Hello,
my name is Paolo and I am writing to you from Italy.
I thank you because you show me the deep face of the United States of America, not Hollywood but beautiful people, real, who with hard work live the dream that they themselves build, day by day.
Best wishes to you and your husband Grant.
Paolo, Desenzano del Garda Lake Italy.
So refreshing with no cursing, vulgarity or disrespecting authority and parents who care and do their job. Nice channel
I never use my angle grinder without a full face shield these days. When a disc shatters, it's not very fun. Or when you have a wire brush on and it's shooting little metal bristles at your face.
This advice cannot be understated. Full face mask and keep the guard on it. Also remember to approach the cut from the correct side of the wheel.
After seeing what *can* happen, most people never risk it again. You can do this thousands of times with no incidents but it only takes one time to make a believer of you.
Being an ed doc I qgree 100%
30 years is a pipe fitter and welder I can give you an Amen to that🤣🤣🤣
A 50/50 mix of Acetone and Synthetic automatic transmission fluid will be the best rust penetrant you will ever use. Also always use Anti-Seize on all your bolts when re-assembling anything you plan on servicing later. Enjoying the content!
I've seen "pivots" but never close up. I'm an industrial mechanic/electrician so I enjoy watching you work on equipment Laura! Not many of you left in America. Great Job!
Congratulations, Grant and Laura on your purchase! Pretty exciting.
these two are the best, operating an angle grinder in shorts... original.... Am I the only who thinks Laura, her dad and Grant are the best at what they do....
One thing to keep in mind, before starting work on parts exposed to the elements like that, use a small wire brush to clean the bolts and nut threads and douse with some penetrating oil. Give it a few minutes to soak in and most will come off easier. But there will always be the "one."
Ha guys just thought I stop by saying hello
Loria you are a gorgeous young woman you both are Glenn
All the better if you know the night before. Ride out on the 4 wheeler and douse everything with PB Blaster.
Well done Laura, never be ashamed to ask for help, those who don't usually end up hurt. Congratulations on Grant and Laura Wilson starting to acquire their own farm equipment, you have to start somewhere and it doesn't have to be a big tractor or combine. Looking forward to seeing more of your farming life, as much as you can safely share. Laura Farms was my first, and has led me to several others. To me you will always be at the top of my list, take cafe, be safe and farm on.
I'm a new subscribers but I've worked on a farm for most of my working years and we had a pivot system and they do have to have a lot of work to keep them going. Enjoyed it stay safe out there 👍🤞🤠🍑
I love it when Dad shows up to help. There's lots of highlights in these videos, but that's always one for me.
Suggestion: Discuss w/Grant & your Dad the long term advantages of: #1 - Put a 'Never-Seize' product on threads every time you have to put to on parts like splines, mating surfaces, bolts & studs, etc. This includes anything new you might have to ever service. Long term experience is a quantum help in the future. #2 - Consider adding a quality Penetrant to your 'GO' kit. WD-40 is vegetable based & is good, but better overall results like having fewer broken Bolts & Studs if you're first using a Penetrant on visibly corroded screws, nuts, etc. Thanks for the Nebraska Farmer's Metal Head Music!
Not in any way trying to be a smart a** but as soon as I read this she was using wd40..... all great suggestions though !
Im ex marine and groundscare, Grease everything, everytime if its outdoors. Denso tapes where its at😎!!WD’s good stuff, if you can come back tomorrow. Lube the shafts and the bolt shanks, let the nuts rust on n snap/replace the bolts, quick n easy.
You read my mind! I always paint everything with no seize because I know that I will probably be working on it again and why not make it easier?
The only thing WD 40 IS good for is cleaning your hands.
@@trentjohnson7246 (you probably already know this) WD 40 means "Water Displacer, attempt #40". It was designed to be a water displacing chemical created for the military back in WW2 to dry out the engine ignition systems on jeeps, tanks, etc. It was never designed as a lubricant in fact it washes away oil. It is a naptha and mineral spirits based solvent. It is good to keep steel and iron from corroding. I use it to spray on firearms and let dry (don't wipe off afterwards) for long term storage. It works almost as good as cosmolene. It's also good for removing tar and asphalt from vehicle fenders/paint.
Go Grant, everything starts slow, but I see that motivation, you'll make it.
Wow! Imagine a world where all women, and man for that matter were as capable. You two are ahead of the game.
It's never a mistake to ask for help, you did a good job well done 👍
Never a cop-out to ask for help!! You did the right thing Laura! Always better to ask if you're not 100% certain.
A 5 gallon bucket makes a great tool carrier and seconds as a catch all for fluids and nuts and bolts. Not to mention it can be used as a stool when the job starts to beat you down and you need a place to sit.
