Just got done changing the damper to my frigidaire. The process of removing and putting on the damper was easy the hard part for me was putting it back together. Some advice put the long screw in the back next to the damper first it will save you a lot of time.
Thank you so much! This was exactly our problem with our Frigidaire side-by-side, 6-year-old refrigerator. Watching your video twice, then ordered the part (same part as yours), and wallaahh! Our refrigerator is now running perfectly again! Took about an hour or less to swap out the part .... took about 4 hours for the temp to reach 43 degrees and okay to restock. Running at 41 degrees right now. I cannot thank you enough, dude!!

What’s the name of the part so I can get one as well
Thank you very much, my friend.
With your very clear instructions I was able to swap out the damper
in my Frigidaire side by side and the temperature came back to normal.
Thank you for the gracious generosity and the teaching of skills.
May the Force be with you.
What's the part? I need one! I just took mine off and it's not working
I had the 5 beeps with the flashing digital H1. If you open your freezer door while holding your hand over the vent in the top left corner of the refrigerator, you should feel air circulating. If you do, your issues is that the return air flow, on the left wall hidden by the top draw, is frozen and not allowing circulation. Get rid of the ice before replacing the damper. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice and the H1 disappeared as the temperature in the refrigerator dropped to normal again.
Thank you brother! This video led me here and saw your comment and checked for ice. Sure enough ice build up! Hair dryer worked like a charm. This video and your comment saved me big $$$!
rob mcwhorter hi how long after did the fridge start working? I melted it wtih the hairdryer but still giving me the h 1
Maybe you need to clean out the condenser coils. They are located under the fridge behind the toe kick and to the rear of fridge. Remove cardboard and vacuum real good with a bottle brush or vent brush🤩🤞💪😁
@@tarademarie2404 after I used the hair dryer for a few minutes, i noticed air was coming out of the damper again. Just for kicks, I popped off the lower left panel in the freezer side and the coils were iced up to the top. I used a hair dryer to melt the ice and quickly closed the fridge and monitored the temp for a couple hours. This worked for me.
@@robmcwho where do i look... I'm having the same problem.. i have the ice maker i feel the air blowing but looking for the other vent that could be frozen.... can you assist me with a pic possibly
Thanks so much for your video, I’m a woman and was able to change damper very quick, just had to buy the part, a power drill and a double end long 1/4 screwdriver bit.
Thank you so much. I had the H 1 error code, I was able to fix my fridge with your guidance by replacing the damper Assembly.
Thanks a bunch, an independent single lady was able to fix her refrigerator because of your video!
You’re welcome I’m glad my video can help
Thank you so much for this video! Hardest part was getting the part asap. Was able to bypass door on broken part to allow airing fridge until I found new part next day to save my groceries. Installed new damper in about 6 mins!
Hi how did you bypass the door to allow air to come through?
I also bypassed it. Remove the whole assembly and push open the damper and plug it all back in. Voila
Thank you! My sister and I were able to fix our fridge! We are pumped! Great video
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Many thanks! Your videos are to the point and very effective. This fixed out issue in our frigidaire side by side ffss2315ts0 which had an error code H1 on the fridge side. Went through all your videos and determined that this was the best first part to check and BOOM! Thanks so much! Keep up the good work!
I am glad that my video can help thanks for watching💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
It worked! Your excellent video gave me confidence to attempt this repair, and saved me $3000 for a new fridge. Like and subscribe.
I’m glad my video was able to help you thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Same with ours!! Thank you for the video!! And the link to the part!!
Thank you very much for taking the time of your day and do helpful videos like this you saved my 5 year old fridge and you definitely save me some bucks because the damper was not cheap thank you very much 🙏🏻
Thank you for posting this video. It saved us getting a new refrigerator. Very informative and helpful video.
I have this exact fridge I have the H1 code and im confused on how to tell if it is the damper or the thermoster?
I had a Maytag from 2000-2003. It lasted about 20 years. The repair was going to be over 500 so I decided to get rid of it and bought a new Whirlpool.
I really appreciate it!.. we have a Frigidaire side by side refrigerator. This video has helped us.
You’re welcome thanks for washing my video💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
great repair. i have the same one, broken for the same thing. still not working after replacement. Getting those back 2 screws in is a terrible ordeal. It is all plastic and nothing lines up properly. I really hate this refrig, POS in my book. Takes nothing away from this video which is very good.
It was ice blocking the flow of air. Read my post.
