no Linus is the son ;D
LMG Butter finger dropping tech we’re all drooling over is a tale as old as time.
got he gots fatter and fatter
Surprised you did not call the bomb squad with that power supply from gigabyte in it.
It's in that case for a reason.
That was only one model line. As if Seasonic never put out shitty products. 😒
@@nevmiku Gigabyte PSUs are way more hit and miss
Besides, it's a meme, let people have fun
@@nevmiku yeah, but they handled it *really* badly...
Notice how the talking point on the PSU was high quality Japanese caps. lol 🤣🤣
All that impressive hardware and I was blown away at the M.2 latch.
It is an cool improvement, yes, but how often does an average user REALLY need to install or remove a M.2 drive...
I was blown away by the power supply
@@Gemmmmmmmmmmmmmy I see what you did there lol
I think Marketing guidelines from sponsor probably indicated: Avoid referring to anything as Gigabyte
Why?
that's sort of how it sounded to me. kind of like how asus is now a separate entity to RoG. still owns em, but they dont have it in the name anymore
A pretty branding sells more poorly designed products! Yayyyyy
@@raj1n501 Exposed by another PC hardware channel, it was found that certain Gigabyte brand PSU's were faulty and could catch on fire. The company handled it poorly, downplaying the severity. This tarnished the company's reputation amongst PC enthusiasts.
Given this, it was a bit sus that the Gigabyte name was not mentioned at all for most of this video despite most/all of the components coming from that company.
A little stink of marketing/PR shenanigans at play in this sponsored piece, we smell through it though. 😊
@@oldyoldenough7327 I actually forgot it was gigabyte that made that psu. I also forgot aorus was a gigabyte brand. But I did realise it was hella sus that they didn't want the video to mention the company behind aorus and here we are.
I kind of hope they come out with some kind of animated "training, not crashed" screen for people new to the potentially long first boot.
the real question though is will the power supply explode?, because lets be honest, they have a reputation to uphold.
Sorry to disappoint, their Aorus line are quite disappointing at exploding
@@AaronShenghao it's treason then
@@AaronShenghao Forgetting your roots😡 how could you gigabyte 🤬
That's just bad design at the time
Was thinking the same thing.
11:26 the way how the tab crashes as soon as he stops using it is perfect
I like the fact that LMG has switched and stayed with MTs instead of MHz for RAM. Big fan. I wish we could put enough pressure on the manufacturers to finally start telling the truth.
How emphatically did Aorus ask you not to plug and replug either end of that new 12VHPWR connector? It's stated they're only rated for THIRTY connection cycles and GN/others have shown that issues can appear well before then.
that's more than unacceptable
I'm not saying that's not horrendously bad durability. But in practice, for 99.9% of consumers, will it ever be an actual issue? I can't speak for anyone else but for the last 4-5- systems I've built, I've removed the power connector from a graphics card a total of maybe two times.
@@treborrrrr I've been through 3-4 GPUs on one system, 2 cases, 2 motherboards, and have replugged them numerous times for debugging/swapping or taking a photo for selling before putting it back in (all before finally upgrading my PSU).
It won't affect the majority of consumers, and it won't immediately result in fire hazards, but come 4-5 years it may begin to affect a large section of the enthusiast community.
This also can affect the used market if the gpu end of the connector can get damaged. My r9 fury is used, and still in a good enough condition to be sold again.
You know that most of these connectors are rated for similar connection cycles right? It isn't some kind of big new thing its been a thing for a while now the pins have never been sturdy and it is something that just needs to be replaced especially if you are someone who just upgrades part by part over a long cycle of time.
For example sata cables are rated for 50 connection cycles(Esata for 5000) and problems due to disconnect and reconnect can and will happen after 10-20 times, this is something that has been around for a long time as these cables weren't designed to be unplugged often and more so designed that the average person might unplug them 4-5 times if even that before swapping to a different case or getting replacement cables or anything like that.
In a bunch of older pcs(try thinking the big pata cables) you had cables that would stop working if you bend them to far on accident or disconnected them a few times all these cables are designed to be plugged in and left there and not be messed with more then a few times.
Yes we need more durable cables but that will come at a cost of either complexity and cost or just cost itself and honestly how many times are you going to unplug and plug in your graphics card in a life time if you buy it and use it for a while?
Like father, like son. Dropping things runs in the family.
No one runs in his family.
@@binrat3020 why you gotta do him like that 💀
This is actually linus 2nd wife
For reference, That X670E montherboard costs $1200 AUD. The X670 cost $599 AUD. Its freaken nuts how expensive these motherboards are costing now.
