    Amazing! GREAT instructions, very clear and straightforward - there are other sleeve shortening videos but I haven’t found one that shows how to remove the placket. I need to shorten sleeves often and the cost has been prohibitive forcing me to find out how to do it myself! You have given me the confidence to actually try it myself! Thank you!

    Thanks Angela. Really well done demonstration. I like when tips get dropped in to a demo, like explaining why you pin the bigger placket and how you marked the button hole and how you figure the pleats out. Super helpful and a great way to teach.

    Excellent. Just what I was looking for. I didn’t quite understand why it’s easier to make the pleats on the right sleeve first, but I’ll take your word for it because you obviously know what you are doing. Perhaps it will become obvious as I work through the project myself. Another question - as an amateur but experienced sewer, what features should I look for in a seeeing machine? I sm looking to replace my old machine. Also, do you recommend having a serger?

    • @AngelaWoolsey
      @AngelaWoolsey  Před 2 lety

      If you plan to just do little sewing jobs; mending and alterations, you can go to Walmart and pick up a cheap one there. The thing you need to keep in mind is that those machines aren't the same thing that you'll get from a dealer even if it's the same brand and model number. The motors are weaker and louder. If your budget doesn't allow for a better one, than by all means get the Walmart brand.
      When I was able, I bought an Elna Explore 160 because I needed a quiet machine and one with a high presser foot lift. I do a LOT of sewing and the range of things I sew are wide. I bought mine from a dealer and paid about $350. The one drawback from these newer machines is that they're so light. If I'm sewing something thick and heavy, my machine will actually move on the table when I'm adjusting the item that I'm working on and that's frustrating. I hope this answers your question.
