Real Harry Potter fans don’t recognise the curse child as part of the canon but I’m sure it’s a great play to see even though the story line is a laughable mess.

We can agree that Cursed Child is a great experience in the theatre, but I'd argue about the quality of the story.
Exactly. I feel I'd enjoy the experience but it's definitely not canon in my books like no way in hell am i going to just casually read that.

Since this interview was right after he had watched the play, he probably hasn't taken the time to think back on it and realize that so much of it didn't make sense. As a similar Potterhead back when I read the book (Cursed Child) the week it came out, I read through the entire thing in a day and a half and I really enjoyed it because it was the first new HP content I had been given in years. At the time I didn't think anything negative about it, but now whenever I look back on the story I realize how bad so much of it is. I assume Tom still is at the stage where he loved it, but maybe in a little bit of time he'll realize the issues. Odds are he won't say anything publicly, but that's understandable.
@@RottenBen See I read it in one sitting the day it came out and knew immediately that this was not it. I'm a massive Potter fan, and was in London this past year studying abroad and I refused every opportunity to go see Cursed Child even though I've heard great things about the stage play and spent a whole day at the Harry Potter Studios Tour Museum. I think it comes down to the fact that I have had a 15 year grudge against the epilogue and many of the "romantic pairings" that Rowling kinda threw together so that definitely didn't help the Cursed Child ease into my head canon.
@@rjtavares1480 Yeah, I was a dedicated Harmony/PumpkinPie shipper and then the Half-Blood Prince came out, got the spoilers, and just stopped reading. The magic just died. Until Fantastic Beasts came out, and then I fell back into it...well until something else screws up.
I could watch entire shows with those two.
It's adorable how much of a Potterhead Tom Holland is. It would seem that he fixates on entirely different things than I do because I got everything but the train station and he pulled that answer out no problem. I do wonder if he's still in denial about being a Hufflepuff though.

@@tdoom1354 he said he read the books, but maybe it was a while ago and he forgot some stuff. It's easier to remember the movies because most people rewatch them but don't generally reread books

I have been avoiding to see the play too, mainly cause I can't treat it as canon. It's more like a fanfiction to me, a great way to bring all the fans together back into the Wizarding world. I am sure the production and costumes and just the full environment feels magical throughout the play. However, wth is the plot... And lots of people are out of character OR there is complete erasure of character development for some. It just frustrates me as a fan of the books and the films. 🤷🏽♀️ Besides, the whole time travel thing was done first by A Very Potter Sequel musical, which btw I enjoy much more 😆 Perhaps one day I'll go see it if I treat it as an independent project lol

I did that... hated the story but went anyway because I was in NYC and no chance of seen it where I live. It's a full on comedy... so when you treat it like fanfiction, and you accept that, OMG is awesome. Like, truly an amazing experience. Please if you're able to do it, go. All the magic on stage is beautiful, you won't regret it.

how the hell did tom know the train station from half blood prince (which I swear they never say out loud) but couldn't get thestrals which are like a key part of the second half of the books, and the quaffle score which is mentioned in every book XD

Okay.... Some of those questions are actually incredibly difficult. 10 points, Oculus Repairo (spelling?), and Thestral were the only ones I could get as a huge huge Potterhead. I've watched the movies dozens of times, read the books many times, I watch every SuperCarlinBrother's and Harry Potter Theory videos, and I still couldn't get the other questions. lol
the questions are definitely harder than last time!
My two sisters and I saw the US Broadway production when it was two parts. It was incredible, and I feel sorry for anyone who has to see the condensed version. I wouldn't go see it again unless it goes back to its original two-part play. I don't want to spoil anything so I'm just going to say that it needs to go back to the full plot line.
