At times it's difficult to forgive someone for the damage they caused, as you said one can try to forget it which is also difficult but not as much as forgiving someone, it's simply not possible in certain cases/ people.
I feel it's not about having a big heart or something like that, it's more like there comes a time when you don't want to give anything further to that person, even if it means forgiveness.
Yes we are drinking the poison.
Still will try to forgive those whom trying to forget, this video made me think about it again.
