    Dan It's a breath of fresh air to see someone who actually knows what he's doing, so many CZcams bodgey merchants doing van conversions and leading the blind to follow blindly.
    I'm an ex tradesman and I cringe at the pallet wood jobs.
    One very popular youtube vanner has just done a new van and I just can't watch the butchery anymore, maybe I'm just anal but my dad was a builder and he taught me there's only two ways to do a job, the right way and the wrong way. Keep on the good work mate !

      Thank you very much for your nice comments. My dad taught me a similar way he told me always build it as though its your own and if your not happy with an outcome change it and its served me well.
      Many thanks for watching 👍 happy new year.

    The most useful video I've found so far on fitting Seitz windows. Am I right in thinking that the outer frame conforms to the curvature of the panel when you tighten up the screws or did you have to add additional sealant?

    • @dantheman321
      @dantheman321  Před 2 lety +2

      It does conform to the shape upto a certain point and then you would need extra sealant but with most vehicles it does 👍 many thanks for watching

    Great video as always - I would be a bit reluctant to use a bit of 2 by 1 for this application - ply would be a better option here, particularly given the tight tolerance to keep the blinds working - the quality of spruce normally available is dire , it's worth the extra effort to use an engineered product .

      Hi Fraser, I understand where you are coming from but I've used this method for nearly 20 years and it's never given me a problem. You could say it's tried and tested 😂.

    Great video - thanks. If you still pick up these comments: it doesn’t look like you used any sealing gasket or strip with the butyrub? I’ve got an old van and I think it has sealing gasket BG1079 around the frames - have you come across that? Also - do the fixing screws self tap into the external frame or do they go into preformed holes? Thanks

    Hi dan excellent instruction , when you put the window in do you have a varying thickness of butty Rub on the outside to compensate for the curve thanks for a great lesson

    • @dantheman321
      @dantheman321  Před 3 lety +2

      The external part of the window will shape to the vehicle more or less but you may find that the butty rub is thicker at the top and bottom of the window slightly.

    Thank you for this. Best vid of window install I've watched. I need to reseal one Seitz window. Professional conversion so I'm hoping they didn't use Sika to install! What do you use to clean the old sealant off?

    • @dantheman321
      @dantheman321  Před 2 lety +2

      Hopefully they haven't used sika as it doesn't tend to stick to the window just the metal work of the van and that will be hard work to remove too. Try to stay away from turps or white spirits as this will turn your black window frame grey, I've used panel wipe before and that worked👍 many thanks for watching.

    What sikaflex did you use to bond window

    • @dantheman321
      @dantheman321  Před 3 lety +4

      You don't use sikaflex to bond windows in, use a liquid mastik or something called butty rub by soudal. Many thanks for watching 👍

    Did you fix you blind upside down on purpose? ??

    • @errolmagill1611
      @errolmagill1611 Před rokem +1

      All Dometic instructions and diagrams shows it the way he fitted his. I think it is that way because you should only close the blind two thirds when there is strong sunshine - to prevent heat buildup between the blind and the glazing.