Very clear instructional video (and good point about taking photos)
Thank you so much good sir. I was able to fix our fridge with your guidance. Thank you for making this video🙏
banesa perry you’re welcome I’m glad I can help thanks for watching my video💯👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for all the help, you saved me several hundreds on a new one!!!!!!!!
Okay, I just ordered the part and my son will be attempting to DIY. You made it look easy so fingers crossed :)
What if it’s flashing H1 on the freezer said ? Well the damper fix it ?
Thank you! This saved me a lot of money, and I got it back up and running again quickly.
Thank you you saved up a lot of head aches I will order the part as I text
How did you determine it was the air damper and not anything else ?
Thank you. I saw that mine was not real cold last night as I got a beer. This important. LOL. This morning the same. I shot the fridge with my laser temp gauge and it was50 degrees. I took this unit apart and found that the damper would open on power up, then close. Freezer is frozen solid. I ordered the part and should be here tomorrow. Hope it works. I jerry rigged the panel so I get cold air into the fridge. Now wait and see if it cools down. Hope so.
Hi!! How did you rig it to get cold air to the fridge? I'm trying to get a new part. My freezer is working great but zero cold air blowing into the refrigerator. Of course this happens right after I went grocery shopping.
Thank you so much for sharing video. Very helpful.
Will it works for the freezer
Thank you so much, my bro. Soooooo helpful. I'll now order the damper.
Ken Akoh-Arrey you’re welcome thanks for watching my video💯👍🏻👍🏻
@@DIYRepairsNow I need to update that I went ahead, ordered, installed, and it's now working perfectly.
Ken Akoh-Arrey I am glad to hear that my friend thanks for the support💯👍🏻👍🏻🤗

Thanks for the video you saved me a time and money $89 for part 30 minutes of my time
Cortez Cornett i’m glad I can help thanks for watching my video💯👍🏻👍🏻
Hello, I am having this exact issue right now. No cold air is coming out of the damper. How did you know that the damper wasn't working properly? I took a video of the damper and it looks similar to the damper in the beginning of your video. Thanks for any help!
Man, I did what you said and it worked! Thank you so much!
very helpful thank you very much
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for this video. I replaced the air damper and found that the vent hole to the freezer (towards the bottom, next to the top crisper drawer) was completely frozen shut with ice. So i defrosted till it all melted.
My fridge is cooling again now but, even set to coldest setting, only reaches 41-42 degrees. Thats not cold enough What should i do next?
This worked for me! Got it on Amazon! Thank you!!
you’re welcome thanks for watching my video
Well done Sir..
This way a great instructional video. Very straightforward and step by step. Much respect to the narrator. You can tell his first language was Spanish but his English was spot on. Most Americans can't speak Spanish and when they do I usually throw up in my mouth. This was a great video
Hello there, how did you test to see if the damper was defective?? I removed the bottom back panel and noticed the condenser fan motor was not spinning. Do you think this is a bad condenser fan motor? Freezer works but the refrigerator side gives the same H1 code. Thanks in advance!!
Most of the time the damper is broken and you can see where it is actually broken if the fan motor is not working you need to make sure that it’s not on defrost mode The refrigerator turns off around every eight hours If the compressor is running and the fan is not running replace the fan motor
@@DIYRepairsNow I just got a tester and I will test the motor. I ordered the fan motor and it arrives tomorrow. I don't hear the fan coming on at all during the time I'm here after work.
Do they sell the damper at home depot or menards? Somewhere i can get it quick so my food doesn't spoil?
Well done thanks for the video
You’re welcome thank you for watching my video 💯💯👍🏻👍🏻
What kind of test you did in order to determine its the damper problem? Mine has a H1 on the freezer side and 3 on on the refrigerator size. Thanks much for your help!
I’m wondering the same thing, 5 beeps and H1 on freezer side. I’ve tried everything! So frustrating
Thank you for the video, I just replaced my air damper and it works!!!
Thanks my friend!!!... you help me a lot !!! 👍👍👍
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Thanks.
Mine has the same exact problem except I get the H1 on both sides. The weird thing is that the Fridge doesn't cool but the freezer slightly over freezes. Any advice?
just go ahead and make sure the damper is open and close correctly when you open the refrigerator door issue operate if you press the light switch issue open or close record with your phone by the vent if it doesn’t open or close when you press the light switch go ahead and remove the damper and replace it also look for a visual brake components as I show in the video
Have you got it to work? I'm having the same problem.
Having this same issue today and not sure what to do.
