I was born in New Orleans and started listening to Fats Domino songs on the radio in 1953. He had a dozen R&B hits before he went national in 1955. I would see him drive by the playground on his way home from the studio in his Pink and Blue Cadillac.

I love Fats Domino & there should be a big budget Hollywood film made about Mr. Domino’s life. He deserves all the recognition for being the Father of Rock and Roll. Amazing and incredibly humble superstar. We miss you Fats Domino.

I grew up 2 and a half blocks from Mr. Fats's home and one day in the late 80s me and my identical twin brother were out selling school candy for our elementary school and we decided to stop at his home on a weekend. We had heard that Mr. Fats no longer stayed at the big house on the corner but he now lived at the double shotgun home right next door with the large Star on top. Parked out front was all of his expensive cars especially his long Cadillacs in candy apple red and gold. So we knocked on the door and surprisingly this big ole guy with a huge wide beautiful smile with no shirt on and pants with gold chains around his neck and gold and diamond rings on opened the door and instantly we recognized Mr.Fat the legend as the same man our parents had spoken to us about and we had also seen in our local Popeye chicken commercials. Mr.Fat looked at us he stared back and forth and he seemed to be tickled by the fact that he met two identical twin boys. Well not only did he buy some candy from us but he gave us both $5.00 each for only 2 candy bars! We thanked him profusely then walked down the few steps out and moved onto another house. Honestly, we couldn't grasp the meaning and importance of meeting such a local legend in our very own community but something about that meeting left me inspired and very proud to be from the same lower ninth ward as Mr.Fat Domino.

I think if I'm not mistaken, Fats Domino was the only rock and roller who started in the 40's that was still making music in the 60's. I gotta agree with Elvis, Fats was the real king.

Blueberry Hill: my first favorite off the radio, a tune un-influenced by family preferences.

I would be so interested in finding out if his kids entered the music business in any capacity 🥰
