KTM has sold more than 75,000 adventure motorcycles since 1993, and its re-named these large long-distance dirt bikes as “Travel Enduros.”

"Were gonna drop off a CLIFF". Cannot deny the fact these guys are getting after it.
He continues his review of the bike at the hospital...This guy is relentless.
one of the best reviews yet from you guys. so many reviews just wash over stuff giving a quick mention but not going into much detail so I really enjoyed your thoughts and insight into this new monster bike from KTM.
Glad to know you're ok, great presentation. KTM has a winner on its hands. Wish you a speedy recovery
Terrific video. And love the amount of first person camera/commentary work - that's what really gives an impression of what a bikes like for the would-be-owner and rider. Hope the reviewer didn't suffer you much. But what's also terrific is the 1290R itself - and the amazing job ktm are doing in making real improvements year after year. Only downside where I am - UK - is the relative lack of dealers. Thanks again - great work!
Nice review of a pretty sick motorcycle. Been grooving on these things since my brother in law brought home a 1090 R a few months ago. Glad you were able to catch your crash on video! I'm currently nursing a broken leg from as dirt bike crash a week and a half ago but my batteries were dead and cards full when it happened.
Y’all have me convinced I need the 1290 adventure r now. Thank you very much. Great video
Well, there went your career as a leg model.
Good review. I just checked under the couch cushions and I'm only $17,998.32 away from owning one of these bad boys. :)
dahveed284 You found 68 cents in your couch? All I have in there are dried boogers and a few stale chips...
The sad thing is was my money already. Its not like anybody else sat on the couch and left it.
Shit you'll get yours delivered before mine shows up then.
dahveed284 lol
That's 17998 closer than I am. :)
Great review dude and sorry to hear that you got hurt in the process. Take it easy mate.
This is a very informative review. Glad your ok from that crash
Sorry about your leg, I hope you recover quickly. Looks like a great bike though!
very informative and well put together!
that front light looks like an Ultraman villain
One of the best reviews ive seen!
Feel better soon, great review.
That headlight is gorgeous
Great vid Sean. Hit all the details I wanted to know. I like how you share your thoughts on the technical points that others seem to skip. Sorry about the wreck. Thanks for sharing it though. If you aren’t wrecking, you aren’t riding hard enough. ;) Keep up the good work!
Sweet ride, challenging conditions. Hope you heal up quickly. Cheers.
Ouch! Didn't see that coming but great review I hope an pray you heal up fully and fast did the cliff do any damage to the bike I'm just curious what a fall does to the bike I would hope that didn't hurt the bike? I'm down with a hurt back but hopefully I can get fixed and get this bike soon
Nice review. Please get you an image stabilization camera for off road reviews. One question. If you could have one enduro adventure bike what would it be?
Good to know you're okay.
Nice review though. Thanks !
Awesome review, thank you !!!
Awesome review!
can you tell for sure that the db killer in the Akrapovic is removable?
i heard it is not for the new 1290 and 1090
thanks
You rode the heck outta that thing.
I have this bike being delivered in less than 2 weeks and I don't think i have ever been this excited!!! Thanks for the best review on the internet for the 2017 R.
Hope that leg has healed!
Nope, it's 10 months later.... the tissue was actually liquified under the skin in the crash and it clotted and then had to be cut out about three weeks later... looked like a big gaping shark bite after the doctors were done. Now, it's healed-over with fresh skin but will still be a big dent and scar in my leg for the rest of my life.
Did you have proper dirt boots ?
Would u know if the1290 would leave the rider with mild shoulder pain and hand tingles after long term riding (100-200) in one sitting? I commute 300 miles round trip
You called that one right "the suffering that's going to ensue" LOL!
Is this a good bike for a begginner or to fast?
I'd like to see what the upcoming 790 vertical twin will do. That much weight on the dirt is a bit much and something like a GS is way too much for an old duffer like me, even though I'm 6' 2" and 185lbs. I'd rather not be trying to pick that monster out of a mud bog or creek crossing. I friend crashed his 1190 in Baja and broke his leg in the middle of nowhere. He's a tall dude and had a helluva time picking up his bike and getting to a doctor. Thankfully he made it. He previously rode his 950 ADV twice, end to end, on the Continental Divide. Looking forward to the 790ADV review. Get well soon.
Wow this is powerful bike ..I lov it👍👍👍
whrn is the 17 liter bike shootout?
Ouch, glad you are ok!
Would it launch in India ???
Oh Boy...😂, didn't see that one coming.😂
Sorry to see you got hurt ( but your comments were priceless). Just one question since Motorcyclist seams to be in the know......Why is KTM NOT importing the 1290 Super Adventure "S" ?? I would think they would sell SO much better than the "T", from which if the leftover 16s in my area are any indicator, not to good. I for one.. want one bad!!!
Can't wait for the review against the Multisrada Enduro
Can you tell me how tall you are? I would like to know because I might be interested in the bike but I'm always a bit hesitant with these big heavy bikes because I'm just over 5'8 which is problematic with these bigger bikes.
I'm 6'2" and 245 Lbs.
👍👍👍I lov this
Great channel, Big CC adventure bikes are hanging on by their teeth, Dakar bikes are showing us that. 450cc! even cars are going that way, Focus ST line 1.0L, 3 cyl, the BMW 310 GS is the writing on the wall, your thoughts......
The entire Super Adventure R video end up with the guy in a hospital. Getting after it. Ride the Dragon. Anyone?
Should have put a GPS navigation in that big screen.
Jim Lee there is. Link it with your phone ;)
Wow, all that for only 18k. I was expecting a price tag well into the 20s for that sucker.
That would be BMW lmao
Rule no#1 of dune riding - when unsure - send it! haha

