    Nice looking beast.
What a pleasure to share the woods with him.
I don’t think I would have let him walk.
    Much respect.

Stop with the judgemental comments. It's his hunt he can do what he wants. If he wants to watch the deer or shoot it is his decision. If he had shot then somebody would be on here complaining that he shouldn't have. Just enjoy the video. A majestic creature going about his routine. An awesome sight.

Who needs a head on a wall when you have a trophy video like that. Nice.

Lots of people questioning why the videographer didn't shoot?
If you watch animals going about their day, you learn things. Plus, they are beautiful. Yes, I hunt deer.
I don't shoot every adult deer I see. In fact, unless the freezer is empty? I will often just sit and watch them on a nice evening, even if I have a rifle and unfilled deer tags.
I usually put 2 in the freezer in November, mostly 2 or 3 year old does, good food. Tender and fat, the deer are mostly feeding on crops around here, don't have to travel much. Farmers growing alfalfa and corn think of them as big pests, our soybean field in early August looks like someone used a hedge trimmer on the field margins, trimming the edges all exactly to one deer neck length in and chewed down to a comfortable height for a deer to munch.
Last year my zone had the second largest harvest in the state. The DNR issues an either sex tag for your first license, then an "antlerless only" tag for your second in my zone. I leave tougher, older buck "hat racks", usually with gamier tasting meat from the rut for people who trophy hunt. I can't eat antlers.

Good footage of something hardly seen by many, a mature buck that has evaded a hunter his whole life, he would have been a nice buck to take but sometimes it’s not about the kill. I can also understand why many would want to take him as well, Consider yourself lucky to have seen a buck that old, best of luck out there hunting.

That was a big boy for sure. Surprised he didn't bolt earlier, as he had you pegged for a good while...just couldn't figure out what he was looking at I guess. He was likely also rattled a bit by the rut he was obviously in....women will make you stupid!

  • @boogerdog5247

Nice work, you found an aging bucks core area. He was extending or making a scrape line, when you see their belly droop, that is when they are urinating on the scrape.
I always hunted the edges of core areas and hunted one or two large dominate bucks.
Banks of the Sougahatchee, Notasulga, Lochapoca, Al. Awesome place for turkey and deer.

I'm from Alabama and hunt the Talladega National Forrest and have taken some nice bucks on cheaha mountain! Judging from the terian and the boulder type of rocks this is on cheaha mountain! Most likely in the wilderness area where no dog running goes on because there's no roads to cut the deer off! This guy here is probably hunting with his camera and forgot about his weapon! No doubt this is an old buck!! Nice video though!!
