Amazing 747 jumbo jet low pass over the Golden Gate, "Kai Tak" comment

- Recorded during the San Francisco Fleet Week 2010, California, September 9th.
Please note that the Golden Gate is the strait that joins the San Francisco Bay to the Pacific Ocean, and so the famous bridge, the Golden Gate Bridge, is named after the strait. In this video, the airplane flew over the Golden Gate, the strait, and not the bridge itself, first heading southwest over Angel Island, then continuously turning left to cross the Golden Gate heading south, and eventually pointing eastwards when flying past the northern rim of the San Francisco city, when the video ends.
This was a planned maneuver for an air show. The airplane was well clear of the Golden Gate Bridge at all times. It was not dangerous. Identical flying with this plane type had been performed several hundreds of thousands of times in the past, namely on approach to Kai Tak airport, in Hong Kong. This low pass maneuver was performed four times, once per day, on recon, practice, and both airshow days. - Věda a technologie
This jet is in my heart for forever! This jet maybe out of service in 2020 but it’s not forgotten by aviation lovers like myself
It was there two years ago
@@acexboxit still flies, but the 747 is out of production. Meaning it’s not made anymore, I don’t think they will be fully retired anytime soon though.
@@therealsammich gotcha. Such a badass plane to see
This was the last Fleet Week in San Francisco I had with my wife before she passed away. We thought it was soooooo cool watching this big Boeing do these maneuvers. It was so surreal to see.
I'm sorry to hear about your wife, and I hope this video brought you good memories and even better feelings. Cheers! :)
@@britoca Thank you.
The bird was like “i can do this too”
Tru it tryrd
LOL
I have had the pleasure of working on this aircraft and many others, but, the 747 is my all time favorite. I remember working at LAX and watching 747's lined up and taking off from just a few hundred yards away. One after another and looking like they're doing all of 55mph.....then rotate. Simply awesome, Graceful.
🥂...to the Queen of the Skies...You’re forever in my heart.
Had the the pleasure of jump seat approach. standing behind Captain, long straps, mid 70's arriving from Australia. Was a teenager when the world was a lot safer. Mind blowing and unforgettable. Not what you know.
She will always be the Beauty of the Skies. One of the great treats is swooping low over the Golden Gate on final approach. Fine Vid!!
We watched this from the 38th floor at my office. Totally amazing! But the video has the sound of the engines, which we couldn't hear from indoors, and which makes it even more exciting.
Wow...what a beautiful video...my all time favorite plane ✈️, my all time favorite bridge AND my all time favorite City! I am lucky to be living there. Thanks for sharing, appreciate it!
Shit hole
Visited San Francisco for the first time a couple weeks ago. Loved every minute of it. Beautiful city.
@@paulfitzpatrick6290 Would rather live in San Francisco then Los Angeles
San Francisco in nice, but the weather is too cold for my taste. I love my Southern California weather more.
To think 2010 is a part of history, time flies
I was in aviation....[airline industry] ..for over 20 yrs. If I can't fly on a 747-400, 800 as a pax any longer, then I want nothing to do with the industry anymore. Best airliner ever built. ✈
You get the same dramatic landing when touching down at National Airport in Washington. The flight comes in low, then banks off to the right with a view of the Washington Monument. It looks like you’ll fly right into it, and then before you know it, your on the tarmac.
that's very interesting, someone get a good video of a jumbo jet doing that approach!
Flying those big metal birds must be just amazing.
Beautiful!!! ✈️
Fantastic video!
Fantastic capture! May I feature this 747 low pass in my next video? Of course I'll provide a link back to your original video. All the best to you!
Looks very clean
Nice video!
Two great feats of engineering, in one video.
Woooow!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
United....the only 747's I've ever been on. Got to fly on four of them with United. Back when they had the grey livery.

captain yells - "full throttle, full throttle!!"
Just make a left at that big long red thing and head straight...We're somewhere in that mess of buildings... All this for a pizza delivery! I guess authentic Chicago deep dish pizza was worth it! :-)
Kai Tak airport, remembered last month of it, I shoot a roll of film 36 ( not digital ) of those landing planes........so sad coldn't keep the negative all those years ! Wish I had a 4k video to capture those wonderful turns moment of them. 4k back in 1997 ??? oops !
LOL at first I thought it was X-Plane 11's default 747 with stock scenery!
O BICHO BONITO...
bro that looks like GTA 5....
Cool
Awesome 👍
I wish I was there to see that in real life!
Thats my dude CJ doing crazy shit again
Obstacle! Obstacle! Pull up! Pull up!
Glad Lufthansa is still flying these. If they do idk why other airlines don’t.
Mayb the pilot wanted to give the passengers a sight not to forget. He succeeded
Blue Angels Show!!
jeez what a maniac!!!

