I support and applaud your efforts @GreenpeaceUK, however this inspirational song is clearly aimed at a generation of people who:
a) have contributed less to the Earth's problems than older people, and
b) are already much more motivated than them to act to preserve our planet.
As a member of the aforementioned older generation I can say that well written music still affects us deeply, however this song in its current form is unlikely to inspire us to do anything other than hit the "next" button as quickly as possible.
This is written not as a dismissal of your work but as exhortation to target any future musical/social media projects at us, the principal culprits, a little more precisely 💌

This is so well done and needs to be seen everywhere. But at the same time, how did I go from 30 years ago being amongst the young campaigners to now being in the age bracket of the gorging gluttons who are blamed for the mess. Deeply depressing that we weren't able to stop this shit at the time.

Most media about the climate change comes down to "change your ways or things could go bad!"
This captures that existential dread and powerlessness of the situation. I can switch to oat milk and take a bike to work, but the politician and the oil man, to who my money always ends up going, are blowing chunks out of the planet on the daily.
Recently joined Greenpeace...and I thank you for your drive and optimism.

Loving this video - subtle yet brutal in conveying the West's overconsumption whilst the people in the global South are working under extreme conditions (in the kitchen) to service our insatiable needs. How do we get the rich and privileged to realise that we cannot continue to party on whilst the house is burning down and flooding?
Incredible! As a singer songwriter writing constantly about climate change and the future I think this is pure genius....we need more of these!!! This should be seen in cinemas and on commercial breaks on tv.

We experience a societal thermal lag, akin to the climate; the key difference is that the societal fabric, in its ontology, is more swift to adapt to changes or to mutate entirely. Hunter-gatherers, who adopted seasonal hierarchies, can offer us substantial lessons.

This is a deceptive distraction. The majority will not "commit their entirety". I earnestly hope that those who pledge "investing everything" are prepared for vehement resistance. Idealism holds importance, but it borders on a totalitarian utopia when devoid of realism.

Thinking about what’s happening with climate change makes me want to cry everyday. I predicted that the world will end in about 50 years 30 years ago and I hope I’m wrong. Btw, this is from a 62 year old vegan who cares about the planet, enough that I change what I can. Go Vegan!

Young people already blame the older generation for this mess. 99% of this film just shows the older generation and only at the very end is it made clear that they represent oil companies. Greenpeace (52 yrs of campaigning) needs to broaden its tactics to be more relevant in getting more people to become engaged in becoming active in campaigning for a better future. This video is aimed at a wider demographic rather than just appealing to its original members. It's a stated aim of the new co-executive directors to grow the organisation. You obviously don't like it but looking at the overwhelming supporting comments you seem to be out of step with how people view this campaign method.

A new cohort of socially estranged rebels with fire in their bellies? Or the same middle class supporters who might up their armchair supporting donations. The people leaving such positive comments are the exact people that you would expect to leave positive comments in this forum space. No more, no less. That is the Internet and the Shouting in a bucket blues.
1) This video will not convince anyone to think and act who has not already realised the need to. Working class kids will not be enthused by an extremely middle of the road song set to rich people dancing with whom they have no association. The video is far too middle class oriented. It may help fundraising, but the insipid song and video actually mask the message and most will not make it through to the end.
2) Perhaps Led By Donkeys would have been a better partner for this production?

It's clearly a fundraising video that plays on the angst of their middle class armchair donors. It won't put fire in any young rebels' guts. They'll have turned off long before the end message. It's a 'Miss' for me.
I didn't like it at all. All the minutes spent showing people drinking and partying could have shown whats really going on with perhaps snippets of people enoying themselves.

@greenpeaceuk and Greenpeace international, you should re-launch this film during COP28. I am dismayed that here on CZcams you only have 120 comments. It should be at least 120k comments! I have worked at COP 26 & 27 and a lot of what goes on behind the scenes is like this film and I even at COP with all the social events, performances, cocktail parties and fringe events put on by the giant corporations from hedge funds to cryptos it felt like a party on the Titanic.