It has a pyhsical slipper clutch too.
SA(T) feels bigger and more top heavy becuase of the 30l tank and that's probably the only reason you would pick the T, if you need the extra range.
Should I buy one of these or 3 klr 650s?
One of these, for sure.
I'm thinkin you should go for the 650
Was that spedo in KPH?
OldPackMule yes, we were in Peru, so everything is KPH.

I'd really love to get an adventure bike. But I'm afraid of the high seats. How tall do you have to be to ride one of those? I'm 5'9" and my inseam is only 30"... sigh
I'm 6'1' and my dad's 1190 adventure R is a little tall, even for me. but with a cut seat it'd probably work well
isoplus3513 You should look at the Triumph 1200 Explore they have a model that comes with a lower seat heat for shorter riders
There's a straightforward technique that's VERY easy to master to enable you to manage a tall seat height on any bike. I was taught it by a lady who's a little over 5ft tall and has finished the Dakar(!) but you can learn it at any dirt school. Basically involves sliding your bum cheek off the seat to get your foot down on one side and hooking your other leg over the seat where you were sitting. It's a lot simpler to show that explain and it takes seconds to learn it. I'm amazed this dirt technique isn't taught to all road riders as it's useful where there's negative camber etc
You are tall enough
I love ktm ❤❤❤❤
"I'm gonna go over this...oh fuuuuck!!! OHHH!!" Lol that looked painful. That bike is badass though no doubt. Didn't look like it even felt it considering it was lugging around a 260+ pound dude.
Another review where the manufacturer pays for you to fly around the world and ride their bike, and in exchange you heap praise without any sign of criticism whatsoever. Not even the insane weight or price.
Chris Doms cheaper and more fun than a bmw though.
Does anyone do a review on these bikes that just ride them on fire roads or graveled roads or maybe two up like the vast majority of us will be using them for. It makes an interesting video but I'd like to know how many people that buy this machine actually go blasting through single track in the forest or jumping off cliffs or climbing up steep rock walls. I guess I'd rather see a more real world review once in a while.
Just wanted to check can 5'5 feet man can ride it without any issues :P
That's going to be a stretch. I'm 6'5" and can barely flat foot it.
The difference between this and the Multistrada enduro is so great, i wouldn't even consider the Ducati by a country mile. It seems wider, bulkier, and god that bike is ugly. This bike is GORGEOUS. And I'd trust KTM over Ducati's reliability any day. So many horror stories with Ducati, but when i was working at a KTM dealership, the customers never had anything but positive things to say and never had issues.
Fz07/Mt07 vs Monster 797 please
fz.. easy
michael williams why?
Price, better chassis, more "fun", better engine characteristics, better track bike/street bike, better styling. The suspension is the only downside with the fz.
michael williams better styling?? 🤔
And the suffering literally ensued. :D
I heard these bikes ar gnarly but they break way too much.
Dunes are treacherous when the sun is high in the sky. we've all done the exact same thing man. ibuprofen is your friend.
Lmao hard to tell depth in the desert
Good review... You could lose a few pounds though.
Hey thanks! I've been wondering what was wrong with my clothes lately.
It's AluMINium guys.
Al-u-fucking-min-i-um.
Read the PT FFS.
He crashed because it wasn't light weight hard-enduro proper for such terrain! Nice bike for open space, but you can't take it to serious off -road, mountains. The crash proves it.
No, the bike had absolutely NOTHING to do with my fall. There were two factors in the crash
1.) Difficult lighting that hid the ledge from view until the very last instant.
2.) A rider without enough dune experience to know not to ride into the unknown when the light is flat.
I simply rode straight off a 15' vertical drop at about 16 mph. There wasn't any warning before the drop, the bike and I hit the bottom at almost a 90-degree angle and came to an instant dead stop. The same thing would have happened on any other bike, even the lightest two-stroke.

You know it better! Wish you quick recovery! Thank you for the video! it's so pleasamt to watch, like I own and ride it myself :-)
Anyone that rides could tell you Do Know how to ride, so the comment about the Hard Enduro was just a "Rookie" comment. I'll Bethany at the KTM DEMO day next week and this bike is on my list. Great Vid!
si tan solo estuviese en español😖
Looks heavy.
Nice bike! But... KTM does not warranty it's electronic components, nonsense! That is a deal breaker straight up.
God forbid you drop that thing.
CycleCruza That's why you buy a dirt bike. I don't see why anyone would rather buy an adventure bike for offroad rather than a dirtbike. anyways, hey Cycle Cruza haha.
CycleCruza buy this cruza
Cruza buy it!!!
Ohad Slime Maybe because its more comfortable for longer rides its not made for jumping over rocks..
Not a problem if it falls over you pick it up. Very easy.

Wow this is powerful bike ..I lov it👍👍👍
