    I have been avoiding the O and J archives until today... I am glad I listened to this. 10 days from the 4th anniversary of my father's death. I was his caretaker at the end. It was a profound experience. It was cancer found too late (damned stubborn resistance to seeing a doctor). This was validation. Breuer is the fucking man. New respect.

    I know what they mean about dying relatives waiting for visitors before passing on. When my grandfather was in the hospital at the end, I was the last person to visit him. He was drifting in and out of consciousness and saying weird things, like "whenever I enter a new place, the first thing I look for is an escape route." I stayed until the nurse chased me out. The next day, my parents called to tell me that he had died shortly after my visit.

      I have a differant take on it, I was not there when my father died.... however I heard from my Mom people were showing up out of the woodwork. people he had not seen in years and years including family members that were on the outs. what that told me is a lot of people had a lot of guilt and were simply trying to get into heaven (or whatever) themselves. as for me. I cant tell you the Burden lifted off my mind knowing he's finally GONE! the hell he put my mother through, the lies he told me in the end about MY mother being taken care of the house all in good order etc..... My Mom in her 70's is still having to work. to my father I say Good Riddance!

    when you know the time is near, explain to other family members that you would like 5 min to be alone with mom or dad so you can properly say good bye in your own way - you can cry and say exactly what you want to say, or what you have always wanted to say - like some people think that in their own mind they have always known they loved mom or dad - but they never heard you say the words - this is your chance to say good bye properly - and closure is so much easier this way - you dont get this chance after they die.. or if they die young due to car accident or whatever - your always gonna have an unsettled feeling

    Crazy. I listened to this like a year ago and his story made me choke up about how peaceful it was and how he was ok and strong. My dad died on the 5th of june. Finally been a month my grandmother died on the 20th of june on my parents anniversary. my mom is devastated. I am trying to stay strong for her but fuck its rough to see her so upset. But Jim is right. RIGHT after he passed its like Whew...wow ok..me and mom where in the hospital with him at the end. the hardest part was walking out knowing the last time id see him would be in his coffin. But for some odd reason i left the hospital drove around Nashville for a bit then went home. Not until i went to his house did it hit me. I guess its bad but not AS bad as you would think? Me and my mother where in this situation we had to make the choice to take him off oxygen and put him on morphine. Watched as he breathing slowed then that was it. Peace. Not for us most importantly for him. People make it about themselves. I thought I was going to be a sobbing mess on the floor just a wreck. Like Jim. I see pictures and I smile. There are sad times but you just have to remember he or she or anyone is okay. No matter what you believe in. They are okay.

    Damn. My grandpa had that same look in his eyes. I saw him the day before he died (died in his sleep that night) he went down hill fast. Couldn’t get up from the bed. Wasn’t eating or anything. He was still mentally there but couldn’t speak or barley move.. last thing I said was, “I’ll see you tomorrow grandpa” didn’t even say I loved him.

    Breuer is always a great guest - but there were some hidden shenanigans going on here - he (Breuer) was being quietly shopped around, first in 2011-2012 as a potential Artie replacement on Stern, then in 2014-2015 as a potential Norton replacement opposite Opie - Artie was aware of it at the time, and a couple of sharp “everyone’s replaceable” comments came out of Howard’s mouth - Norton may or may not have known about the possibility. (He was pretty clued in.)

    • @scottbaylo
      @scottbaylo Před 2 lety

      Did the wig actually say “everyone’s replaceable” to Artie or in front of him? I wouldn’t be surprised, I just don’t remember it.

    • @sskoog
      @sskoog Před 2 lety

      This story comes in four parts -- May 2005, Jan 2009, Apr 2009, and July 2009. Listening back on it, I can't help but think that Stern knew all about Artie's drug problems as early as 2005 (the "I need three weeks off" Beer League fiasco), and started dangling Breuer in front of him as a veiled fine-we'll-replace-you threat.
      The May 2005 segment starts with the Howard-Artie Beer League argument, then Howard abruptly smarts off "Let's bring in Artie's replacement, Jim Breuer." The 2009 stuff is getting harder to find -- I believe it's being scrubbed due to Howard-mistreated-Artie fears -- but Breuer comes in to pimp his one-day-a-week Sirius show, and suddenly Howard is highlighting all the fan email about "Jim should be a regular guest," "Jim should replace Artie when Artie croaks," "you should have Jim in more than one hour a week." During one of these appearances, Breuer starts to subtly warn Artie about "the WHISPERERS, man... they get to you, and they WHISPER."
      Irony is: Sirius apparently did the same thing with Breuer, a second or third time, when Opie was looking for a new co-host -- Jim has been used as a quiet replacement threat something like 4-5 times now.

