- "You were my hero, Amerie, and you made me into the man I am today," said Angel Garza, the stepfather of 10-year-old Amerie Jo Garza, at the March for our Lives rally at the Texas State Capitol in downtown Austin. Amerie Jo was one of 19 children killed in the May 24 mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.

I'm a stepfather who's bio dad had joint custody with my stepson, from my wife's previous marriage..... There's no way I would act like the FATHER if my stepson was killed, unless his Bio dad was TOTALLY out of the picture!!!

Right after the situation at Robb Elementary, this man was interviewed by Anderson Cooper as her father..not long after, around the same time, another man was interviewed by CNBC.... nothing happened, and people started pointing out the conflict, so 'explanations' started to be put forth, like the one guy was his cousin (because of the same last name), that one was stepdad, then simply that Garza is common last name....got messy....
