5 Easy Steps To Improve Your Minecraft House

I had the idea for the intro, and couldn't wait to do it.
This is 5 ways to improve your house, please don't think that this house is supposed to be good. It isn't. It is simply intended to be for people who are terrible at building, and need a way to get their "houses" made into a real build.
This is quite similar to my rustic house tutorial, but this time i'm actually highlighting the steps you should take. This is not so much about what technique you use, rather the process of improvement.

@@obscure_genesis Maybe not the best house, but a good house regardless. The overall structure is very dynamic! Although there could be a bit more variety in the blocks, it’s a solid 7-8 out of 10 imo.

People have different preferences! Something that would normally be deemed average could be considered incredible by others. I respect your opinion but you really shouldn't be assuming people are "bad" at Minecraft simply because they like this build! If you want to criticize others (although I understand you're not doing it to be mean but in a more constructive way) then go to a tutorial specifically targeted for long-term, professional builders, rather than newbies who are just trying to learn the basics. Man, this takes me back. I remember finding this on a cold winter's night out at summer camp, bored out of my mind.
I misinterpereted a lot of this video as hard-set guidelines (as I often do), but _man_ did it set me on the right track. I've since been winning my battle with perfectionism, and experimenting a lot more, free of a fear of failure.
I've come a long way since 2015, but I will always look back on this video fondly as one of the big stepping stones towards becoming more comfortable with artistic experimentation and freedom.
Thank you, Grian. This meant a lot. You inspired me then, and you continue to inspire me now.

I remember in my first week of MCPE around 0.3.0 I built my first real house, a stone box, I added some blocks on. the top and in my eyes I had a mansion worth a billion diamonds...NOSTALGA
My first house was like a rectangle with 2 stories and was made of hay and wood (I think) and I either had a friend pink sheep or villager.
My first house EVER in MC:
A no roofed house filled with logs and ladders, cobble and crafting tables, iron ore, dirt and sand.
Now I stand as of what I would say about Grian's level and played for an official 8 years of only MCPE. I have started to make villages with things based off their jobs: Blacksmith, farmer, Fisher, librarian, etc. I happen to also get too lazy and alone and play online and on Neko Atsume which is a game about cats. Only cats.

I watched this video around a year and a half ago. All my houses were a wooden box with no roof or frame. I tried building like you but I really just couldnt. After watching lots of your videos and playing Minecraft for years using my own imagination, I truly have become much better at building. Now I know this as you said is an example of just some tips, but I have reached my goal. To make multiple houses better then the one you made in this video. I have now succeded multiple times and I can now consider myself a Pro. Now yes I understand if it were me vs you in a house building contest you would destroy me. But at least I beat you when your were going easy on me like you did in this video. So with all this said. After nearly 2 years. I can now consider myself a Pro at building.
I like to do the interior before adding the windows so that it is easier to look in windows when I place them

I know this comment is old asf but honestly I watched a bunch of tutorials and took the knowledge that the builders share (things about the shape, decor, etc.) and I started out with a random basic shape, and you just kind of apply that knowledge that you gained from the tutorials to make your house look good.

For starters:
don't think of how the inside will look, place windows and make small rooms like a mad man and just follow the next video about indoor decorations. It helps, some rooms might not have enough space for an actual room so that would be a decorative platform of the house
Extra steps:
When building on a hill, make the foundation wider and stony, make it seem like your frame extends deeper that the height of your house. This will make it look realistic and not a random box on top of a hill

Oh, god, thank you. This video addresses a good 90% of all the frustrations I've had while building. Especially, especially the "integrate into the landscape" part. These steps fix all the problems I've encountered with my fortress build, and more that I didn't even know about!

For that intro something similar happened to me. So I would consider myself a decent builder, like pre-kingdomcraft vanilla SmallishBeans builder. And one of my friends made a build, and they wanted me to see it. So I went and saw it, and I was like “You dare put this on my level” like it was a birch square. They were ultra proud of it. I just said “You know it’s good for your skills”

Only one small thing: I personally don't like the roof you've gone for, I find it very strange, the way the surface changes depth. I'm guilty of boxy structures. However, I'm also guilty of- when on a server, that is- building far from anyone and not inviting anyone to see my efficient and defensive box.
I'm guilty of making weired houses in survival: I start out with a little shack usually varying in materials and when I'm ready to expand I'll add another shack to the side and after while I just have a huge train of ugly little shacks connected forming long hallways and rooms and have never even thought of expanding up or simply building a normal house

+Onables Haha, yeah, I did that too. Mostly in my first world, so that I never exposed myself to the outside monsters. I'd make a box, then pop a hole in it and start putting more blocks around it, making weird hallways and ladder-accessible areas, walling in my path to my mine, etc. Thinking back on it, it was awful looking.
I'm guilty of thinking that my house looks awful even though it looks good.