      @@sskoog wow, that’s amazing! I didn’t need any more reason to despise the wig, but I might as well add this to the pile… he’s honestly the biggest POS on the planet, and even though it’s hard to truly hate someone you don’t know, I can say with 100% certainty that I hate him… and I think more than anyone I HAVE met

    There are certain that are the rulers of the darkness of this world. Many need to seek and know The Truth That is The Christ. So many if they just new His testimony and Witness and Truth and humble themselves and would be meek and have humility and repentance in Truth and sincerity and show great fear of The Lord humble and repent believing in The truth (sadly so many ignore) The Christ is The Truth and I happen to know of a Truth... The True Christ who is The Real Truth ! I know this for a fact ! An absolute FACT !!! GOD TRULY OF A TRUTH CAME UN TO ME A SPOKE INTO ME AND SPOKE THING'S UNTO ME AND COMMANDED THINGS OF ME AND SPOKE UNTO ME WITH HIS TRULY GREAT VOICE AND SPOKE WITH GREAT POWER AND AUTHORITY GOD IS VERILY VERILY MUCH REALLY REAL OF A TRUTH I WITNESS ALL YOU THAT READ THIS ! I CAN WITNESS GOD IS TRUE AND PERFECT AND SUCH AN VERILY VERILY AWESOME GOD AN GOOD AND PERFECT GOD. SO MUCH SO THAT IF NEARLY ALL OF YOU LOOKED BACK AND REMEMBERED AND TRULY KNEW YOUR SELF'S AND YOUR HISTORY AND AT THAT TIME WERE BEFORE THE ALL KNOWING ALL POWERFUL GOD AND ALL YOUR SIN'S WERE MADE KNOWN YOU YOU WOULD BE TRULY HUMBLED AND VERILY VERILY LIKELY ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES ! WAKE UP THERE'S NOT THAT MUCH TIME LEFT ! (GOD IS ALL KNOWING ! I believe if only each and every one of you were before Him you would Truly know True humility and humbleness and shame of your self and your sin's and your evilness and ungodliness. As it is written God is Spirit and only by The power of His spirit can we worship Him as He truly is. God is verily verily Holy ! GOD is ALL POWERFUL (As it is written) GOD CREATED THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH AND ALL THERE IN. God opened a Porter/Gate way/ a portal for me. I got to Be with The almighty God of Hosts and many don't know how sinful and terribly ungodly you are unless you are reborn in water and Spirit and in The True and Truly be in the Truth with The Holy almighty God. There was an time when mine Lord Spoke unto me (With His great and mighty voice) IT IS THE TIME OF KNOWING KNOW YOUR HISTORY ! There was an time when I was crying out loud crying out in repentance of my sin's and the sin's of my ancestors unto so verily verily Holy GOD in sincerity and in all seriousness and truth and humility and humbleness and fear of the Lord and GOD Spoke unto me for days... GOD Spoke unto me so many thing's and gave me so verily verily abundantly and made so much known me. There was an time when The almighty GOD Spoke unto me MAN WAS NOT BUILT TO RETAIN SUCH KNOWLEDGE ! THERE WAS THIS LIGHT THAT GOD REALLY PUT IN ME IN THE KNOWING OF MUCH !

    I get it, Goodfellas is a great movie, but how many times can these guys reference it over the span of all of these clips I’ve listened to. Especially with comedians (Norton), isn’t it a bit hacky to frequently look for laughs by referencing someone else’s work? Bill Burr does it a lot also with the movie quotes. It just always seemed a bit to me like stealing another comedians joke.
    That’s my rant.
