The simple fact that more than 50% of these songs were written sometime WAY before CZcams is just showing how strong and emblematic rock songs are. For the comparison, I've found a similar video about hip-hop song and 9/10 of these were quite recent (within 10 years), almost none of them exist before youtube.
Damn these 60's, 70's and 80's decade were so strong !
Also shows how dead the Rock genre is in mainstream when none of the recent songs make this list.

AC/DC , Linkin Park, Green day,Guns N Roses,led Zeppelin,Bon Jovi and even cold play(all my fav bands) just holds the stage is just phenomenal.
Moreover I would also mention Bob Dylan as somewhat rock singer and his songs are played in every households where the parents are from 60s.
I love his songs too.
Also Metallica can be mentioned,some of thier songs are hard rock+metal

They were big when MTV was at its peak. And they went notoriously heavy into music video marketing. They would spend millions on one video. I thing Estranged cost 7 million. GNR and MJ I think were the 2 that really invested the most in videos. So we (I was born in 79) have been watching these videos for years. And GNR is still touring. I'm seeing them for the first time next month.

Had i made this list, there are a few others that i wouldve included, namely sweater weather, she will be loved, stolen dance, bittersweet symphony, my immortal, and maaaaaaybe adventure of a lifetime. Viva la vida is also a rly hazy one considering how unique it is as a song, and i wholeheartedly understand excluding that as i do the others. Also, it would be nice after some time to see an updated list since ive already noticed some changes (for example, your love by the outfield has gained quite a bit, and as far as linkin park goes, castle of glass has been passed up by new divide). Either way, love the content and please never stop making lists like these i find it super fascinating

Yes. I lived through most of this list as it happened, and nothing changed rock/pop so radically and quickly as Nirvana with teen spirit. It was crazy, and amazing. Kurt just ended hair metal and the 80s with a single song and its awesome video.

Никто не сможет отрицать тот факт, что Парк Линкольна была самая востребованная, интересная, неоднозначная, да и просто феноменальная группа. Все остальные в это время были разве только пшиком. Coldplay , gorillaz, Muse и тд: да, коллективы монстры, но не дотягивали до уровня Парка. Они подняли свой уровень запредельно: вы слышали Muse? Возможно вы слушали Coldplay? Но все в один голос скажут: ооо, это Linkin Park, стоит первым нотам зазвучать.
Это скажут даже те, кто никогда LP не слышал в своей жизни?
Здесь примерно такое же сравнение, как Цой-"гений" в сравнении с Арией(где последние - "ну да, слышал про Кипелова", а первый - "легенда", как Король, - только голый...). Только тут попадание сильнее: зарубежные два примера банд будут буквально из одного поджанра Рока, остаётся только сказать: "Как жаль, что Линка, - слишком переоценена."... Отсутствие рифмы, довольно слабый текст, которым говорят прямо, без аллегорий и художественной подачи, иногда бессмысленный. По вокалу и инструменталу, конечно, нет и не было вопросов, - чего стоит аранжировка Lost In Echo и подача с надрывом в In The End, но буквально соседняя группа-"не легенда" - System Of A Down любой флагманской песней обгоняет Парк. А если еще и дискографию сравнить, особенно песни с 1 000 000 минус просмотров, то там всё еще очевиднее.

Я не хейтер Линкин Парка, - не кИдайтесь, - знаю фанатиков... Я хейтер субъективности, выдаваемую поносом со словами "легенда", без объективной оценки сказанного.

Many bands in the 60's made music videos. They were called "promotional videos." They appeared on any number of TV shows. There just wasn't a network dedicated to showing them. 😊 I'm surprised it took till the 80's for someone to come up with the idea for an MTV.
