GL has basic a/c knobs that are mechanical. this is actually more reliable in the long-term for people who are going to keep this car for 20yrs or more

True….the bells and whistles of new cars (full digital instrument clusters, IPad like infotainment + AC controls, electronic parking brakes,CVTs) very nice but not too sure if it will last more than a decade. I drive a 20 year old Toyota. If I buy new car I hope it will last just as long as my old one.
This is more suited as a 2nd or maybe 3rd car (not a 1st car for a family)…it has its appeal. Small but capable. Not a racer of course. Same 1.5 engine 7 seater ertiga and even the XL7??? Niche market for those who do not like the bigger MuX/Terra/Fortuner…I like it…I drive an 10 seater MPV alone most of the time…
I would get the auto version of the 5 Dr. I have peripheral neuropathy so driving around with a manual isn’t the best option for me. I’m seriously considering getting one. I owned 2 Jeep Cherokee XJ 4wd back in the US. Keep in mind there is no ladder framed SUV bodied 4x4 that is close in price to this. I like the smaller size of Jimny for here in the Philippines.

All four Jimny generations have recirculating ball steering mechanism, which is particularly well suited for all-terrain duty, but relatively imprecise on-road compared to modern rack-and-pinion steering construction.

1.558M for a 5 seater with a small 1.5L engine with little to no features is a huge ask. Suzuki is being too greedy just like the Fortuner during 2016-2020 wherein even the top of the line model doesn't have a backup camera. Unless you go off road on a daily basis, a 4x2 Montero GLX makes a lot more sense as they're at the same price range. This pricing is an insult to consumers, Suzuki should do better.
