  • Cinnamon rolls, what can I say, it's just one of those sweet things that you can't resist especially when you're at a mall because...there's always a Cinnabon at one of those shopping centers.
But instead of buying it with the price of $5.79 ( $6.34 after tax ) why not make it yourself at home with only $0.89 which is the fraction of the cost? The ingredients are easy to find and all you need is some time and you can have one of the best cinnamon rolls you'll ever have.
In this video we are going to put the homemade Cinnabon cinnamon roll up against Cinnabon and find out which one tastes better, and to make it more interesting we're also throwing in the Pillsbury Grands! Cinnamon roll made by Cinnabon's cinnamon just to see which one is the best and has the best value. Get your coffee ready, there's going to be a ton of cinnamon rolls.

Cinnabon also has Allspice in their rolls. It gives an extra spicy kick to it.

That is EXCELLENT... I was in shock that Cinnabon was this expensive now.
I have not gotten one since I lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico (US) 7 years ago.
How much do you sell you cinnamon rolls for?
The reason I'm asking is this... I am getting ready to open up my Acting Studio in ABQ NM in a few months and will be furnishing the FREE Breakfast and want to make these (like) Cinnabon Cinnamon Rolls... and didn't know how to price them.
      Thank you for your help.
BTW are you any kin to the Pierce in Texas? We have family there with the last name Pierce.

lately ive been seeing a tip to add heavy cream to the buns before you bake along side a topping of melted brown sugar butter. Also, to top on the decadence, im kinda inspired by a thin and thick frosting combo: a thin layer of the cream cheese frosting to coat most of the roll, then an additional thick smear of cream cheese frosting as the final topping.

Good job that you use margarine for the spread because that's the authentic way. With that in mind what do you think of using butter-flavored Crisco instead of margarine? It has an even higher melting point.

Allspice is key to add to cinnamon to get the Cinnabon flavor. Also try bread flour next time for the chewiness that you want to achieve.
Additionally, you can mimic the gooey texture by adding some heavy cream, cinnamon, brown sugar mixture and pour directly over your rolls after they achieve the final rise then bake covered.
Cinnamon rolls are a specialty in my family for generations.

@@Tish_Ann77Allspice is a very strong spice. A little goes a long way. However the cinnamon sugar mixture has no eggs or flour in it so it is safe to add to your taste. I would try a pinch at a time to start or if your feeling brave 1/8 tsp if you really enjoy its aroma and taste. ❀ Best wishes, let me know how it turns out.😊

I suspect that your texture challenge is about the cook time and temperature. Cinnabon are intentionally under-done-ish. They are pulled when they are in the 165F-190F range. May have to adjust the cook time and temp in order to accomplish both that center temp range AND a golden top.

Depends on the oven. Yeast bread in general cooks off very fast. Provide adequate room in the pan for them to grow and watch like a hawk for the 20 minute cook time. When you see golden brown remove at once. Best of luck. Either way you go.

You should create the ingredients together like for chocolate chip cookies. Start on low then increase the speed on medium high for 8-10 minutes. This prevents caramelization at the bottom of your cinnamon rolls.

maybe someone already addressed this; if so, please pardon me. But the pillsbury is less than half the volume of the other ones, so it actually costs a lot more money than the diy -- maybe 3x. idk, that greatly reduces its value to me. sure, convenience is a big factor IF you have to go out shopping for the Cinnabon; but there's UberEATS & Door Dash. for me, I can't get over the chemical, "weird shortening" flavor in the tube doughs: I'd only buy the stuff in the tubes if a kid specified it as a treat (like my nephew wanted Grands for his birthday breakfast).
all of that said, really engrossing video with a lot of interesting & useful info. THANKS!

I've watched a couple of other videos where they try to "copy" the cinnabon rolls and both videos had a 12 bun recipe,
and recommended after the second proof, before putting in the oven to pour a 1/2 cup of milk evenly over the 12 rolls.
They say that this is the "secret" ingredient. Another video recommended 1/2 cup of whole cream as the secret ingredient.
Is it worth it in this case?

what kind of yeast do you used, is it instant dry yeast or active dry yeast, the instant dry yeast is the yeast that you put in flour together with sugar and all dry ingredients and the other yeast which is active is used for lukewarm water

    • @WhatWeEatTonight
      @WhatWeEatTonight  Pƙed 2 lety +1

I use instant yeast for all my bread recipes and yes instant is the kind that you can add directly to the dries because the granules are smaller. You technically don't have to activate either instant or active dry yeast the step of mixing it in liquid is just to check if the yeast is still alive. Hope this helps!