When you steal the big plane in GTAV
He should be flying UNDERNEATH the golden gate bridge !! then you show that you have balls !! space enough !!
under the bridge..like R.h.c.P..song...That we need to see...fly under that sheet i bee coolest of ol pilots..
A ispod mosta, samo ko ima balls,hehe..jaja za to.Velika vatrena jaja....Ehh,Europe is crazy, man, wild wild east Eu..wild and beautiful..like S.F.girls ha
You do not know how big that is plus it won't fit because the tail would strike the bridge and also it's almost impossible to fly under The Golden Gate Bridge.
@@Aviaton-sm4bh From the water till underside is approx 70 meters! Boeing 747 with landing gear down measured to topwing is 19 meters ! So it could be done easy !!
@@jackvandenbroek147 its 3 time bigger then boing,so ok ,like Random say.."almost" impossible,so its possible hehe..just must know how to drive, la macchina...hehe.must be a real driver,ok..,pilot...like in TopG..
Adobe Premiere?
Nice
0:26 What the 💀, the bridge
it passed over it
That was close that plane almost hit this golden gate bridge
Sight seeing flying?
i always wanted to fly in a 747 since 1969 but never had the chance. are they still being flown today as a passenger plane?
Yes, the 747-8 variants are still flown by Lufthansa!
これはカッコイイw
How fast?
That’s San Francisco
Stunning although I don’t think I would have liked to be on board .
@Callum Matias I agree Callum I love planes but I’m terrified of flying !
They fly over my house lower than that.
Question how many horsepower does it have
Where is the drama ?
kai tak
Which camera is this???
it was Nikon I believe.
Ah yes when United was United and had it's own livery and not Continental's. That merger was a mistake.
@Justin Marvel Yaparihe knows -_-
Flying low pass
1:03 - that bird is flying faster...
That’s because the plane is faster but farther away from the bird
Must be a new pilot given a close encounter tour of the golden gate Bridge to newbie of San Francisco " and on the right you will see the most popular and famous Bridge of all time opps little to close here 😆😆😆😆😆 sorry for the scare "
Imagine breaking it
Golden Gate
The 747 is a symbol of an era about to end. Life's gonna get shit from now on folks. 787 I have no interest one bit about flying in. Just like getting into a Tesla Car. No character. Life needs character.
Williamsburg/Newport News airport has a flight school now, a 747 does flyovers and every other day! At first, it was cool to watch them circling around, but now it’s just annoying as crap!!🤦🏾♀️😂🤦🏾♀️
Illusion from angle....that thing is sooo far from that bridge
Superb video but I don't understand the concept of making it an NFT if at the end you let an another CZcamsr do more than 2 millions views with your original video, wich is half the views you done with this video. Aren''t NFT supposed to protect you against thief ?
"you let an another CZcamsr do more than 2 millions views with your original video"
thanks for the heads up, the video was reported. YT is supposed to automatically take down those replicas, but they sometimes find a way to trick the algorithm.
@@britoca Hello, I am talking about this video czcams.com/video/pHdy84acmbM/video.html The video I linked make 50 000 views per days, if it continues like this at the end of this years it would have more views than your video, lol.
Was that legal? I think that messed up!!!!!!
Why was that plane flying low 💀 (911)
Id hate to be driving or walking across and c that!!!,.
depleted uranium for ballast much?
And please correct the spelling of Strait...Not straight! One is a direction, the other is a waterway.
Done, thank you!
But you can't fly a drone there. I don't mean a $40 flying camera, I mean professional, compensated aerial photography employment. Forget it.
Dramatic?
Soooo dramatic!!!
Wua
I did not see any problem
2 days before 9/11s 9th year
Yow!
Ma che dramatic...???
why do this pfff

can u give me shoutout nc vid btw
Fake !!!
Am I the only one that thinks this is fake? It is fake by the way.
Hey there, I know the video looks sensational, but I guarantee you it's real. There are many other videos on youtube of that same event, and these flights took place several times over 4 days of practice runs and air show days. I just got lucky that day and was at the right location, at the right time, and so I happened to be exactly at the spot in which my viewpoint aligned perfectly for this shot, with the engine jet blast and the bridge in the background, pure luck! Cheers! :)
It's not dangerous at all and I always soil myself on planes. Move along please.
X plane 11
No..
Blimey! What a moment. Good filming too
"That's like Kai Tak man"
Love it!
Nice video, thanks for sharing. Congrats on all the news media choosing your video over the others out there. Quite a compliment. (:

Nicely shot man. This video was perfect and smooth. I was able to get the size speed and altitude of the 747. NICE!!!
Great video, I once saw a 727 and separately a DC10 do a low pass at Opalocka Air Show in Florida back in the 80s. A few hundred feet altitude, but both planes were doing close to 500 mph when they passed over.
well done from both,: pilot and cameraman, thx for sharing
The 747 is a beauty!
Yes, the GGB does look close because of "lens compression." When using a telephoto lens on a camera or video camera, the background looks closer then it should.
