As an entry level car in the 2-series, this car is positioned well. As you said, you have to look at the segment this car is targeted to and with that in mind, it works. 😎
THE 228i IS THE ENTRY LEVEL for you guys??
I guess everything is in fact bigger in america...I've seen a 218i this morning and that thing didn't exactly explode off the line but certainly wasn't a road hazard either...^^
Sure, if fuel is basically free even after insane increases...why bother with economy, right?
In American even the non luxury sports cars are getting very fast. There isn’t a market for expensive under powered luxury cars. If you’re spending the money it better out accelerate fast then a Honda Civic sport.
So glad we were able to do the 228! After almost 2 years with it now I can confidently say it's an awesome, well-rounded BMW daily driver. And let's be honest, coupes just have more fun :) Vid came out great! Thanks Tedward!
Nice review, 228i RWD 6spd manual sportline package with the M suspension but without all the M badging from the M-sport package is the ultimate sleeper fun car.
just bought a 2015 228I M Sport and made sure I got the M sport steering wheel negating your biggest complaint. I agree the back seat is just boring looking but I don't plan on using it. Great review by the way!
I just bought one too. It’s quick and I didn’t want to buy anything with an engine better then a 2 liter. Plus having xdrive in a small 2 door couple will come in handy in winter snow
That brown interior looks delicious. If everything works out, I should be in the convertible by the end of the month. I love that it’s AWD so that I won’t be spooked in the NY winter
Nice review! Having driven both the new G30 540i and an F30 330i xdrive wagon aggressively, I think that BMW does still make sporty cars, but they're just different from BMWs of old. The new ones still handle well and feel sharp, despite weighing more, and other than a very muted steering feel, I think new BMWs still retain their sporty reputation, it's just a more modern take on it.
Those brown seats are so nice
Getting this as my first car this month😍😍
Bro same wtf
hazel u end up gettin it?
Same Lmao!
@@j.connormartin4409 how is it after a year of owning it? Thinking about it myself.
@@Acekiller147 Get a 235i or 135i with the n55.
You make some really great points. Very open minded, I really enjoyed this!
Thanks Joe!
The "White Bread" of rear seats 😂😹
I’d play some 21 savage in that car
Trash🗑 , play Reasonable Doubt by Jay z
With very good race pads and sticky tires this car is a blast on track.
Next video you need to do this road blindfolded cause you run that road so often.
as long as my passenger can yell "DEER!" I'm game
My take is that they still make good cars, and even some great cars. The problem is that they've stopped listening to their old customers and are in a higher pursuit of profitability than they used to be. That shift in focus is putting coloured glasses on some folks, so they don't realize what a great car the F80 actually is, and I'll bet they'll gloss over what an achievement the F90 is shaping up to be.
Ehhh..."all seasons have come a long way." I just drove around a GTI on Bridgestone Potenza AS tires and they were squealing and shuddering making left turns in an industrial park. Compare to the Michelin Power Sport 4S on my CTS V-sport, where the first traction failure related sound while cornering hard is more likely to be me pulling a muscle. All Season tires can suck it. If you live somewhere with winter, just get winter tires on a set of cheap wheels.
Spend 3k on an intercooler, high flow dp, cutout valve, charge pipes and methinal kit and you'll get M2 power relatively safe. I'm currently waiting on my meth kit, max psi 22, it's like night and day.
Great review; helps me understand me 228i
i have this car with a dinan stage 1 tune, it really is perfect for me
Did you have to upgrade anything for the tune? I’m thinking about getting one and I’m not sure what upgrades are necessary.
@@nunofranco4232 for the stage 1, no. It works with everything oem. Check Dinans website. Should all say there.
@@ryanstrauss6575 thank you
@@nunofranco4232 np. Check out the video on my profile to get a better look at my car and mods
You said the side bolsters are power adjustable or did I hear that wrong? Mine doesn’t adjust so I’m curious
Anthony Picariello do you still have the car and if so would you recommend it or have you had any issues with it?
I have it in my 228i
Performance is good and handling too but i like 6 cylinder engine smoothness and sound
No doubt the N55 sounds better!
You make several comments/comparisons in your video between this 228i and the M235 with regards to responsiveness....how much of that difference do you attribute to the difference in tires (A/S on the 228i vs Winter Tires on the M235)? I've driven both the succession 230i and the M240i and like you, prefer the lighter, more responsive feel of the 230i with the 4 cylinder....and the lower costs doesn't "hurt" either (for purchase, insurance and maintenance).
Although you think the 2 series is a good BMW for today's standards, do you still like E chassis 3 series better?
I look at CZcams posts. and I wonder why anyone would want to worry about the backseat. it is a fun to drive sports car
Hi tedward I think it's an awesome car it's really nice it looks like it handles really good and it sounds like a good sports car even from the inside with the windows up and don't worry about the scary camp you either have to be drunk or drinking smoking something or having sex that's when he comes out of the woods and kills everybody so I think you were safe today LOL have a great week looking forward to some good Spring weather for a couple of days!!! Take care buddy!!!
It sounds like the fake engine noise that bmw pumps in, lol.
Really enjoyed this one Tom
Love your views bad or good that’s why I love your review s no bull ! That’s what I said my dad agrees he loves he’s BMW!
Thanks Carolyn!
Great video once again!
Thanks! I think you had DMed me on IG and I accidentally deleted it and could not for the life of me remember what I deleted (until just now). IF that was you..shoot me another
Tedward sounds good! I’ll resend it👍🏼
Is the exhaust stock? Do you prefer this to the 235i because you can ring out the engine more?
Yes the exhaust is stock. I prefer this because it feels lighter and more nimble. I do wish it had the power of the 235 though. I'm sure a little Dinan flash would go a long way on it.
BMW has been doing good job on 3 series but somehow it loses its sport gene over every evolution.I am glad that the company still decides to remain its unique rear wheel drive fun on 2 series.Thinking of getting a 430i or M235 before stricter environmental protection law take into implementation
Like your channel definitely
I'll be driving a RWD 228i Manual in the next few weeks. Really looking forward to compare it to the xDrive. Thanks for watching Tony
Tedward looking forward to it !!
Hello!,What engine does this car come with? N20 or n26 ? Just baught one and was curious thanks.
It had a 4 cylinder 2 liter with dual scroll compressor superchargers
Has 3 no 4 performance modes
Eco pro
Comfort
Sport
Sport + special traction (cuts out “positraction”
Correction : has…
You didnt even say that the egine was dumbass.. you described both n20 and n26@michaelsmyers1973
Can anyone tell me how this car drives in snow?
It honestly does amazing. Its version of xDrive with all-seasons is a winning combination. Has gotten me through some intense winter weather with confidence.
Thanks for replying. I bought this car and LOVE it, but have Northern Michigan winters and was hoping it would be alright.
I was wondering the same thing. Just got my and haven’t had any snow yet.
I've driven mine in 2 inches of snow with.....summer tires on it. Was a bit scary lol. But no issues and never got stuck.
Who upgrades to the dakota leather and doesn't get the M leather wrapped wheel?
My shitty ex apparently
@@TedwardDrives haha, well fair enough
Teddy bear, I need a suggestion on what my first buy should be depending on how well I do with finances. Even tho I'm 15 going on 16 :v
Where abouts you living? Rule number one is dont over extend yourself! buy something fun but reliable. give me a rough budget as well
Tedward I'm in the Boston area so that's one. I'm on a budget of maybe 15k or lower
ooo 15k goes a long way!
Lmaoo Brendan what's up
