She was 63 when this was taped. Her voice was still golden, practically unchanged when she first recorded this when she was 23. It became a huge hit worldwide. She had 5 No1 & 18 Top Ten hits on the Billboard Country Charts. Sadly she passed away just 4 years after this performance. RIP Legend.

When I was a little boy I saw her perform at the half time show at that San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo and got to shake her hand. Most performers would come out and ride around the arena in the back of a convertible waving at everyone before taking the stage out in the middle. Not her. Lynn comes out wearing a blue sequin outfit and white cowboy hat riding a white horse like she was born in the saddle and goes all the way around the arena shaking hands and talking to all us kids hanging off the rails and took her sweet time to make sure she got to talk to everyone. When she was done she kicked the horse into a gallop and jumped off on to the stage to do her set. I've never seen anything like her and I guess I never will. I was gutted when she died. RIP Lynn. Even if it is more than 5 yrs. since this music video was posted and most likely, no one will read the comments. It doesn't matter, I need to post my comment for myself and how it makes me feel...
Thank you for posting this highly memorable song sung by the great and beautiful legend Lynn Anderson! ❤️ Today when this music video came up on my suggested feed, I instantly clicked on it and turned the speakers up on HIGH... I'm not ashamed the least bit, to say that through my streaming tears, I sang along with Lynn. I still to this day know every word and vocal-cords in it...
This brings back soooo many memories from when I was a small child. Way back when I thought life was finally going to be good, that there WAS love in the world. I was only 5 yrs old and had just been adopted, after having survived the worst abuse a child or, anyone for that matter could have been been forced to live through.
In a box in my new home, I remember finding a small battery driven handheld transistor radio 2 days after I had moved in with my new "parents". I didn't know what it was at first but, rolled the plastic roller thingy on the side and nearly dropped the radio when it started coming to life. THIS was the fist song I had ever heard in my 5 yrs of life. I am now 60 yrs. old and this will ALWAYS be my favorite song and Artist. It is the song that has always managed to give me hope, even if it is bittersweet...
I soon found that I had to hide this precious radio, since in my new home, I was not allowed to listen to "heathen music". 5 yrs old, I somehow managed to find an earbud to this transistor radio and would sleep with it under my pillow with the earbud in my ear.
It was my only comfort when I finally realized that, life is still not roses and sweet smelling flowers... And never was...
However, this little old beige colored radio was my lifeline, it was what helped me through the darkness and cruelty in life. It WAS what helped me survive and grow to be the strong individual I want to believe I am today. A WARRIOR for abused children and women.
With all that's going on today, I really needed to happenstance across this song and not only listen to it but also sing along. It has given me the courage to feel that, I CAN STILL FIGHT. I can still make a difference...
    Thank you 🙏

She was my childhood sweetheart. I was lucky enough to not only see her peform live, but I got to actually meet, talk with her and she autographed my Album for me. She, Buck Owens and Roy Clark were the headliners for the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo in Colorado Springs where I was born and raised. I was lucky in the regards that the rodeo brought a lot of Country Stars to it over the years. I met Tammy Wynette, George Jones, almost all the cast of Hee Haw, a young Hank Williams Jrr, Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter and fantastic singer also his wif. and many others. Lynn Anderson has and will always have a special place in my heart.

Story time.I have been listening to this over and over.I love the song and this is a great version.
Two days ago I was looking at old photos from my childhood.I came across photos of a trip to Norway in 1979.Our Irish dancing school was invited to an international festival. Most of us had never been out of Ireland. We all got new passports to make the journey. We had a school master who assisted with the planning. He ordered all our passports and when handling them out we got so excited.
Well yesterday I had a hospital appointment. The car that pulled up next to me in the car park was that school master. Then I found a video today of Lynn Anderson visiting her family in Norway. The houses all looked as they did when we were there. The people in The National costumes, the very same.
I'm not quite sure what this all means.Simple coincidence? Considering I rarely leave my home it's quite remarkable.Just thought I'd share.

1 John 2:15-17 New Living Translation
15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
      James 4:4 New Living Translation
4 You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God."
      Mark 8:36 New Living Translation
36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
