ScreenFlow is one of the best screen recording software tools out there. It records in high definition. It's easy to use. And it's very affordable with a price of $129 for life-time access.
I use ScreenFlow to record the "screen parts" of my courses and CZcams videos. And I can only recommend learning a few tips and tips in order to save loads of time down the line.
You really only need to learn 20% of what ScreenFlow can do-in order to get immense value out of it.
And yes. I know there are 10-hours tutorials and courses on how to use ScreenFlow, but this isn't it. I didn't even try to compete with the super thorough, all-encompassing guides. This is a shorter, introductory format.
A course like this is what I miss when learning new software. Condensed, scripted, entertaining and only covering the basics of what I need to know to get started creating videos.
I hope you learn what you need to know about managing recorded tracks, cutting clips, making zooms, callouts, adding texts, changing canvas colors and much more.
All in this 13-minute courses that I've chosen to share with my subscribers here on CZcams-for free.

Thanks for the help. Simple and informative video.
You're welcome. Hope you learned the basics in a super fast way :)
You have restored my confidence that I can use this product. The pace and amount of content was just right for me. Thank you Rued!
I turned this 13 minute tutorial into a full hour lesson; great content!
Great to hear!
Right!!! =D
Thank you Ruid this is the best video editing totorial i have ever seen .
Thanks - warms my heart 🙏🏻
This is great. So well explained. I’ve been intimidated, but want to start.
Don't be - it's really easy and I love it till this day. Although it does crash sometimes.. (watch my latest video for a fun take on that :D )
Great video. Kindly do video on the new features of screenflow 10.
Sure, I’ll look into what’s new and add it to the full course :)
Great intro to ScreenFlow. This was very helpful.
I’m glad to hear that you found useful. It was originally a paid course but since it’s rather short just 13 minutes I decided to offer it for free here on CZcams 🤗
Super useful and easy to follow. Thank you!
Great, thanks!!
Way cool cos you covered exactly what I wanted to know. I particularly want an easy way to zoom in and out. You covered the basics in a speedy manner, which is all anyone needs when considering using any software or app. Thank you sooo much! I'm going to look at more of your vids now. You rock!
Thank you so much! This was very clear. I have watched alot of videos and they were all over the place where it made it challenging to even start to figure out how to begin.
This warms my heart. Thanks!
Thank you so much, Rued. This is a great tutorial. I love the pace and clarity, and the entire format. Normally, after watching for a minute or two, I set instructive videos to 2 x playback speed, but with yours I didn't need to.
Haha, yeah I do the same, so I made this a little higher paced and intensive than most other tutorials. Thanks for the feedback 🤗
@@RuedRiisCom yeah this is a useless program now days, I cant see my pip aka talking head camera while recording, I had to re record myself again and again, little things like a sugar, hair not in place, someone walking behind me in the office, staring at a photo of a hot girl when the screen rolled, you know what I mean.
Thank you! This helped me alot! :)
Glad to hear that :)
awesome , thanks mate ..
Great video, thank you for putting this together. Very helpful as I am just getting started with ScreenFlow. You mention getting a higher quality mic. I'd also recommend a pop filter for that mic so the plosives don't get in the way of an otherwise good voice recording. Pop filters are cheap and very effective, and bring a level of professionalism to any audio recording.
True, I use one too - great tip!
This content deserves MUCH more attention
I couldn't agree more 😄
you are really good at this...thanks!
Thank you! What do you use ScreenFlow for?
Super useful and so freindly. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent, simple, colourful and informative
Thanks!
Loved this tutorial. Thank you very much! You are a really great teacher!
Thanks, Brian-your comment started off my day on a positive note :)
Greatvideo, very informative
Thank you :)
clear concise and great! Thank you my friend :-)
My pleasure, my friend.
Clear and straightforward! Exactly what I was looking for. Keep the great work up.
Awesome! Glad you liked it! :)
Excellent. Good teaching format. Well done.
Thanks Alan. Needs an update though 🫠
Great job!
Thanks🤗
Great thank you 😀
Thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you ! now off to make my videos
Nice and clear, THANK YOU!
Great vid, but when you make multiple clicks go slower so we don't have to rewind and watch in slow motion. Thanks.
Thanks for this type of tutorial thanks a lot.
Great tutorial thank you
Dude you are amazing! read my mind on so many parts of the screenflow video. Q: is there an option to drag and crop in between a clip? In camtasia i am used to holding command and highlighting part of the clip then hitting command delete to trim it....
Thanks. Yes, I was mind-blown when I found this function; you just place your Playhead where you want to start your cut-out, then press "i". Place the Play head where you want your cut-out to end, then press "o". Now, all you have to do to delete this part and close the gap simultaneously is to press command+backspace.
