I Created a (terrible) Video Game Console

- I know nothing about electronics, but thought it'd be fun to try create a (super simple and extremely terrible) video game console.
I was inspired to start experimenting with this after stumbling across the fascinating videos of @BenEater. If you found this video at all interesting, I'd highly recommend taking a look at his channel for some much more advanced stuff!
If you'd like to help me create more videos, you can support the channel on Patreon over here: / sebastianlague
The source code for this project (console/game scripts + Unity music editor) is probably not of much interest to anyone, but you can take a look here if you want: github.com/SebLague/Monster-C...

Hello, I thought I'd try something a little different for fun, but will be back with some more regular content soon!
I was inspired to start experimenting with this stuff after I stumbled across this channel: czcams.com/users/beneater Ben does really interesting and impressive projects like creating an 8-bit computer, so I highly recommend taking a look.
If you know of any other cool channels for this stuff, please share them with me!
wow i just found him to hes really good
Sebastian Lague you should continue upgrading the console it’s a really different video, but in a good way
you should do a follow up of this and try and create an emulator (by reverse engineering the exported code, not the raw code, so its a PROPER emulator and not just a renderer for the code). if you want to that is :P
The video was great! And I hope you will consider making more of this kind of content as I enjoyed it very much. I would recomend to use an Arduino Nano or Pro Mini if you have problems with finding space as it is much smaller.
I would recomend this channel: m.czcams.com/channels/mkP178NasnhR3TWQyyP4Gw.html
I've also been on a bit of an electronics binge recently and I've found this amazing video:

@@shiftless215 Yeah and I get that feeling playing my own games but I imagine it's amplified when you also made the console
I have not made a game in a very long time, but it is an interesting experience, to say the least. In some ways, it is great. In other ways, it is not satisfying at all. Like, it can be great to marvel at seeing everything in motion, doing exactly what it was supposed to do. But you can never really find yourself immersed in it the way you can as a normal gamer. You know what, where, and why everything is the way it is, and there is no "magic" in it. Instead, you just wind up thinking of ways you might change or add to it. Worse, the effect bleeds over into other games. You begin focusing more on the potential what, where, how and why (imagining behind the scenes stuff), how you might do things differently, and so on, than you do falling into your own actual gameplay experience. So, it can be a bit of a mixed bag.
As a game programmer, all I see are the bugs I need to fix and the stuff I need to add. It is a 1000 times more rewarding to see others playing your game than playing it yourself imo.