Your video is very nice but you didn't tell people how to set the numbers and what numbers should they be set on. This is very important because some people don't have a book telling them what number to set them on.
thank you for the video. very helpful!Do you know how long freon lasts? I put freon in compressor 2 years ago and now im getting code again
freon never waste if you have to add Freon it’s got to be a small leak somewhere end if the leak it’s in a vibration spot it might get bigger if it’s not in the vibration spot it just stays the same
freon doesn't go bad. Growing up we had an old General Motors refridgerator. My guess is that it was manufactured in the late 40s-early 50s. An older brother ended up with it. As far as I know it's still working. Only thing we had to do is to defrost the freezer once in a while as frost would build up and reduced the space we could use. It survived at least 4-5 moves. You couldn't stop this thing. They don't build or design them like they used to. Now most products are expected to work for several years and gets discarded when it stops working.
Does this fix the problem if the error code is on the freezer side too?
Thank you . Repair was completed with your help !🙏
How long did it take to actually cool??? I don’t know if I did something wrong. No cold air coming out.
Thanks for your video's I was wondering if you could help me my Frigidaire side-by-side was flashing H1 on both freezer and refrigerator side the freezer was over freezing refrigerator side was warm so I opened a damp wind dampener hair dampener and now it's working it's not flashing codes but the ice maker and the water is not working
Thank you so much awesome video you are a life saver !!!!! got a new sub here!!!!!
greg bauder you’re welcome thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
How do you check the damper without removing every thing?
if you see dumper is closed (use mirror) just set fridge temperature maximum cold, in this case dumper supposed to open to let cold air from freezer go into the fridge compartment, if you see dumper still closed probably malfunctioning. Make sure dumper receiving power from main computer board (to check it you can use voltage tester pen )
Thank you so much
I have that code but the freezer side is icing up and over freezing would that still be the damper
czcams.com/video/mgThlNC4MGo/video.html
Very good video. Thanks!
Fantastic! Thank you so much for the FREE help!!
after changing the dampers (H1 alarm is off) how long do i have to wait till it cools? its blowing cold air but now as strong as i was hoping.
If you don’t keep open the door you will see a difference within three hours but the manufacturing sad that el will adjust the temperature between the freezer in the refrigerator within 24 to 48 hours
Is this ALWAYS caused by the damper and not just a bad thermostat? How do you know which?
How did you know it was the damper an not another issue?
You need to hold the light switch and you will put your hand on the air vent if there’s no air blowing is the damper once you remove it you will see the part that is broken inside
@@DIYRepairsNow thanks! I appreciate your response.
Hi great video, will the same part you installed work with a model # FFHS2322MBLA ? My air Damper works so not that part but the other in back with wires .
So just replaced mine. Super easy. Followed the video but now the freezer side is blinking H1. What do you think happened?
That means the freezer hast lower temperature just try to keep the door close for a little while if that doesn’t go away it’s probably low on Freon and it has a small leak
@@DIYRepairsNow thank you!
Update to my problem... I did exactly what the video said. Then shortly after. A couple of hours later my fridge started to beep again. Then both freezer and fridge were blinking H1. So I took everything out and stored it somewhere else. I took the fridge outside and let the whole thing defrost completely. I went over what I did from the the video just to be sure and double check the plugs. It has been working great ever since. Thanks again!
thank you so much this help me so much keep it up!!
I have a similar issue with this model but instead of flashing h1 it flashes 4 when it is set at 6. After a while it will go back to 6 and stops flashing then about 5 or 6 hours later it will go back to flashing 4 on the refrigerator side. Is it the control panel ?
Hey dude thank you!
You’re welcome thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Sir, you just saved me $$$$
The amazon part linked is not the same part used in the video
I got the wrong one as well
Awesome video bro, u saved me here
Fix It Bro thanks for watching my video👍🏻👍🏻💯💯
Can you please explain how you knew the problem was the air damper?
@ DIY REPAIRS NOW
Th dampener was stuck frozen it seemed
I unstuck it and re installed it
It is staying open now
But the code is still happening
Will it go away??
When I open the freezer up more air blows out than when the freezer is closed is that normal??
As long as the dampener stays open I should be good??
How long before the H1 code goes away if the dampener stays open
Or is it something else?
My freezer blinking H. It beeps and everything in freezer defrosted. I had to throw everything away. The coil look good on back. There was ice build up in the bottom of the freezer
What would be the problem
How do you know if it's the damper? I'm having that error code, i just cleaned the coils as id never done that and i read that could be the issue. They were REALLY bad so I'm hoping that was it. But if it's not resolved then I'm back to square one. So id like to know what to look for to know if the damper is what needs replaced. Thank You!!!!