I paid $1800 AUD for my asus z690 extreme motherboard lol
@@SoVeXeN bro why Mobos aren't that important unless you're trying to be the next splave
Man it looks like Aorus solved all the funkyness from the 570 boards, that 670 board looks freaking perrrfecttt
GPUs are getting to be the size of motherboards these days, but we're still relying on the little PCIe connector to support them. How long until it's standard to use a ribbon cable, and both the MoBo and GPU have their own dedicated standoffs to mount them in the case?
It's why I still have my Cooler Master HAF XB case, the motherboard mounts horizontally so I don't have to use GPU support brackets and such. Even graphics cards with full metal backplates sag a little on vertical mounted boards, which isn't good long term.
At this point the GPU should be mounted vertically in the chassis, right besides the Mobo. Would make for a longer case, but thinner one. We could even go back to the old days when we used horizontal cases in our desks with the monitor above it.
@@andrewt9204 The same case I have and honestly its such a nice case to have I honestly wish that kinda design was more popular as it makes so much sense to have it all flat instead of dangling from the side especially with the weight of some of these cards now days.
@@Edino_Chattino nope. that would have it looking like a PS5. on the other hand it ought to allow better cooling solutions.
I'm most excited about the Halo themed GPU... and it didn't even come in the care package.
The fact that the back plate is now attached is so useful, it was painful sometimes when I'd have to install a cooler to a am4 motherboard
I just tape the back plate in place, easy fix
Loved this video,.Very informative and interesting with a little humour added 😀. Made me to press that subscribe button
Just recently purchased the ROG Strix Z590-A mobo and m.2s are held down by the plastic swivel latches. Thought they were just to keep the screws( had screws in the standoffs too just in case I guess) from coming out, but no, no screws needed. You just pop in the m.2, push it down and swivel the latch to the right. It’s pretty nice!
Gigabyte lost the credibility when they knowingly sold non-functional power supplies and then claimed that the Power supplies were fine. These power supplies shorted the components in the middle of GPU shortage and these power supplies were bundled with the GPU. So after screwing you multiple times how can a company just behave like nothing happened.
That's the tech market for you, they'll just turn around and act like nothing happened. I think at this point Gigabyte has paradoxically distanced itself from... itself. What I mean is that Aorus, from my experience (got no clue if they suffer from the same PSU defects) has been a good brand for Mobos and especially GPUs (my first build has an Aorus elite 3060ti that runs like a dream) and it seems to be the more quality wing of gigabyte that they're pushing the envelope with. From most people I heard from, if they had a choice between a Gigabyte eagle and an Aorus GPU, they'd pick the latter.
I'd still never buy a PSU from them, I'll stick with Corsair for that.
you cant actually change the cpu backplate on those boards either as it secures the cpu mounting mechanism on as well
Luv the eject button for the GPU
Ok...that M.2 latch? Love it. That's awesome.
Jake killing these shoots. Well done!
lol the sabrent ssd is really good @ 9:05
With the click of a video it's amazing to wish for the start of ltt labs and testing. All I know is my experience of gigabyte aorus is it looks pretty but just runs.
He mentioned the 32 core second gen Threadripper. I believe the 7600X gets a higher score in Cinebench than my 2950X.. 🤯
Looks like I will need to live under a rock for the next 5 years until this gen 5 hardware becomes affordable.
Omg I am watching this the day I can't finish building my PC bcuz I forgot to take my AM4 backplate to university when moving. The fact that this one doesn't come off and is always included is awesome.
That case next to you looks really nice. :)
The GPU latch is the same from some MOBOs from the early 00's... Veeeery innovative !!
Linus drop curse is contagious!!
He drops someting
Everyone : is that a linus's bizzare adventure reference
I would pay to have all my parts arrive in a big crate like that
The new latch thing on the SSD was found out by toy companies 5+ years ago that's kinda funny
I was watching the video Linus made for Oura when it cut off at the end. Looks like it was deleted right before I finished it
That TV is genuinely distracting me alot. Can't unsee those ads coming in and out
that thunder sound was so realistic in headphones that I turned around
I loved that first scene
it's astounding to me how smart and adept at this Jake is despite being younger than me!
95 degrees while watercooled!? Can u imagine the temps on an air cooler lol
According to other reviews, still 95 degrees F... just lower performance with less effective cooling. They actually recommend a water cooler for the 79xx parts so you can hit the crazy clocks they peak at; 5.7 Ghz single core, 5.1 Ghz all-core.
Great job Jake!
Can we please get a round up of what atx 3.0 means for hardware in general.
95 degrees while watercooled? Yikes that's hot.
12:05 230W is the stock PPT limit of the 7950X. Those are not PBO numbers, and that CB R23 score was well below what the 7950X gets at stock. So something was amiss with that setup.
