Military holds first passing out parade of 2023

- The British Army has welcomed 67 newly trained reservist soldiers into its ranks at the UK Armed Forces' first passing out parade of 2023.
The parade at Army Training Regiment (ATR) Grantham, Lincolnshire, marked the end of the three modules that new recruits must complete during their basic training.
Skills learned over the training include weapon handling, fieldcraft and drill.

This is the thing though, it’s a bit of a tradition in and of itself. But also, as they fanny about with the entry-requirements for officers.
Many officers’ sons face a dilemma, do they still muck through and do their duty in the reserves
[the London Scottish being a place where many sound like Truperts] and maybe get a commission once in or do they respect the fact that, frankly, the men don’t want nor deserve to have to deal with us and our silly voices and silly questions, and deserve a bit of space from our sort.

14 years I did. They don’t just pitch up at the 2 week basic though. They do a selection type weekend and several weekends training in basic skills before that. To be honest even after basic it takes about a year before they are up to scratch for role. Takes a high level of motivation to hold down a civi job and do all that.
Nowadays you have your selection weekend, mod 1 which is another weekend, mod 2 which is a week long and mod 3 which is the two weeks they completed in the video

They didn't mention it in the video but this parade was on Sunday the 22nd

i find it bit strange that some of the cap badges in this clip appear to be infantry cap badges, so you can do 2 weeks training then you're a trained infantry man. when regular infantryman have to do a 26 week course.
No, they have to do combat infantry course at catterick afterwards which is another two weeks. Then if they're to deploy with regular infantry regiments they have to do further training

I'M a male soldier of 15 years service, I've never been able to get used to drill command's being given by a female, that sounded more like an unintelligible screaming kestrel. No just no thank you.
Don't worry, You'll never get to her rank.
Some can cut it, Anth Burdus, now Lt Col, could project her voice and really work a squad hard, before the days of wokeness, but she's very rare.

It is ! They are civilians with different skills , builders , engineers , drivers , supermarket workers etc , that learn the basics of military skills .
Commitment is normally one night a week the odd weekend and a few weeks training a year .
You can somehow tell they are reservists. Good on them though

Usual: the wee Reservists have to pass out in their working gear. Shame that... 👍🏴
They used to receive 2's during Phase 1, but getting them fitted out and tailored to their regimental requirements in such limited time just wasn't working. They looked awful. Also, with such limited time at the ATR, it makes sense to focus on training instead of kit issue and tailoring etc.
Working dress and CEFO is actually issued by their parent unit before they attend Phase 1, and No.2's are now issued back at their units, after Phase 1.
@@GAFloppa Ah, thanks for that. I was a a Territorial, as was, as part of my previous service, and our number 2's were kept back at the unit, to be signed out only for Remembrance Day, formal guard duties, Colour parades etc....🏴👍
@@GlasgowGallus varies from reserve unit to unit tbh - even more so with No.1 blues. In my unit we get personal issue No.2, but No.1 are more closely guarded due to the expenses involved.

I'm gonna get called sexist for this but I don't care. Fair enough if that lady at the begging of the video earnt her high rank, like seriously well done to her. However I can never take a woman shouting commands like that seriously. Especially when her vocal cords break like that. The truth is whether you like it or not, the role of a soldier was made for men. Men are meant to be the warriors of the human race hence their generally superior body build. If you believe in Jesus and old mythologies and whatnot of the history of the human race. Then you would clearly know that men have always been the hunters and protectors of their families & females, who have always been physically the weaker gender. That view is only looked down on today because modern society doesn't accept the truth and how the human race, food chain, etc is meant to operate.
