I recently started working with an older man, and he told me that when his family first bought a microwave, they got the pol martin microwave recipe cookbook, and anytime they'd try to make one it either didn't work or turned out too repulsive to eat
Oh my god they were Pol's victims
I've been really tempted to get an original copy of one of those cookbooks, a dark grimoire of culinary arts

One of the funniest things about this series is hearing them get outraged at cooking certain things in a microwave that can easily be cooked well in a microwave (e.g. cauliflower). It's just that well, there's cooking and then there's.. whatever Pol's doing to those poor ingredients in the nuke-box.

i watched this live while also having a very emotional heart-to-heart with a sibling over text. the turmoil of seeing that salmon 'recipe' while sobbing is something no mortal should experience and will never be recreatable
i show friends the curry and at the end say 'i saw that while sobbing. imagine what that does to a man.'

I don't know how else to explain this but Pol Martin cooks like he's a video game character.
As someone who grew up in Alaska, seeing that salmon made me viscerally angry. Good salmon steaks like that are pretty expensive even there and to see it desecrated like that makes me so mad. I don’t know maybe I’m crazy.

Funny thing is as a cook, having a microwave can be super helpful.
Like for making decorative but edible sponge cake, tempering chocolate, steaming/blanching veggies. Or steam cooking rice/tilapia.
But this is not only slanderous usage of the microwave, this is just a nightmare to behold

You know what the funniest part of this is? The plate trick is entirely unnecessary, there are pans specifically for frying things in the microwave. You CAN cook in the microwave but you just have to not be a fucking dumbass about it
