What Rich American Men Did For Fun In The Early 1900s

  • Rocker Pop Star Thomas Dolby is a friend of mine. He is one of the most creative guys I have ever known. He certainly didn't need to be a novelist but he got bugged by this story and thought he would take a crack at writing a novel. He has done a great job.
His debut novel--a historical thriller called ‘Prevailing Wind.’ is set in 1913, and it is the story of two penniless Maine lobstermen who try out to become members of the crew of an America’s Cup racing yacht owned by millionaires - the richest American men - at the wealthy New York Yacht Club.
Thomas was fascinated by the historical background of that pre-WW1 era, and he explains in this interview with me, why he chose it for his new book. You can order it from Amazon. “Prevailing Wind”
    Thank you Thomas.

A time in history whereabout talkin and writin not often are. Never end a phrase with a preposition. That is why it is a PRE position.
I want to know your thinkin process. "This is a pre-position. If I put it at the end of the sentence, it will still be pre- the next sentence" might have been your thinkin.
When you thought about the word "about" -- vis-a-vis the prefixture "pre" -- what was the sequence of your thoughts? Or DID you think?
Maybe you just synthesized a sentence from sounds that you heard spoken by others, rather than to do your own thinkin? Please give, to me, resolution to my questions, thank you.

I find it amusing that it's only the looks of the world that truly change, not the people. We just put on different skins, but we remain who we are at the core. This video documentary is the proof of that. Nothing much has change between super rich and super poor. It's just perceived differently, same problems in the world, just done in a different way.

Humorous abuse of a verb as a noun, without first convertin it to a gerund, used to be humorous. The newer generations have failed to have been taught that it is not a legitimate formation, hence it is no longer seen as an exception that makes it to be humorous.
    Examples:
    Have a go(in)
    A good read(in)
    A photographic shoot(in).
So long as it is understood that it is a humorous deliberate abuse, oK. But if it be used as though it were legitimate, then that is reprehensible, therefore, until proper education and racial boundaries be re-established, we regard it as subversive and inimical.
