How wildlife trade is linked to coronavirus

  • And why the disease first appeared in China.
NOTE: As our expert Peter Li points out in the video, “The majority of the people in China do not eat wildlife animals. Those people who consume these wildlife animals are the rich and the powerful -a small minority.” This video explains how the people of China are themselves victims of the conditions that led to coronavirus. The virus is affecting many different countries and cultures, and there is never justification for xenophobia or racism.

As of early March 2020, a new coronavirus, called COVID-19, is in more than 70 countries and has killed more than 3,100 people, the vast majority in China. That's where the virus emerged back in December 2019. This isn't a new phenomenon for China; in 2003, the SARS virus also emerged there, and under similar circumstances, before spreading around the world and killing nearly 800.
Both SARS and COVID-19 are in the "coronavirus" family, and both appear to have emerged from animals in China's notorious wildlife markets. Experts had long predicted that these markets, known to be potential sources of disease, would enable another outbreak. The markets, and the wildlife trade that supports them, are the underlying problem of these pandemics; until China solves that problem, more are likely to emerge.

some species actually helped the enviroment, China is killing them making the enviroment worse and worse, making their enviroment nasty and well... just bad. Technically, its the humans fault the virus are spreading, its their fault to begin with. So yeah, I don't feel bad for the humans that make that process happend, but i felt bad for the people who have nothing to do with killing the enviroment and getting the virus and also the animals/plants.

But they infected us and instead of taking over our DNA they became part of it at some point. How fascinating and amazing is that 7% is a large amount and for all of the human race to have this means that it's been happening over Millennia that humans have been evolving and developing before we had any kind of written language in before any of the things that we know anything about. Markets like that are pretty much self regulating, if you sell rotten food and follow no hygiene then people will get sick and not buy from you so you have to close. The issue is the meat/animals they are butchering. They are not bred for eating, they are wild and by western standards unusual animals. That is why unusual and new diseases come from places like China and Africa. Western food production for all its failures does produce alot of food that is safe for us to eat and its only when we do things like feeding cows to other cows to make food cheaper that we encounter problems like mad cow disease (vcjd)

And this particular strain of coronavirus (covid19) is showing a remarkable rate of mutation. Bats>> pangolins >> Humans >> and now a positive case in a dog. Plus now we have two strains of covid19 infecting humans. And all of this happened in a matter of a few months. Covid19 is a wakeup call for humanity. We have to change our lifestyles. A message from the future, 2 years into the pandemic the world has transformed in unprecedented ways, beyond imagination, technology has been adapted and integrated into our lives like never before, inoculation drives are ongoing around the world, despite it there still has been 3 infection waves of this disease till now fueled by a different variant each time, masks are a part of us now and it feels strange to walk without them on the streets till now more than 6 million people have died, 2 years of sitting at home has made me a different person this is something the whole of humanity would agree on, my grandma passed away, it being the reason and I miss her everyday, she was the light of my life which I never wanted to go off, but life is like this, there is grief but also there is immense love for her that pours out through my tears everyday. I am 19 and life in whatever form that has happened to me till now I cherish it, as I find balance in nature's creation, in its fury, in the the feelings that I experience the joy, the sadness, the grief, the love and in my heart I carry on the thought that life in itself is meaningful and rich with the purpose of being the best we can. The World Health Organization declared a Global Health Emergency in January, regarding Covid-19. Most countries had ample time to prepare and make arrangements to reduce spread.

I agree! Their government will be forced to step in and make strict laws on the live food markets. This virus has collapsed their entire economy. If not, the United Nations need to step in. In the future, the next Virus could be as deadly as Ebola and more contagious than the common cold.

The thing is tho that you could find other places in the world that are (relatively) poor, have bad food hygiene or threats animals like this.
