    • @davidchin350

      Thanks for the comment. I originally bought this since my son wanted to learn how an engine works. This was much easier than taking apart my real 1:1 car 😊 So far no skinned knuckles or dirty grease on my hands.👍

    Very cool! I did the V8 engine back in my youth. It was electric also but instead of using the battery pack I hooked up an electric train control to it. I was able to run it at different speeds and rev it up. Great learning experience for your son.

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks Alan, yes this kit is to teach him how engines work. That's a great idea using a variable speed controller/transformer. I will be happy if this will eventually run. I don't think I want to run this too fast considering the absence of any bearings.

    Nice that you could get your son to participate in model building. Best I could do was build and paint a few Warhammer figures with my son years ago. Cool kit. I remember that the "Visible V8" was popular when I was a kit although I never had one. If need be, the cardboard replacement piece can be reinforced by dabbing CA glue on it which gets absorbed and stiffens the board. Hope you get your replacement motor before long.

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  Před měsícem +1

      Thanks Dario, this kit is fairly simple since no painting required. My son said the best part for him is using sprue cutters to separate off the parts tree.🤨

    Very cool David, I have that kit in my stash, I really want to build it someday, maybe after I retire. It’s great that your son is building it with you, are you using a dielectric grease for lubricant?

    • @davidchin350
      @davidchin350  Před měsícem

      Thanks Jeff, I used whatever I have around which was bicycle grease. Heavier than light duty toy motor/gear lubricant but thinner than automotive grease. I tried not to get it on the connectors.🙂