After having 2 different AORUS X570 Master boards (both have issues with the battery, resetting UEFI settings after reboot) and other quirks, I'm not sure if I'd trust the AORUS Master motherboard. But the numbers shown are impressive. Going to stick with the 5950x for a while though. Fast enough for everything I throw at it for a while
I was halfway finished with that Ring video and it got taken down? lol
7:35 This is normal on professional AM4 boards, i think i have an Asrock Rack X470 that has a secured backplate instead of loose fitting
most of them now have a little bit of double sided tape on the backplate as a minimum. it's pretty nice.
God I need to upgrade.
Same. At least in terms of graphics cards. I still have a 1050 haha
na..Intel will be the same way it always has been..13 to 30 percent higher priced for the same performance within a 5 percent range difference.
💸
No you dont. You WANT one.
@@ineedpineapples I'm running a core I5-650, 4 gigs of ddr3, and a gtx 750 ti...
1:32 that's basically jake asking for more allowance for dady Linus 😂😂
You have to plant that PSU to the A-site
Your video about the ring is private but still showing up in my feed. What the heck.
I love how they casually cut the issues...
Like father like son with the dropping stuff
Let's hope that Gigabyte PSU doesn't explode
11:24 the webpage crashes right after he pointing at 😂
YES, AMD and Aorus are poggers
Is this crate part of the the retail packaging? Because that would explain the prices on these X670E motherboards.
great new product
I'm going to order a PCie Gen 5 case to put it all in 😁
your way better than linus i was actually entertained AND informed lol
Jake on camera. "I'm stealing this."
Great presentation style... Dare I say, better than... oooohhhh. ahem... Subbed here!😋
You guys should do some sort of test for durability of pcie slots. I dont really believe that 2.2x stronger number.
In Gigabyte(Aorus) fashion, the vrm heatsinks thermal pads probably barely touch the vrms, or only touch some of them; just like in their video cards.
I mean my Aorus Elite 3060ti has really good thermal performance, doesn't even breach 65C on a fairly warm day under full load
The early sample name is visible at 9:25 under CPU in the BIOS
Ah, so Butterfingers is GENETIC! :)
I am excited for a few months from now, when there are a few more options available for motherboards. Cause they're actively painful currently.
Will there be a stealth edition of this board
8:28 to 8:37 Wendell's or Paul's hardware coverage of this around the 1 ro 3 minute mark shows a sticker on the ASRock steel legend board talking about 200 to 400 seconds depending on your memory configuration.
I have that same nvme it's crazy good
Damn i need this box.

Friends?
Friends? 🙁
I felt that
Sweet, I heard Gigabytes PSUs are the bomb.
A boat is just a boat, but the mystery box could be anything! It could even be a boat!
Daannnnggg Jake looking hecka big. That boy needs to see a gym ASAP!
What happened to the new video about the ring?
Wait, will the new cards not be compatible with current 'normal' power supplies?!
What!! LTT was able to get the halo 6900XT That is super neat.
I don't like that were having to use more Watts to get more performance. It's hurting my wallet. Team Red and Blue needs to figure this out.
Why did you go and private the oura ring vide, I was halfway through it
Nice they use the 12V connection on the PSU end. Increases chances of fire. Seasonic and Corsair are going for 8pins on the psu end, cause of said chance of fire. Gigagbyte created a better IED.
Where did the ring video go lol
What a mystery.
12:16 looks like the side view of south park gamer guy who was playing WoW
The comb-over is strong at LTT.
The big aluminum plate looks epic. Yeah AM5 is cool, but where do I get one of those.
I want to see you use the big crate case as to pc case.
Any recommended videos for proper setup of BIOS? ---
Why private the new video about the ring???
The sample name was shown in the bios lol
The new 12VHPWR cable looks so fragile at 2:46 , I can see the smaller signal wires getting ripped out if they get caught on something during cable routing. Time will tell but I honestly would prefer the older PCI-E cables even if they are bulkier.
That 6900XT looks so fire bruuh
4:37 This is not a motherboard, this is an architectural model for an entire hotel complex. Just build it somewhere in Las Vegas.
'Super easy, barely an inconvenience'
Yo where did that horizon ring video go??
SO what happened to the Oura ring video you guys just uploaded???
Little do most people know...that thick tubing? Is actually the cables they coil up the tubes on both ends. How do I know this. Well my Fractal 360, I modded the tubes with actual wider ID compressor tubing. And to my surprise the amount of cable length that is wrapped closely around the tubes of the Fractal is insane. About 3.5meters worth
please tell me the tv in the back is not an oled because it’s not going into screen saving mode
Only mistery box I got from AMD was the one with FX-8300 inside...
@3.58 No price.
The retail stores here in Sweden have set a price around 10k upp to 15k for motherboards like that one.