The freezer is still working??
@@DIYRepairsNow
Mine had H1 codes for freezer and fridge. The vents at the bottom on the inside of the fridge were covered in ice. I cleared it. The return vent on fridge side was iced, but cleared it as well.
Ice built up again, the freezer stays cool, but doesn't freeze. The fridge doesn't keep cool at all. The damper is open, but doesn't push cold air into the fridge side.
What may be wrong?
The codes are gone though.
Thank you very much!
What size socket are you using to take the screws out?
Charlie Sizemore 1/4
@@DIYRepairsNow Thanks a bunch!!
Would this fix the h1 code are the freezer too?
I have a Frigidaire FFHS2611LWMA side by side that keeps freezing up in the freezer, ice seems to accumulate around the ice maker and drips some once ice has frozen coils occasionally freeze up too but not too bad all the time. First can you tell me where the defrost timer is located on this model. I think that could be the problem but it's not next to the compressor in back and I can't remove the digital control panel because it seems to be attached with wires to the freezer. I think that goes to the thermostat. Did you just cut it and reattach it later? What do you think it sounds like the problem is? The refrigerator doesn't get warm. Maybe a leaking water line behind the ice maker? Any advice might help. Tired of defrosting the freezer every month about. Thanks. -J
Good video do you know where I can purchase a timer control for a Frigidaire FRS6LF7FMB Thanks
What should the temperature be on both sides?
Freezer have to be a 0° and refrigerator about 37°
Do you know what causes to go bad?....i bought mine new 2 months ago!!!...it's ridiculous that already went bad with that H1 code or is something comun on frigidare brand???
Axel L. Gonzalez it shouldn’t go bad that quick if it went that is because the Part was bad for manufacturing you can try to replace it again or you can manage to leave the flapper halfway open
@@DIYRepairsNow sorry what i tried to say was that the whole fridge is new just bought it two months ago so is under warranty yet just...but thanks great video
Super I really like the explanation cause I have the same unit w the same problem. Almost call a technician. I have to order that part. Can you please send me the part number and thank you so much
Will this work on any model number? My frigidaire is FFHS2622MSN and I have a H1 code, the refrigerator side is not cooling.
How did you determine it was the damper?
Watch the whole video I explained it during the video it’s a part where you can visually see that the damper is broken

My refrigerator cools very little, and sometimes it makes an alarm type sound and then stops ringing. I want to lower the temperature of the timmer and it turns off. What will it be? Help me please.
My h 1 code is on freezer side do I repair air damper on which side?
how did you test to find out the damper int working? Having same problem after power outage. Except the freezer is working TOO WELL. thank you
The damper was open, this did not fix this customers issue. Theres a return hole next to the crisper. Mine was clogged with ice, and my damper was closed shut not allowing cool air in.
@@TheWharton09 the return hole in my fridge is also clogged with ice and I am getting the same H1 error. Does this mean I need to change the damper?
Can someone please tell me what the temperature is supposed to be on both sides?
Can you open the damper by hand?
Yes you can sometimes when I have to order the part to make it work temporary I open the vent damper half way or in the middle to make it work until I get the part
@@DIYRepairsNow ok thanks, yeah a order the part and is gonna take 5 to 6 days
How do you know if the damper is bad or if it's the thermistor..?
The thermostat is not common to go bad however you can still check the thermistor with your multimeter and the setting of kilo ohms but when the Damper is bad most of the time you will be able to Physically see that is broken in this link czcams.com/video/wHZyS_zusqk/video.html This video show you how it looks when is broken
@@DIYRepairsNow I found my problem - the pass through from refrigerator to freezer was blocked.
What if the code is on the freezer side?
Where is the defrost control board/defrost timer on this type of fridge?
Did you find it?
I just replace my air damper but no change still no working the fridge side 🥺
I had opened the damper panel to check the part because I think the wrong part was sent to me. The H1 error was showing on the fridge side and the freezer is working fine but now after replacing the panel, the H1 is showing on the freezer side; though the freezer seems to be working fine, but the fridge side is still not cooling. If I replace the air damper, will this correct the H1 problem?
Would it be the same if I'm getting the error in the freezer
After replacing the damper unit and after 24 hours, the problem was finally corrected.
I can't figure out what kind of socket driver can reach the screws in that housing. Nothing I have in 4 kits can both fit the hole and reach the screw, never mind the size. WTF, Frigidaire?
my model FFHS2611LWB had H1 show on the FREEZER display only, and it is switching from H to 1, please any one can help.. thanks
