playing more than 8 different pitches per second is the human ear threshold to distinguish them from each other, otherwise only direction of travel and top and bottom notes in a phrase can be perceived. Hence, double up on repetition by alternate picking, or downpick with palmmute for that uncompromising pick attack. To promote effortless execution, use grouped/chunking twitching movements from the wrist. Use the arm and shoulder primarily to stabilise the picking hand.

YOOOOOO I feel like you two should have a permanent show. I feel like Herman Li and Jason Richardson are like two of only a small few people who pushed the envelope on pure old school metal shredding in the 2000s, and honestly of these guys were probably alot of peoples first guitar player who made them say "Okay I did not know that was fucking possible until right now". There's been alot of good guitarists in the 2000s but in terms of just straight setting the fretboard on fire balls to the walls speed metal shredding these two are the ones whove kept that spirit alive in a big way
I only found out who Jason Richardson was a week ago, now I'm obsessed with him I'm looking at guitar world videos featuring him, interviews with him. He is the first guitarist that made me want to try music for a career because he is a modern shredder making money from tabs and songs and he is so good to learn from. I've completely changed my own guitar playing style in the week that I've been listening to his music

Economy is more like down up down down up down down up. Just the 2nd down changes string and gets a sweepy effect.

When you move to different strings you can :
- Move your pick up and down aka. alternate picking or
- Doing mini sweep ex. up up/down down picking(way less movement/economic picking)

I'm glad Jason does his own tabs, I bought the whole Mega Bundle and it's really good material for serious players. I also bought Polyphia tabs, but besides the ones Tim does for his solo stuff, it has tons of errors compared to how they play it because they pay a transcriber.
this might coonfuse you but polyphia play their own songs live differently. For example, 40oz is alternate picked in the studio version, but according to Tim, it's too unrealistic to pull off every single time live since he's not an alternate picking god like richardson, so he sweeps it instead. I'd imagine they play a lot of songs differently live because the studio versions are sometimes just too much. Almost every advanced technical guitarist does this, I've noticed Abasi play the woven web differently almost every time live for some reason.
@@WithBeautyAndWithLove I've seen them change it up a bit in live recordings, but some of the tabs are just straight up wrong notes lol. Even when Tim does his tutorials, it's different than the tabs.
