I bought the 6XXs recently and though they do lack a little in bass, they totally make up for it in the quality highs and mids! Glad I bought them! Thanks for reviewing.
I use the hd650s and they are stunning .. I use them both for listening to music and watching films... cant beat them for the price ... and cool cat by the way hehe very chilled out!

Andrea Bocelli is amazing on HD650's.
I got the MassDrop version, and they're buttery.

I haven't used the Dragonfly Red. Some people say it works with more power hungry headphones like the 650 but I have no first hand experience.

Haha you speak the exact same way I was gushing when my hd598 arrived. Definitely opened a new, warm world and surprisingly it's bass actually was what I really loved.. No not the sub bass which is weak but midbass - nothing I have heard before reproduced bass guitars properly. Chillstep also sounded amazing to my surprise because of the soundstage. These things will skew your musical tastes to a completely new world! You'll start feeling what you used to love worthless and new (actually old songs) genres will dominate your playlist.
But I'll tell you something though, I'm not sure if this will be the case with hd600, but after some time I was able to kind of point out the flaws in my hd598 (it is kind of grainy) and the upgrade itch is bugging me (I'm poor tho). I'm more or less looking at HD800+apogee groove and etymotic er4sr and as a beater iem, the vsonic gr07. Will take away a couple of months salary completely
If you want to have something budget, that you can use on the go that will knock your socks off - get the vsonic gr07 iem for 100 dollars.. You'll probably sell your m50x right away. It should destroy the m50x in everything - detail, nuance, stereo separation, portability, and isolation.
Thanks for the tip! I did post a video on the Status Audio OB-1 headphones about a week ago. They're not on the level of the HD650s but they're a great buy at $80 when I got them and I recently saw them on Amazon for under $60.

I second a Massdrop HD-6XX purchase for you ($199), if you’ve bought that house! No, not a basehead’s headphone, but it does improve with a proper (and reasonably powerful) headphone amp.
Cory bought the 6xx and they are basically the same as the actual 650's, which is to say, amazing. He uses them as his daily driver. I am currently waiting on the HiFiMan HE4xx from Massdrop so I can test out the planar magnetic drivers. Those won't even be shipped until the end of May, though.

Detroit Tech I'm actually fairly new to the audiophile community. But with the short time I've had something in my gut told me these were the headphones to buy.
I haven't had a chance to listen to the 6xx's but everything I've heard says they're a perfect match to the 650's just at a much smaller price tag. I haven't heard anyone recommend not buying them.
Dude, check out MassDrop. They usually have drops from time to time for the Senns HD6xx. Trust me man, you will NOT be disappointed.

You can get them for less than 400 used. I've seen the go as low as 250 used.
Also, the HD600 is generally less expensive, and is rather similar.
+ultradude54 Good call! Someone mentioned the HD600s on reddit and I did some research. The only thing I saw in the specs was a 500hz difference in the high end and about 7dB difference in output. I just want to try out the HD800. But that's definitely out of my price range.
Ya shoulda jumped on the hd6xx's 200 brand new! And imo it has a nicer cable and paint job. Basically a better hd650 for 200 bucks. Unreal.
It is a great deal. I got my 600 before the 6XX deal went up the first time though. I haven't heard the 650, but I think the 600 is more to my tastes.

Welcome to the proper high-quality audio I guess. Don't praise the 650s too much, a lot of other headphones in this category can do this just as well. And wait until you dive into the world of IEMs.

Thanks! I've always loved music and audio, I just never had the money to spend on high end stuff. My audio monitors (M-Audio BX8) are pretty darn entry level when it comes to those. There's just so any awesome things to try! A lot of the things I've heard about the 650s in further research, people have been willing to say for the $400 price tag, they'd put them up against many $800 headphones. What do you think?
Depends on the headphone itself, but the general rule of thumb is that the difference between a 100$ headponhe and a 400$ headphone is huge, but between a 400$ headphone and 800$ headpohne is much smaller and more subtle and for many people not worth the price tag.
But on the other hand, give the HD800 a try if you can, in a store or something like that.
Yeah, the law of diminishing returns is very real. The HD800s are 100% on my list now. Looks like I need to start begging on the street! I really appreciate the input!

I don't know why people read while reviewing. Atleast be less discreet. Use B roll footage during these times. Oh and lose the plant, why do most people have plants next to audio equipment? 😂 Too many followers and not enough leaders. This is why I prefer to read reviews than watch videos.
Bland and ordinary headphones that do nothing wrong but little to excite. even driven with a valve headphone amplifier they seldom achieve brilliance. sorry. and this comes from a lover of sennheiser hd 414 days.
