    I had to had three endoscopy’s… basically in a row. (EDIT most of my issue was caused by ibuprofen be careful with that shit)
    They usually give you a sedative to basically knock you out for just 15 minutes.
    The first one they didn’t give me enough sedation at all so I felt everything and basically gagged and vomited in my own mouth like 50 times over.
    The second time I told them I needed more sedation and it was better but they still didn’t give me enough to properly knock me out. So I was very confused AND gagging and puking. Even worse than the first time.
    The third time was an emergency but I was literally shouting at them as I went in saying “GIVE ME AS MUCH SEDATION AS YOU ARE LEGALLY ALLOWED”
    That time was Gucci.

      Jeezes that sounds awful.
      I went in for both a colonoscopy and an endoscopy. I was out I think for half an hour.. To an hour? I know it was a long time but can't remember how long.
      But I had mine done in a hospital with a specialist...
      These are the reasons why I insist on going to specialists coz I've heard and had bad issues with GPs that try to do this stuff. GPs are all health practitioners. They are great. But they need to send you to a specialist to find out about something specific. There's a huge difference. Deal with someone who specialises in that field and knows what they are doing. Gargh lol

    • @chromeaces
      @chromeaces Před 2 lety +8

      @@Kewlausgirl yes it was done by a specialist. But I was in hospital at the time.
      I will say I had another endoscopy as follow up 3 months after and that time was perfection. I felt and remembered nothing. But I was so scared I was physically shaking so the doctor was probably like “let’s just give her more than the limit” LOL
      However…. As a naturally red haired person we physically need more sedation than other people to get the same effect (caused by the gene mutation that gives us red hair). So I think this might be why I had such a game the first few times. They were working out how much I actually needed.

    Asians have different earwax most of the time, I think there’s like three types, that’s why Joey and Garnt have the same reaction to Conor’s ear stuff.
    “the gene responsible for the drier type originated in an ancient northeastern Asian population. Today, 80 to 95 percent of East Asians have dry earwax, whereas the wet variety is abundant in people of African and European ancestry (97 to 100 percent).”

      !!! For a gastroscopy (from the mouth -> small bowel), you’re sedated so you aren’t fully “asleep” but you won’t remember the process. For a colonoscopy (from the anus -> large bowel) you’re anaesthetised so you ARE fully asleep.
      Going in from the mouth, you can’t be fully asleep because the anaesthesia used can cause the airways be too relaxed to stay open (respiratory depression). Resp depression is fairly easy to prevent/manage if we go in from your bum (oxygen support from the mouth, scope tube from the bum). BUT we can’t prevent/manage it as easily if we go in from the mouth - how do we provide oxygen support AND control the tube from the same “hole”? So that’s why you need to be semi-awake for the gastroscopy. [please correct me, other medical people - this is just what I was told as a student]
      That being said, you’re not supposed to remember you were semi-awake. You should just feel like you were completely knocked out. Chris’s experience is totally odd and probably a little unethical.

    Here is a life tip if you ever get water in your ears:
    You just get your hand wet enough to drop some droplets of water, then pour those droplets in your ear, then after you feel the water in your ear unclogs, immediately tilt your head down to the affected ear, if your ear is still clogged after you do that then do it again, but if its still not working then go see a doctor.

  • @Kewlausgirl
    @Kewlausgirl Před 2 lety +10

    And yeah Connor is absolutely right! (For once lolol jk) but don't put anything in your ears. You can clean it out with water in the shower or maybe wipe the sides of the ears with your face cloth/face washer but don't go in the ear drum.
    And ear candles - throw them in the bin. Those things are absolute duds! It's just the wax from the candle. There is no way to clean the ear out with vacuum - because if you out too much force it would pop your eardrums lol.
    So the best way to clean them is drops in for the night with cotton wool. Or see a doctor and they can clean your ears out with a solution and drain it, if need be.
    But don't use cotton buds or even fingers in your ear drums to clean it out...
    Trust me: my dad was old school and had a bad habit of using bobby pins. He already had ear damage from construction work, and he eventually went off bobby pins to just cotton buds. But it still scratches the ear drums. The Ear specialist explained this to him and he still does it because... It gets build up and itchy.... Which is all because he does it.
    So for you guys with itchy ears, it's because they are irritated from using whatever you are using to try and clean them. See a doctor, get your ears rinsed out to get rid of the gunk and use ear drops. They will still itching in no time!

    considering how many people clean their ears and they’re perfectly fine, connor needs to clean them ears 😭 if not with q-tips then with a wet washcloth in the shower (something! there are safe alternatives!) that grossed me out to learn and made me view him differently 💀 like it’s basic hygiene. rip to his earbuds.

      It better to not clean your ears than to clean them yourself, it's not basic hygiene at ALL.
      Just washing the outside of your ear while you wash your hair is enough of the cleaning for your ears.
      Earwax's purpose is to PROTECT your ears, you don't need to remove it if you don't have a medical condition that warrants it.
      If you don't believe me ask your doc or check the internet and stop spreading misinfo.

    The only reason they say not to put anything in your ear is because you probably aren't a professional and will damage your ear doing it yourself. If you go have someone else do it like as a service, they are trained to clean your ears safely.
    Asians also typically have different was types anyways so they have to clean theirs in a different way. If it's more waxy like yt peoples then chances are it'll come out with water, the drier type doesn't come out that easy.

    getting an endoscopy without anesthesia is literally my worst nightmare. the thought alone makes me panic. if i ever have to get one i'll have them knock me out completely. but even then.. i don't think i could do it unless it's an emergency. i might have a slight phobia

    Worst thing I had so far isn't really even that bad compared to most people. But I had to get an MRI done for my hand (Skip to next paragraph for that, this para is just me explaining my condition). I have a, to my knowledge, super rare condition. The closest diagnosis the doctors have given me is Pachydermodactyly. Tl;dr, the joints on my right hand are swollen and where they are swollen, I have horrible dry patches of skin. No matter how much lotion I use, the dry patches never leave. I've been prescribed the strongest steroid cream they are legally allowed to give and it did nothing. Btw, want to add, it doesn't hurt or anything, it's just really annoying having dry patches of skin and my hand being swollen (for example, I build PCs, can't fit my hand in small crevices like in the basement of a case, gotta use my left hand for that). The only concerning thing is, I've read through a ton of the reports I could find on it, it's limited to the right hand. For me, it seems to be spreading to my toes and other hand after having it for about 10 years (since middle school, in 3rd/4th year of uni now).
    But the MRI, before they knew what was wrong with my hand, they wanted to scan me. So, I had to lay flat on my stomach with my arm outstretched all the way forward. If I moved for even a second, they would have to redo the scan. So they do the scans, takes like 25 minutes. My arm/shoulder hurts a lot from holding my arm out for so long without rest. They then tell me they need to inject me with something, I forget, and it would make any abnormalities in my hand glow blue on their scans. They fucked up the injection many times. They had 3 different people try to get the stuff into my veins over the course of like 20 minutes. I don't know how safe that was or how much would be too much to inject, at the time, I was in middle school and too scared to speak up. Obviously, my arm hurt like hell from holding it out + the shots. So then I needed to lay flat again, hold my arm out and do more scans. My arm hurt so much I couldn't hold it still very well so we had to redo a lot of the scans which made it take even longer, making my arm hurt more and harder to stay still, etc... The pain was too much that I was crying. After like another 30-40 minutes, we finished. A while later, we get the results. Nothing. Even with all the scans, they had no clue.
