Just a heads up about the lack of VGA-outs on 10-series and later - it's not actually impossible, but the way you go for it isn't exactly ideal as it means dealing with an OEM and volume orders (because my employer would spring for custom new GPUs, but would deny any suggestion to replace legacy monitors and mulitmedia setups until they're still alive :D) and have them to convert one of the DisplayPorts to VGA onboard - it's ugly as sin as a solution, but it works :D
Can you make a video where you do same thing but you make sure they understand that you are a famous youtuber. Would be intresting to see if they send you a good card.

I believe QQ, being basically a chinese gmail, if you don't choose an email name, it just gives you random numbers, hence why it's just a random string of numbers
there's also that people in China really like using numbers for their usernames, don't know why, just something I've noticed

I recently built my own PC like a week ago and just wanted to say that your videos have helped me a lot since I had no knowledge about PC parts before
Mee seeing the PhysX logo... "this thing will be ANCIENT"
Mee seeing it says "3D accelerator": "yeah, this will be a bottom of the barrel thing"
If they had the site running for a long time, I'd say giving out a high tier card like a 1080Ti or higher (especially "current gen" cards) would be a thing, even if it's 1 in a billion cards, then they would be able to say "yeah but look we do send out cards that cost more!", even if it's just the 1. If the site closes shortly after, yeah they didn't ship out any cards even closely matching the price of the actual lootbox.
This popped up in my recommended and I appreciate the attention to detail like actually checking to what the domain is registered too, I'll sub!

this reminded me when i build my first gaming rig, there was this graphics card (cant remember what card was it) i wanted but the shop selling the that particular card suddenly bumped up the price. So i began walking around to other shops and found this shady shop selling that very same card for a "reasonable" price, i paid the money and the guy just put it in the bag with my other components. while building the rig, i saw this "brand-less" card but it was what i wanted nonetheless. when i fired up the rig for the first time, that card started smoking and it didnt work. the following day i went back to that same shop and discovered that it had "closed down".
0:42 I don't know the outcome yet but I'm guessing it will not be $300 good.
I was not disappointed with the disappointment.

Yep I have 2 of them and a 660 out in some boxes in my garage. I use to run them in SLI mode, maybe I should print up a RTX 3060 sticker and make my own loot box site LoL

Let me guess before it's revealed: gts 450. The shroud is a dead giveaway
If you trust what the shroud looks like for identification you will be terribly easy to rip off. I got a "3080" to sell you man lmfao... * ships just the cooler with shroud mounted to it, meanwhile the gpu is safely mounted in my gpu sandwich waterblock *
The shroud and the PCB look almost exactly the same as the GTS 450 that Dawid Does Tech Stuff always gets when buying scam cards.

I had a GTX 550 Ti for years and years, and I guessed that would be a GTX 550 Ti right away. It's a neat card, even nowadays you can play some fun stuff with it, just forget about 2018 and later released 3D games.
Also, weirdly enough, I think Linus Tech Tips got GTX 550 Tis aswell when they were buying fake GPUs. Interesting how common this card is.

The address in Baker Street London is a PO Box type service. Loads of companies are registered in one building - gives the impression of a high end company if they have a London office address.
I'd love to see a follow up video of you trying it out and running some benchmarks and such.

Hey Greg, you can try flashing the BIOS on the scam GPU to its real version using one of those clip on programmers. The graphics card is likely a GTS 450 from the PCB and GPU chip. Thought it would be an interesting video endeavour.
Yeah, it's either a 550 Ti or 450. I didn't pull up GPUz when I connected it. Just wanted to see if it was functional. Will post a follow-up video at some point diving into the BIOS, etc. :-)

Also while searching I found an original non scam GTX 550Ti with that exact PCB and Chip, so it was likely an OEM board part for the mass market made by many factories and somehow ended up in scam graphics cards.

a GTS 450 is worth €5 at most... I wouldn't bother. the best way to sell/use them is as a display adapter.

I'm shocked PayPal reacted that fast with you as they haven't in the past with me and I've been a member since they started and hardly ever had to dispute any refunds. They must know your name and channel to have responded THAT quick - glad you got refunded :) - you should Frame that GPU and hang it on your wall behind you.
seriously, my account got hacked and they sent a bunch of money to some Chinese email. Even though paypal sent me an email that suspicious activity was detected and I disputed it right away, they said no unauthorized activity was found. I'm never using them again

I booked hotels through paypal, and the hotel charged my card as well as the paypal, disputed the transaction with proof that I already paid with my card too and was charged twice, and paypal said "sorry, not protected, hotel gets to keep your money" even though they said the purchase was protected. Anything google has a hand in, is evil, and the alphabet co., definitely owns paypal.
They literally blocked my account because i changed my name, when i created the paypal account back then i used my youtube channel name as it was to get the money from Machinima, but recently i changed the name to my real one providing my national document ID but somehow they blocked my account without telling me why.
Honestly it doesn't take long considering they shut their entire website down as soon as he purchased. That makes the dispute a lot easier.
That box literally looks like the kind of box you would want to make if you for some reason wanted to make a bunch of in depth tiny booklets that tells you everything you need to know about the geforce series 🤣🤣🤣

Would've been funny to buy two boxes. One without them knowing you(like you did) and one with them knowing you was a CZcams.
They include the cd because it is the 'necessary' driver for continuing the ruse. Any legitimate driver from nvidia would not function.