Yes it does Brother
All pumped up fixing the Pivot's cracked knuckles. Dad and daughter find it was a grind and two man job that saved the day
Congratulations Grant. Real farming out here he says! Nice upgrade. 🙂
Congratulations on the Machinery purchases I hope they're in very good condition! Laura because you were frustrated you were having a tough time conveying what you were thinking but we already knew what you were trying to say. Count to 10 slowly taking deep breaths, surprising how much it helps.
We do love farming. Ranching not too bad either. Did notice even in fast-forward after a day of servicing Tibbetts okay voice-to-text and autocorrect you can put down Tibbetts but I said pivots there's no need to go to the gym and pump iron!
Beautiful woman. You always seem to have such a positive attitude, no matter what life throws at you, and you possess something that is rare among a lot of "younger people" these days.. you aren't afraid to get at it and get dirty. Stay safe and keep playin in the dirt !!
always carry some overalls with ya so when you need some extra coverage you got it!!!!
So adorable, so strong and capable
You've shown us that patience and common sense are valuable parts of farming...thanks!!
Pivot Irrigation Problems......... BUMMER DUDE !!!!
Great video Grant good luck with your new planter and tanks
a simple 30 min job on my 7.3 powerstroke sometimes can take half a day.. I know the feeling.. Awesome Video
Gooooooood Morrrrrrrrrrning! Yes, we love farming, and we all love watching you solve problems, turning wrenches, and driving tractors. Looking forward to watching Grant pick up his new units.
Yes I agree with everything Dennis fox says below, even using a angle grinder that grinds off little pieces of hot metal but it's not really super hot and even the way you're dressed you could angle yourself and or the grinder so it really doesn't hit your legs. Thank you for the farming videos from Illinois reminds me of a lot.
Thank Grant for the Big Iron auction - very interesting.
Congrats Grant on you new planter!
Interesting issues with the pivot.
Thanks for bringing us along.
Way to stick with it even though it got frustrating quickly. You are doing an amazing job! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. 😎
Nice planter , heard about it on live last night and good job Laura , can’t wait to see new ATV tires sense that is what I’m all about
Congrats on the planter and tank purchase! Laura, you know all about Murphy's law now! I will tell you more about that when I meet you all here in February! If anything can go wrong, then it will! My rule is "maximum difficulty and frustration" with almost everything anymore. Yes, never run a grinder or a welder while dressed in shorts or short sleeves. Glad that you at least had some eye protection on there girl! Love those smiles and videos. I will be thinking of you guys while at the state fair today (Ky state fair here is all about agriculture as well as being a festival).
You are by far the prettiest farmer I have ever seen!
I am always happy when I see a new video drop. 👍🌹
I would never have guessed that it's worthwhile to have two very expensive pieces of equipment if they only get used once a year inside a window of a few weeks. But this channel teaches a lot. Please do share more info about how you strategize on which equipment will be worth the investment!
Really proud of these young adults. Not an easy job. Keep it up!🌽🚜🧑🌾
I'm a 40 year old male and I still call my Dad to help all the time.. AND Safety first. Good to see you realized you did not have the right protective clothing on to do that job with the angle grinder.
I love your content and I'm learning alot from you, Please put the guard back on the grinder I know it's annoying but my mate says different the blade broke and nearly and I mean nearly cut the veins in he's wrist and at the time he was by him self I can not stress the importance of those annoying guards after knowing and hearing what happened to my mate
nice purchase grant, exciting.
i love your dads way of thinking
Wow! Really cool video Laura!
Good luck fixing your pivot Laura
Never too old or wise to ask dad for help. 😉 You got er done! That's awesome that you found that equipment close Grant. 👍 Bummer when you have a big shipping charge dude.
If Emma Chamberlain had a business degree and worked on a farm she might be half as fun to watch as Laura. … maybe.
Stay Gold. Much respect for the hard work and positive attitude.
Good job done Laura! Always ask the Boss(Dad) for advice or help! Good move!
Don’t be afraid of the angle grinder practice in the shop great tool to use in the field love the videos
Working on pivots…BUMMER DUDE!
😀
When dealing with any bolts or nuts that are exposed to weather a little heat never hurts. Carry a little propane torch along with the penetrating oil.
Yes always proper PPE (face shield, gloves, pants, ear plugs) and please get a guard on the grinder.
Don't let any one complain about you being under dressed love it haha
A great video Laura farms and girl you rock.
But Laura ! You look good doing the job, whether completed or not!!! Lol ! American Farmers, can fix anything with almost nothing and have it done yesterday ! You ROCK ,
Vocês tem os melhores equipamentos simplesmente fascinante.
Agricultura no Brasil vai na força dos brasileiros.
Cool pivot! We have a lot of those around where I live.
Your dad is AWESOME 👏🏻 😁😁
Can I suggest finding the safety guard for that angle grinder that mounts on the spindle?
Yes angle grinders can kill you get a guard ASAP.
And screw the handle to the tool for safe handling. Trust me, I know from experience!.
