As I mention at the end of the video, it's a bad idea to depend upon hitting bone for something like this to work. Regardless, the product never worked as intended and wouldn't even break a windshield with a direct hit: czcams.com/video/OISy9exvCyI/video.html

The couch arrived in two boxes four days early, which was great because we'd just moved into a new house and needed places to sit. My son and I put it together pretty quickly czcams.com/users/postUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa . Another reviewer suggested inserting the seat into the side and I'm glad they did as the instructions weren't clear on that matter. It's incredibly light and slides easily across the wood floor, making it easy to move. It's firm, but comfortable. It will even be great to nap on. I got the gray, which definitely has strong blue undertones, but I'm okay with that.

  • @MrGsteele
    @MrGsteele Před 5 lety +1

I think the strongest message is that ballistic gel is NOT an analog of an animal body - it provides a proxy that can be compared for penetration measurements, but it isn't a usable experimental medium for tests such as these.
I also think a .357 blank, facing backwards, with a firing pin ahead of it that impacts the primer when the nose of the projectile deforms might provide a viable explosive head that would incapacitate a large animal, but I'm not sure that wouldn't fall under explosive device or some such under NFA rules. And I think it's an open question whether or not an arrow's velocity is adequate to provide the deformation needed.
    Interesting test!

I have personally never used this product but from the reviews, it turns out to be more of a flub than anything else. For starters, the lack of a barrel means that the gunpowder would not have much space or time to properly burn at all. I have always said, that the key to successfully hunting big game with a bow, is having an excellent quality broadhead. Two bladed or three bladed, with adequate sharpness and penetrating point. An arrow functions the same way as a knife or sword that is thrown at high velocity, and you want the cutting edge to be extremely sharp.

I'll address all of your questions:
Killing animals with a bow is stupid.
More stupid or less stupid than spending 9:51 watching a video on a subject you disagree with? This is, of course, assuming you watched the entirety of the video (which is the defining factor in whether your not you've earned the right to even have an opinion).
      Is it for fun?
      Rather.
where is the fun for the animal; that feels the pain?
I was shot once by a stray bullet while traveling in Texas. Albeit a bullet and I lived, it was not fun. I doubt getting killed with an arrow is any more or less fun.
Are you a good shot? I hope so for the animal.
As indicated by the 9:51 you spent watching this video: yes. It seems he is an adequate shot.
Most of those "hunters" are not.
You'll excuse me if I have a hard time buying into your theory that "most hunters are not good shots" coming from someone clearly anti-hunting. It's like me telling you most gun-ban advocates are excellent marksmen.

Stick this into a bears hip bone, knee or ankle and you've got yourself a big animal that can't charge any more. I doubt it would make it past the skull though. Bear skulls are stupidly thick. And as for a cape buffalo? Forget about the head. I don't think they even have brains, just a huge ball of bone and sinu. They run off of a windows 95 comp they keep hidden in their fur.

I forget the name of the pistol but there were so many problems that it was a
joke. You can still find them from time to time at gun shows but the ammo
is nonexistent any more except in museums or private collections as oddities.
Back in the late 50's or early 60's I was able to see one of the Rocket Pistols
tested. Range was not good, Accuracy was a joke and it was not very well
though our or designed at the time. Hammer hit the front of the round
driving it back to the firing pin. the hammer fell forward to release the round
when it ignited. it it would have had an electrical firing system it might have
worked better but I doubt it. Another folly that failed.

Poor design.. If these were designed differently they would be lethal...Even though they are illegal for any type of hunting. If the Bow Mag 357 came with an adapter to stop the blow back pressure...You know that pressure that is popping your nock off every shot... Big Plus... Other part that would work better is the arrow tip that holds that cartridge must be made with enough material to take the chamber pressure of the round they are using.. I just brought this up because years back some friends from a community I was in used something like this...only different and they worked...

ATF said any support for the cartridge would be considered a barrel, making each BowMag a firearm. This would make them all but unsellable, so the manufacturer resorted to the design you see here.

TWANGnBANG I looked at the verbiage of what ATF calls a chamber or barrel and the design that I saw used fell under neither regulation of law. Where most of your test done with Aluminum or Carbon arrow shafts? The method I saw that worked was on a modified Carbon Arrow Shaft.. It is hard to explain fully here...as you know... But weight compensation has to be great because of bullet/shell weight... The methods I saw used 9mm and not 357 and I believe this was for weight. See you do not have to modify it to fall under ATF Regs as a chamber or barrel for this to work... You just need something to stop 80% of back blast...

ugsisr I have nothing to do with this design or this company. You see in this video the totality of my experience with this product. However, I did interview the designer extensively. As I understand it, they submitted a different design to the ATF which included support for the cartridge, and the ATF said that would make it a firearm. If you want additional details or to convince them of a design change, you'll have to contact BowMag directly.

The design can be improved greatly on those gadgets,an actual fitted collet around the cartridge would be more than lethal on a Large size animal.