Would be interesting seeing a box from the actual website to see how it works. They do seem to have something about how it is randomized. It is still scummy and gambling but it at least seems more legit.
nah its not gambling because with gambling you get nothing if you lose. people calling loot boxes gambling are the dumbest people every and apparently have never gambled. sure you can say your buying the loot box for the main prize but you still get something regardless if you get the main prize or not gambling there is none of that you either win or lose 60% of your bet. so yeah loot boxes are not gambling to me. though i don't buy them because the ones in game are dumb i already bought the game why would i spend more money on them and these site always seemed shit to me. the only loot boxes i buy are amazon returned items lol.

As far as PayPal getting their money back ... I'm pretty sure that when you use PayPal goods and services, PayPal holds on to the money and only pays the seller upon your receipt of the item. Because you never even received confirmation of the item even being shipped and you disputed the sale before you even received the item, my understanding is that the seller would have never got paid. The only thing PayPal loses out on is their fee they charge the seller for using the service.
That makes more sense than them reaching into their own pockets to make it right.
I don't think this is true I've sold a lot of things with PayPal Goods and Services, then transferred the money from PayPal to my bank account straight away to use it to ship the item out. (Never had a dispute, but often had no PayPal balance left)
But how then does that reconcile with the fact that he actually got exactly what he paid for, a random gpu.
@@JCrook1028 he got a fake card that won't even work for gaming and will probably fry the system if you try to install the drivers (actually have seen this happen to another CZcamsr), which I'm sure is something the website didn't list, which would qualify him a refund under false advertising. Plus the website went down so he had now way of even knowing he was getting it. If it were me, I would've filed for a refund too.
ya they hold it for a day or two but they release it before they get the card sometimes. did for me anyways. i got the money released 2 days before the other guy ever got the card and cpu i sold him lol.

In my country, I saw the exact same GPU with a box and discs like that in my online marketplace. But they tell it was a GT 210 and cheaper than what you paid for.
A gtx210 is actually worse. They are based on similar architecture and the PCB layout is the same generation, so that's why those coolers are everywhere.
At this point in time, a gtx 550 ti would probably cost $300 as well

There was some 10 series card with VGA. You may actually run into some when buying from China/Korea markets. These 10 series cards can also have some odd memory configuration. These were sold in bulk to large Net Cafee companies. 90% of a time it is a fake, but there is that 10%.
Biggest surprise to me is getting a box at all. The card you received has $10 value for actual use and $290 old timer value. Good to see you got your money back of PayPal.

That box is is the physical manifestation of "Intel integrated Graphics" on the specsheet of a laptop in the Display adapter section
They include the Driver CD because only those drivers will work with the GPU after they've flashed the GPU to display as a 1050Ti. Some up to date drivers will install but the GPU won't work after.

Technically saying the 10 series ended support for analog display connectors isn't correct. The 1030 has multiple VGA cards. I believe the 20 series was the first series to have no VGA cards.

I have a good old msi gtx 550ti, solid card back in the days but very outdated for today. I remember the day nvidia announced discontinuing the driver support for the card. Saved up money and now bought the rtx 3070ti . Defo a upgrade but an expensive one considering I payed 20% more than sticker price.
There might be an exception or two with Fermi chip(s) in it actually worth that kind of money - like the Asus Mars 2, but that is a collectible.

My first ever gaming computer was an ASUS prebuilt. The graphics card that came installed in it was an OEM Asus GTX 1050 which did in fact have a VGA port on it. So some 10 series cards did have VGA ports

I did the same thing with a 3-ton floor jack. They sent me a tracking number from a package that was already delivered to someone in the UK...I'm in the USA...I used PayPal and got my money back...
The only loot box that was worth it to me was a snack-based one where they sent snacks from a random different country per box. It was pretty fun.

you can tell it's a fake or flashed card instantly from the cooler alone, but yes. The video connectors are also a more reliable way to tell if it's fake
arguably a lot of loot box models are a modest value add over RRP over the items found inside, possibly a closer crossover from magazine subscriptions and booster packs?
the real problem comes in that the subscription i had for 1 year, the majority of the stuff neither me or my partner particularly wanted. and didn't find the subscription worth resubbing for the next year.
Had to do all the things with the like and the comments so you get the ad revenue back hahaha
Btw, you can remove marking from gpu die yourself for lulz, just use sandpaper. I tried it to emtek 6200 turbocache and still works till this day.
@Greg Salazar were you able to get it working for any games? What drivers did you use? I got the exact same card from ebay for $50 (advertised as a GTX 1050Ti).. I kept it as a back up GPU to run windows desktop if I'm ever desperate. But I was unable to find any working drivers..