@@ttarp929 WHS. The side handle is there for a reason, & you may find yourself picking up several fingers & a thumb from the floor/dirt under where you are working as you tell yourself 'Oh _that's_ why they said always use the side handle'.
I've seen some gruesome looking facial & eye injuries caused by disintegrating cutting or grinding disks, & bits of whatever somebody was cutting or grinding being flung back in the operator's face...
@@ttarp929 WHS. A slipping hand will be minus a couple of fingers & a thumb before you can say 'should have screwed the side handle back on'.
Re the guard, just do a Google Image Search for 'angle grinder accidents' if you need motivation. Also, wear proper eyepro at least - I don't think a pair of sunnies will do anything to protect you,. probably the opposite!
The guard annoys people because it can get in the way, but it will literally save your life if it is in the right place when a disk fails...
No use giving safety advice they have already said they ignore safety advice and they know better how to do things than people who have witnessed or have been hurt
Put a guard on that angle grinder! And yes you should be covered up when using an angle grinder or any grinder for that matter. Also in the future always carry anti-seize with you and use that on all threads, and mating surface that will rust/corrode together.
Amen on gaurd, buy the right discs, learn at a bench.
Love.what you,and grant are doing. Safety glasses, young lady.
Better still, a full face shield / visor. Safety glasses/goggles will protect your eyes, but they provide no protection to your face being ripped open by a disc when it explodes. Also, you need to check the date on every disc before you use it - in the UK and probably Europe and I hope in the USA, they have an expiry date marked on them, after which they should not be used. I was shocked when a flexible backing disc (for a sanding disc) exploded when I was using it, and bits of hardened rubber flew everwhere.
@@ianm452 I agree.
This is my favorite video so far.
Grant, Congrats on your winning auction... enjoy running your own planter next season. You might even be able to rent it to your Dad. :)
Replacing rusted knuckles is a pain, hard, and take practice....GOOD JOB!!
Your Dad is just to cool doing burnouts in shop and driveway!!!🤣😂🤣😂
Love what you all do! Love the videos! Keep that content coming!!
Very nice video of you doing repair work
Laura is too cute. Beauty and brains!
I'm so glad that you stepped back and let your dad do the angle grinder. Yes, you were improperly dressed, but more importantly, you were seriously missing the proper safety gear. Proper, ANSI safety glasses are a must! Those sunglasses don't stand a chance against flying pieces! Also, the guard was missing off the grinder!
What a beautiful smile and attitude.
It’s best to walk away when frustrated, calm down things usually go better later..👍👌😉😊
You guys should look into a portable torch set that would be perfect for these types of jobs!
Smart move, never be afraid to ask for help. I am still learning that unfortunately.
That is the way farming goes most of the time.😁
Laura that was a total cop out how ur dad asked u for ur help! LOL Kool video 👍👍🙏🙏
Kudos to you for doing your best and trying before calling for help, keep up the great videos
Need to carry a jump suit with you to put on for just that type of work !
Good luck Grant
Great video Laura
Interesting home-made socket storage.
Laura have great Thanksgiving
Sorry Laura loved this one the harder jobs are the more real you seem. :0 Good job on the fix. Grant's part to me was more went with the flow. Don't mean to be harsh. Still watching these. Great job on editing.
I do the exact same thing anytime I am ready to get new tires for my car or equipment.
We live very near Hordville, NE on those tanks! So cool to see you guys farming. What part of NE are you in?
And that's what's known as The daily grind!!!
Came thru Colorado, here comes your rain.
You should have a look for the guard and side handle of the angle grinder, makes the tool a whole less scary, and a lot safer!
While they are helpful they reduce usability in tight areas, I do like the handle for heavy work though.
Two working together better than one my Johnny always said.
took me a while to find a video where Laura is yelling at the mice xD its just to funny and cute ^^ kinda like an adorable version of the "HEY BEAR" xD
wish there was a Laura vs Mice compilation :)
Work work work.... good work Laura
Lmao this is the best video yet...
remember we’re learning together 👍🏻 lol.
amazing story
The live stream last night was amazing
Bummer dude...LOL
Laura never be afraid to ask for help with a task it is not a sign of weakness but a sign of strength the only thing that is important is that you are willing to learn how to do it the right way and the safe way remember SAFTY IS NO ACCIDENT doing a task safely is the most important thing
Calling the mouse out made my day i had to repeat video
Those tires are perfect for the river.
Tools are very intuitive - they just know. My dad used to say, " you have to be smarter than the tool you're using."
Brave girl. Love her.
Another great video, Laura. I hope you don't mind me saying, when your dad is burning rubber outside at the duration of 1:22 he should wear a mask while he's doing that because it's not going to do his lungs any good at all with him breathing in that dust. Mostly if he does that often. He'll damage his lungs breathing all that dust in. I hope to see another video of yours very soon.
Also the rpm limit for specific blades on Grinders is very important.
I wish when I was your age that I could move on to another project when I became frustrated with the current project.
