The moment before the avalanche part happened in the movie, in real life it didnt happen, I read they wanted to represent a "peaceful moment" but in the real life the avalanche was in night (no in the middle of the day) and they were SLEEPING, it is so crazy because imagine you were sleeping and then get buried with snow not knowing what is going on.
Another fact was the respect for the women, They didnt eat the bodies of Nando´s sister and mom and liliana neither. even they made a special place for liliana so she could go to her "own bathroom".
And the big mountain they climbed is called "Mount Seler" Seler parrado was the father of nando and no one before climbed or even was in this mountain before. so Nando called the mountain as his father because he was the motivation to come back, nando said he always was thinking to return home because his father lost his wife and daughter and he couldnt loose a son, so he wanted to come back to say "I am still alive"
This movie is really really close about what really happened, it is very accurate. each actor spent time with each survivor or the family of the non survivor person in the plane. to understand and learn how the feel what were thinking in this moment when "X" part of the story was happening. some of the survivors said the first time they watched the movie they could "smell" the accident the fuselage. And also the actors really lost weight some of them lost around 20 kgs.
Finally in the movie you can see some real survivors for example the old man who opened the door to nando parrado and his family, this mas is nando himself. one of the doctors in the end of the movie is the real Roberto Canessa and the man who said "carlitos miguel paez my son" is the real survivor Carlitos paez Rodriguez acting in the movie as his father carlos paez vilaro. but also there were others survivors like moncho sabella, gustavo zerbino, daniel fernandez or coche inciarte.
This movie is beautiful and really deserves the Oscar because it was made with a lot of love and respect.

Wow, i can't even imagine how terrifying that is... Thank you for sharing that, i've seen a few people mention some of the survivors were featured in the movie and i love that for them.
The respect for women is such a beautiful thing, i can imagine people being in such a situation and their morals and values going out the window but these guys are an inspiration.
Let's hope they win the Oscar because this movie was done so beautifully, it would be well deserved.

They did consume the bodies of Graziela de Mariani and Esther de Nicola but they both died at the beginning of the ordeal.

One of you said that the part in the movie when the father says "Carlitos Páez, my son"... That is the actual survivor Carlitos Paez portraying his father, Carlos Páez Vilaró, a famous painter in Uruguay and Argentina, who searched for his son the 72 days.

Seen some people mention this in the comments as well as mentioning other survivors were featured in the movie.
What a nice touch from J.A. Bayona.

When you talk about giving up… Some of the survivors actually gave up. It’s not made explicit in the movie, even if there’s some hints in the backround due to the actors doing a lot of research about the survivors.
Most famously, Roberto “Bobby” François became extremely depressed. He had to be taken care of by the rest of the group, despite not being one of the most hurt, because he didn’t have the drive to survive himself.

Yes, right at the end when you see all the guys waiting for rescue, you see that he's sitting on the other side of the plane away from the others.

Numa is the protagonist, because the dead are the protagonists and none of them would have survived if it had not been for them and they are heroes because they consented to give your body to live through them as we say in Mass that Jesus did but he did not do it in such a literal way and yet they looked at them as if they were the dead.or monsters when it's such a beautiful story. Bayonne has done justice to the dead that the survivors recognize as such

Thank you so much, so happy to hear you enjoyed the review ❤️ That's amazing that you were able to watch it with some of the survivors. Really glad the movie did their story so much justice. The book will need to be added to the list and yes, it definitely needs to be re-watched.

You should look up the survivors... pretty much all of them ended up doing pretty well in life afterwards. I wonder, if compared to what they went through, life was a piece of cake.

They followed Numa to honour him as in reality he was a very important part of the group and also to give a voice to the dead as this ends with the survivors. So many of them were so close to surviving and didn't make it in the end. It's an accurate film stll respecting the living and the dead as 14 out of 16 survivors and the rest of the families are alive still. Fyi they didn't eat all the dead, 13 bodies were left untouched. The man who announced the names in the end is the actual survivor Carlitos playing his dad, the real Nando and Roberto have also cameos in the film.

A lot of the survivors said that they had to live because of their moms. They didn’t want their moms lost a child. So, they had to eat their dead friends. If they didn’t eat them, they would be dead a few days after the accident. There would be no survivors.
