Not putting this here to brag......I started lifting at the age of 44. Literally did my first squat at 44 with 95 lbs and thought "this is crazy!" Because I started late....I was able to put my ego in check a bit more than the average teenager or young man starting to lift; I focused on technique like a crazy person. Technique and reps and consistency was my mantra! Fifteen months later.....405 squat...410 DL.....250 BP (old shoulder injury prevented upper body training for 6 months). I know those numbers aren't great, but I'm damn proud of them......I've also built a pretty high work capacity for all those lifts due to technique, reps and consistently getting my ass under that bar! You can do it too! Pain is temporary.....PRIDE IS FOREVER!
Dude that is AWESOME, FIGHT THE GRIM REAPER!!!!! I started at 39 and 1 year in I got 255 on bench, I can't squat or DL yet (still fixing old injuries) but I had the same attitude, "Too late."
Well done man. I did powerlifting at a young age (16-23) and while my numbers were a bit higher at the time, I would struggle now at 42 to get back up to your squat and DL numbers.
it was awesome to hear him talk about his supplemental and accessories, especially your guys take on performing rows ( or other supplemental/accessory exercises ) in the context of the lift you're trying to build. I for one use pendlay rows for my deadlift, and bent over BB rows for my bench
