotty what about the oil consumption and the engine rattling on deceleration ?
Good choice, that’s a beautiful truck, congratulations!
When the camera waves around I got dizzy I but I felt like I was living in Scotty's waving around coffee and vodka spinning world and even more impressed that he functions like this
I haven’t watched the video yet but reading the post about Scott buying an F150…hell would freeze over before Scotty buying a new car.
Ford has been using the turbo'd EcoBoost 3.5 motor since 2011. If they didn't hold up or had turbo failures all the time at 100K either Ford would have long ago lost the lead in sales, or they'd have dumped the engine. I just used my 2019 3.5 to pull sizeable trailers for 5000 out of the last 8000 miles and the oil never even budged from the full mark. Wasn't sure about buying that engine at first but I'm really pleased with it.
My 2019 F-150 2.7 eco has 70 thousand on it , so far no issues we will see if I can get 300 thousand out of it , like my other F-150 s , heard the have a rubber timing belt in the motor dipping into the oil pan IDK
"The trucks got enough power to get you in and out of trouble."😅
I have a 2013 F-150 XLT with 172,000 miles on my 5.0L and never had any major problems with it just replaced the water pump that's it!
I have one, had a v8 2014, now a 3.5 Ecoboost and i love it.
2021 is the first year Ford is introducing cylinder deactivation on the 5.0 V8. Hope it doesn’t ruin such a good engine.
Remembering the old GM V8/6/4 cylinder shutoff engine. Abysmal failure.
It will🤔👍 dorf Sux along with ALL the American vehicles
Guaranteed there will be someone to come out with an override to that system very soon, if there isn't one already. There's an easy override on GM's displacement on demand V8s now.
VWs here in the UK have it and it works pretty flawlessly. The cylinders cut right back in when you floor it. Saves about 10% on fuel.
Cylinder deactivation is garbage... it creates nothing but trouble for engines...also auto start-stop is junk as well.. just makes things harder for the engine and electrical system.. wears things out quicker both of these so-called technologies are crap imo.
5:28 the savage scotty look on his face was priceless
i was on the fence about the turbo but I love my 3.5 ecoboost. Torque monster. And I love the boost
I have a new '21 Ford F150 XLT FX4 crew cab. Have the Ecoboost by choice tho. They on Gen2 now an system is perfected. Owned 3. All excellent 👌.
Hi Scotty, In one of your earlier videos you recommended to stay away from Ford's 10 speed transmission. I do believe that your new King Ranch has a 10 speed tranny. What changed your opinion? By the way, love your videos! keep up the great work.
Yeah, it's a ford🥰
Can we make love 🥺
This is the best truck! I have the 2021 platinum, 7.2kw Generator, Self-driving, so nice!
One of my uncle's bought a new F150 just before thanksgiving 2021. He got the 5.0 which I was glad to hear because I got a 2014 F150 with the 5.0
Love that Ford Truck Scotty and that rear end!!!
Dude don’t be looking at scottys rear end
Michigan represent!
I would love one of these. I'm entering the contest. Coyote motor, 4 wheel drive, fully loaded King Ranch trim. Best pickup truck on the planet.
Like the car reviews Scotty! Hope u can get ur hands in the new tlx type s
I’m not a fan of digital gauges but other than that it looks good
I know studies have been done that show time managing with a analog clock is more effective then digital, I wonder if people drive different based on the same premise
What about the oil consumption problems the v8s are having? 2018 to now , unless they’ve fixed that issue?
Some 2018 models had that issue due to oval shaped cylinders. All mass production motors can have issues during assembly, just look a GM’s push rod bending issues on 5.3 and 6.2 engines.
Scotty my family wants to get a 3 row suv which one should we get a 2021 Honda Pilot,2021 Mazda CX-9,2021 Kia telluride .
Which one should we buy
Awesome info!
Best video ever. Only a V8 can make us feel like a kid in the candy store. I think the Coyote is Scotty approved;)
I rented one for my road trip almost 23 mpg very comfy smooth and fast even backseat was nice it wasn't a king ranch but I really was impressed. The most comfortable vehicle you can drive for hours doesn't tire u. I'm a Toyota guy but that f150 I rented was best thing I ever driven
Hi Ford lady.
Was it a V8 or V6 Twin-Turbo that you driven and received 23 MPGs???
I see you happy like a baby since long time with a new ride
Enjoy it buddy 🤠
Scotty is the king of automobile reviews! Great guy, great sense of humour, very knowledgable, and great content. I wish Scotty a long life, success, and happiness. God bless!
Yeah I am bummed out when I heard they going to take out the V8 from Tundra and I don't even own one...yet
@6:20 those Chevy Sparks are just a rebadged Daewoo 🤣
Yes! And how good was Daewoo?
Scott bro amazing 👏 video and content, beautiful truck, when are you sending it to me lol, keep up the great job 👍
as someone that has driven ford vans and cars for most of my life, my last vehicle was an Aerostar with the 4litre v6 and it actually surprised me with
the performance that it had considering it was 4500 lbs the same as my other full size ford vans. i have heard that the new aluminum frames do not stand
up like the older steel frames so when i get to where i will be buying another vehicle again, i will be looking for vans from the 80 as i am very familiar with them
and i used to do most of the work on them by myself, i have done things that service mechanics said couldnt be done but as a back yard mechanic, we dont know
what it means cant be done, it just means improvise and lets do it.
Actual frames are still steel...no one uses aluminum for a SOLID frame. Unibody, maybe....but that's NOT a frame.🤷🏼♂️
from some of the vids i have seen, there are aluminum frames being used in some truck to save weight along with other cheap parts so that
the older trucks are much better built than many of the new ones.
