- Did you know there was more than one type of waterspout? Some are formed during fair weather, whilst others are formed in the same ways a tornado, as a result of mesocyclonic action within thunderstorms.

Even though tornadic waterspouts are the stronger ones, fair weather waterspouts should still be approached with caution, because they can have the potential to pack a lethal punch.

Are there any theories on how far below the surface waterspouts might change the pressures and what not. You can see bubbles coming up to the surface for a few meters behind on the close hd videos. I've always wondered this.
So basically what you're trying to get to is that fair weather waterspouts are basically non-supercellular landspouts over water, while tornadic waterspouts are formed exclusively from supercell thunderstorms.

Nope. Even vast majority of tornadic water spouts have very different dynamical process from supercellcular tornadoes. They form from the outblow boundary of the spreading downdraft.
Correct. Tornadic waterspouts are only associated with mesocyclones, hence the name tornadic waterspouts or tornadoes over water. Fair weather waterspouts aren't associated with mesocyclones, however they're still tornadoes regardless, just not mesocyclonic tornadoes.

Even though Fair weather waterspouts are Weak they still should be taken seriously because all tornadoes are no laughing matter and if there are filmers who decide to film a fair weather or tornadic waterspout be sure to know what your doing and be prepared for anything

Fair weather waterspouts actually don't climb from the water up. They also come from the clouds down.

80 - 100 mph

look up the 1998 door county tornado to see a violent tornadic waterspout, no ship can withstand that

A tornadic waterspout should still be considered as a tornado warning down in FL even if the tornado is on open water because it could easily go to shore and become a real deal tornado as well as fair weather water spouts even though there the weaker ones they still should be taken seriously all tornadoes are no laughing matter and if u pursue them be sure to chase them smartly and wisely and be sure to be one step ahead of the storm
@@liampanther6078 No it should not. Tornado warnings are for mesocyclonic tornadoes. The dynamically process that forms them are quite different from 99% of the waterspouts you see in Florida.

So both are formed on cloudy days NOT blue sky sunny no cloud days
In theory a Fairweather waterspout *COULD* , but I don't think its ever happened
There's a legend that tells: "if you get sucked into a water tornado, you disappear for good, because you get sucked up into the sky and disappear for good, never to return back alive again..."
Theres also a legend about a dead man walking.

For the tornado most associated with this legend, look up the Jerrel Texas tornado.
