- Snail Maze is a secret game hidden in early versions of the Sega Master System. When the Master System’s BIOS screen starts up, simply hold up and 1+2 together the the controller. This is a really quick review of this tiny, but fun game!
This game is demonstrated using the SMS core on a Mister FPGA device, which is 100% recommended for retro gaming enthusiasts who do not want to compromise on system accuracy, benefiting from 'hardware' recreation of the system, far better controller lag times as well as the ability to seamlessly switch between systems in seconds.

Almost no one knew about the hidden snail race Easter egg game built into the Sega Master. I discovered it when I was a very bored kid lol. The joy I felt finding a free hidden game, like winning the lottery.
I'll never forget the pure excitement and confusion when this screen loaded for the first time b/c I was just randomly pressing buttons while the system booted.
Well-narrated.
There's an episode of Black Mirror where the main character dies and in purgatory must play nothing but Snail Game on a loop for all eternity. I didn't watch to the end.
That feels exactly like my childhood when I only had Hang On and Snail Maze to play for a while!
