There is something almost Arthurian about this love story. A wounded knight sets off on a journey to rescue a princess he has never met from the clutches of a dragon. He ventures in to the lair of the beast and gives his life for the woman who never even knew he existed.
Miller had nothing, he was a corrupt and deeply disillusioned cop but he found his holy grail in Julie. A very tragic, beautiful, romantic and above all unique tale.

What makes this scene for me is the music. Shorter's done a great job overall, but the music here is just on another level and came out of nowhere to give you that huge emotional gut punch. It's so off course for a lot of the synth based music used in the show, even in the very scene before which is beautiful in it's own right when Miller marvel's at the beauty in the Blue Falcon. The simple use of a string quartet here amidst all that CGI and the story of a mysterious alien race/object AND a love story AND a story about certain death. Just.... man. All the feelings at once.

This was a really beautiful moment in The Expanse. Perfect lines & stunning visually. Ty Franck said in the podcast he didn’t want them to kiss but Breck Eisner said something along the lines of trust me they need to kiss (paraphrased). This song is so hauntingly beautiful. Just draws you into the sadness of the moment. Clinton Shorter is absolutely amazing!

This is where the Expense peaked- it was a big mistake not including Julie in future seasons as Miller and Julie could have been this couple who exist beyond all known human comprehension, but they are like angels trapped in the cosmic horror of the protomolecule and of the forces governing it.

Miller is a badass character. However good the show is, and Jane´s performance, which is stellar, (he is Miller for me now as Viggo Mortensen is Aragorn) book Miller is so much more awesome. The arch is perfect, but I always wonder what the story would have been like if Miller joined the crew (and Earth didn't get destroyed by Eros, ofcourse).
