I don’t believe he was being racist. He imitated a goofy, stereotypical accent at which he laughed- something he does frequently and laughs at how poor his imitations are, and said “stupid Italians,” because the AI around his soldiers were just running around instead of killing the British.

In fact, italian weaponry was the most malfunctioning at that time, and german soldiers often even refused to fight alongside italians because they acted cowardly sometimes and there were multiple cases of friendly fire via artillery because of misunderstandings.
