Woonasquatucket River Watershed Flood Protection Project | Public Meeting, June 10, 2021

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), the Town of Smithfield, Rhode Island and the City of Providence, Rhode Island co-sponsored this public informational meeting to discuss the proposed Woonasquatucket River Watershed Flood Protection Project. The Woonasquatucket River Watershed has experienced repeated flooding that causes damages to residential and commercial development infrastructure and presents a public safety risk within the developed floodplain during periods of intense rainfall. The preparation of a Watershed Flood Protection Project Plan - Environmental Document that seeks to address these flood risks is currently underway.
