  • Annie Sloan shows you how to paint with Chalk Paint® in Lem Lem, her special, limited edition colour in collaboration with Oxfam. Every pot of Lem Lem sold will raise vital funds for Oxfam, helping people beat poverty worldwide.
    Annie Sloan developed her unique and versatile decorative paint, Chalk Paint®, in 1990. She wanted to create one paint that could achieve several different techniques and finishes - from creating a textured chippy look to achieving a smooth modern finish, or even creating a wash. Annie's paint is non toxic, low VOC, and very easy to work with. There's no need to prime or sand before starting - you can just get stuck straight in to the fun bit!

    The best to the point & straightforward instructive videos I have found. Thank you so very much. 😊
    I have recently started upcycling furniture - some I already owned, but looked a bit dated & boring, and some I have purchased from local charity shops. I'm really happy to have saved these items from landfill.
    My pine furniture has a new lease of life and different styles look great together once all are colour co-ordinated. I have lovely Alstons wardrobe and dressing tables in a dull beige like colour, along with a dark wood bed - they are now all painted in a light grey colour for a guest bedroom. With grey and yellow soft furnishings and accessories I now have a lovely room that impresses all of my overnight guests - and I am thrilled that it cost me so little to achieve. 👍🏻😊
    I'm totally sold on the idea & shall be checking many more of your videos. Thank you once again.

    Thank you for making this colour. I picked up my first big tin of Lem Lem today and I am over the moon with excitement. And then on the ride home today, from buying your paint, I found a free small piece of furniture on the side of the road. PS: I also got Greek Blue for something for Hubby. Last weekend I got your English Yellow. And it was my first time using your paint and I cannot say thank you enough. The shopped owner gave me a demo and was just wonderful. Really an excellent experience. Cheers, Ivy.

    i am SO thankful for your clarity on how to chalk paint! You gave me answers on brushes, waxing, etc that I had to wade through so much other information in other videos. I am embarking on my first piece, an old church pew my church gave away when we switched to chairs. I have a big dining room and plan to chalk paint the pew, have a new seating pad made for it, then decorate it with an array of pillow and place it in front of my three dining room windows. After watching your videos, I feel confidant to begin!! Thanks!

    Annie-I like the idea to make such colours for furnitures. In this days many young people throw the old furnitures away, but this is a beautiful way to make them looking much better than before and this old furnitures are made of wood and from good quality.I painted my kitchen in a white colour, the furnitures on the corridor in Louis-Blue and the living-room in Cream. It looks so good-and I tell other people that they can do that with their old furnitures too.Thank you for showing it to us...The best idea to save good old furnitures.

    I have a very large Chester drawer set ... there is edging only top and bottom of the piece. I did not use a color underneath my very pale slate blue , my question is can I lightly go over the blue with a black chalk paint and even a little white also? Then was thinking of distressing it after I had the three colors on. I have no handles .... was going to do a stencil maybe . This is my first piece and the largest furniture in my apt. Maybe should have started smaller piece...lol
    Thank you if you have any suggestions.

    Annie, I purchased some Lem-Lem today, including clear wax [for all over] and some black and white wax for detailing. Which of the two would you suggest? I know it's personal taste, but I wanted to get your opinion...it's for a dressing table with Queen Anne legs and some scalloped borders.

    I want to paint a dated pine dresser. It has a few divots on the doors and I would like to have a smooth and modern finish rather than the vintage look. What type of brush should I use for this please? Also, do I need to sand to get a smoother effect? Thanks

    • @AnnieSloanHome
      @AnnieSloanHome  Před 4 lety

      Hi Julia, if you would like to remove the divots to create this smooth finish I would recommend you sand them to begin with and then apply the Chalk Paint. Enjoy!

      Hi there, you could apply an oil varnish, however this may yellow over time. We would recommend using a water-base varnish if you wanted something harder wearing., or use our oil-based Wax.

      Hi Linda, we have a video on Dark Wax here: czcams.com/video/BWrEfpCEVZE/video.html
      Dark Wax is for visual impact, you would need to work with it in conjunction with Clear Wax to get the best protection.

      You should protect your paintwork with either Chalk Paint® Wax or Lacquer. It's really a matter of personal choice. Both our Chalk Paint® Wax and Lacquer will seal the paint and protect all of your beautiful paintwork. They also make it wipeable/water repellant. I personally love using wax to finish cabinets as it gives them a beautiful mellow finish. Some people prefer Lacquer and find it to be slightly more durable in a hard-working area. It's available in both matt and gloss, and it's also UV resistant which can be good for protecting your paint colour in a very bright, sunny kitchen. Consider reaching out to your Annie Sloan Stockist to learn more about each and to actually see and feel the differences. You can find your local Stockist here: www.anniesloan.com/stockists/#/.