@@RuedRiisCom Nice man! Just used your io method there for the first time. I'm excited to increase screenflow skills. Want to get them to where I'm at with FCPX, until then I feel like I'm driven to export then upload to FCPX to do most of the editing, but that's such an additional step! Do you exclusively use ScreenFlow? Anyways, I feel like the amount of screencasting we both do within tutorials there could even be some synergy between our channels :)
For hiding personal documents and folders on the desktop is faster to use the option for that in ScreenFlow menu bar (Hide desktop icons)
I didn’t know that was an option. I have to go check that out myself - very cool if this is an inbuilt feature!
@@RuedRiisCom yes, super useful. I’m considering other options but ScreenFlow is perfect for screen recordings.
THANKS. Still unsure how to add media - for example when I add an image I want to show over the video, it is not showing
It just needs to be "over" the rest of your video clips - meaning at the very top of your timeline. Everything that's below is "behind" other stuff. That's probably why.
@@RuedRiisCom thanks! I did work it out, but that sort of info is essential for a newbie!
500 Likes! Hi Rued Riis, I have question: Do you know how to add custom fonts to screenflow?
Thank you for answering, greetings Robert
can i save Tiles (customised) as well so that i can re-use later? Just like text which was customised can be saved for later reuse.
How do you adjust yourself when you are recording yourself ? Can you move your image and resize it >?
Yes, the window of me talking is just a recording like the screen recording. You can do the same things to that recording as to the screen recording. Move yourself around, resize yourself etc. Just click the clip and drag in the corners, move it elsewhere etc. If you want to make a smooth move, like a path from one place to another, add a Video action and place the window where you want it to go.
Can I see myself and my face while recording a presentation?
Sure you can see yourself while recording.
Hello! Thank you for your tutorial, was really helpful. I have a question though... If I want to record a .pptx class for my students without losing the animations, how do you think is the best way to do it? Recording the hole screen and then cut it out? Zoom in it? Thnak you!
Present in full screen. Record the whole show.
Is there's away to Change Duration using multiple png sequence clips. I have like about 900 PNG Clips need to change from 10 Sec to 1Sec.
Perfect!!!!
i recoreded video with audio from audio driver. It's worked but when I export it, the video and screenflow file lost sound. Do you know how to fix it?
Hi Rued! Great tutorial. I have a quick question if you don't mind. I want to add a square around a piece of text but instead of the square appearing suddenly I want it to 'draw' the box around the paragraph. Is this possible in Screenflow? Cheers!
You can apply a Wipe effect to each line in the square, so yes. Although you can't show a hand that actually draws it, but that's probably also not what you want.
Hello, I really enjoy your videos, also may I ask you a question?
I really need audio advice because I'm having trouble with my audio on screen flow. I plugged in my Yeti, set it up on the interface but I can't hear any of the audio on-screen flow! I looked at a few CZcams videos, but they didn't help. It's nerve-racking. . Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Have you changed your recording settings to pull input sound from your Yeti? Top right corner, click the ScreenFlow icon, configure recording, then select your input.
@@RuedRiisCom Thank you very much for your response. I attempted, but it is still not working
It would have been nice when you showed how to do something if you had played it back so we could actually see what you did. Using terms we may not know the meaning of and moving on is not helpful.
I'm sorry about that, Bruce. I tried to make a valuable tutorial for you to watch for free, but if I failed, I recommend checking out ScreenFlow's own tutorials - or related videos here on CZcams 🤗
Can you tell please how to do effect that you use at 3:13?
It's just an Enter Effect added to a Text - inside ScreenFlow. And the highlighting is done using Callouts.
Great tutorial :)
Thanks man!
When I edit videos, it is constantly showing me the buffering circle that spins, I have tried clearing the cache, but it doesn't look like you have that problem at all. Sometimes I wait longer than I am allowed to even move the curser, it feels like it is frozen all the time. I am working on an updated version of Screenflow. Does anyone have any experience on how to fix this?
The buffer often works hard when you are zoomed way out, because it loads all the small thumbnails/images of each track. I zoom to a level I want to work at, let it buffer, then start the work. Hope this helps 🤗
Rued
only 15K
you deserve 15M
Thank you 🙏🏻 trying to get there 🤗

I like ScreenFlow but $125 !!!!!!!! ouch! is expensive!
You shouldn’t buy any software if you don’t think it pays for itself. ScreenFlow has probably paid for itself 100x in my case, and then the 125 USD is a quite fair ask 🤗
I watched it four times. This is one of the worst tutorials ever. I called to get tech-support on how to use it and he told me that I would have to pay $250 for them to teach me how to use a $130 Software. I got a refund.
I see you're not the only one who had trouble with this. It would have helped to know the terminology first, and actually see a demo of the changes he made. Like wtf is a "callout"? No explanation
