      Remember when SportsCenter would show highlights and the box score of every game that had been played that day?
      And that was such a huge game changer (apologies for the sports pun) because it was revolutionary; if you didn’t live in your favorite team’s market, not only would you never see your team’s games, but you would never even get to see any highlights of your team.
      SportsCenter changed all that.
      Now it’s just a bunch of talking heads giving their opinions that no one is asking for.

      No it wasn't. It was MNF which was aired on ABC back then. This was "The Fastest 3 Minutes in Football" which was a Chris Berman segment during halftime of MNF And this segment stayed exactly like this until Berman retired in 2016, and started back up again in 2021.     Everybody is saying Trent Dilfer was lucky, and others are saying "why was he lucky" ... Trent Dilfer was a Super Bowl Winning Quarterback, he was also a quarterback of an offense that went 5 games in a row that mid season without an offensive Touchdown. They went 6 out of 7 consecutive games with no Touchdown. That was the best defense in NFL History... And also imagine how many more possessions Dilfer had due to the defense constantly getting 3 and outs.

      You failed to mention that Trent was only resposible for one of those 5 games(his first start)without a touchdown. Tony Banks was the starter and Trent replaced him in week 6. Lost his first game then never lost again and scored offensive td's in every game afterward too.

    As a lifelong Fresno State fan who's favorite player growing up was Trent Dilfer, the fact that he's the only quarterback in history to get ejected for fighting a HOF d-lineman, and also has more Super Bowl rings than Dan Marino, pleases me greatly.
