Ginny might have been a better character in the books, but their relationship isn't much better to be honest, I barely see anything when they actually do get together. And maybe its just me, but I hated how Ginny got jealous of Cho when she planned on taking Harry to Ravenclaw HQ. Like, there are more important things and there is no way in hell Harry would think of Cho in the middle of danger. So much for trust...

      @posiemae525 Před 3 lety +6

      @@Sarah-ml4fv Yeah, I mean obviously Ginny isn’t as big a character as Harry, Ron or Hermione but she is still important. I love (book) Ginny. As a kid she is very timid and shy. And has a massive crush on Harry. As she get older she becomes much more confident and outspoken. She is extremely pretty and very popular but never lets it get to her head. Ginny is like Harry in that way, she is very popular and could easily feel very superior. But Ginny never seems to care about popularity much, and hangs out with people who are way less popular and cool than her, like Luna or Neville, if she wants. Just like Harry. Of course Ginny has flaws too, but she’s very caring, kind and compassionate, she always stands up for people who need it, she strongly cares about her friends and family, and she is very brave. Ginny doesn’t give up easily on anything, can be very tough (in a good way) and can brush a lot of things off easily and take things with him humor. (Like her brothers picking on her and stuff, she often can just brush it off and keep smiling). She is very confident, daring and can have a lot of attitude. She is very funny, clever is also a very talented at quidditch. Ginny “proves herself” as more of a “member” or “equal” to “Harry’s group”, in the 5th book in my opinion, that’s when she becomes more “on their level” and “more their age”. She spends a bit more time with the group and for the first time starts to occasionally spend one on one time with Harry (just as friends). Not like they plan it, but like when Ginny brings him a present from her mum in the library and then she stays and talks with him for a while by herself, just joking around together and being friends with Harry. She would never have done that a year before. Ginny is the one who talks to Harry about being possessed and convinces him that he isn’t and Ginny obviously also is one of the 6 students who go to the department of ministries. Obviously she becomes even more “important” in the 6th and 7th book. But in general I just love Ginny and think she’s definitely an important character. Both in all the ways she herself is important to the story and all the things she does, but also in the way she changes Harry and how she’s really important for Harry’s character development when he’s 16/17. But they definitely did a terrible job portraying her in the movies.

It combines classic elements of the telenovela (struggling poor single mother meets rich-but-kindhearted romantic interest) with Hollywood glamour. I liked the chemistry between the characters, as Lopez shows to perfection the ackwardness of unwillingly having to impersonate an upper class lady, while she is working class herself. That she is expected to "serve" to these people is shown through all the interactions with Natasha Richardson's character. Why wouldn't she feel ackward while being treated as an equal by one of the customers (Fiennes), who enjoys the privilege of an environment of explotation and alienation? Kristen Stewart is a truly terrible actress incapable of emoting. It was evident in all the Twilight movies as well as everything she's done since then. Add to that the fact that she and Rob Pattinson had zero chemistry together. However, Taylor Lautner did a good job as Jacob and there was indeed chemistry between him and Rob (strangely), as well as occasionally between him and Bella. As a trio, they deserve to be on this list, though I would argue not at the #1 spot.

      It's actually not that abrupt if you binge-read the books. Is it really that unrealistic for a teenage boy to suddenly have feelings for a girl? He doesn't notice her much in the early books, but in the fifth book he starts to appreciate her intelligence and bravery, in the sixth book he notices how funny and attractive she is. The progression made perfect sense. They both love Quidditch, they're the only two kids that know what it's like to be possessed by Voldemort. They both understand each other better than even Ron and Hermione because of this. Ginny's also the only one that isn't scared when Harry gets angry. They both even had the same sense of humor. They're relationship was a breath of fresh air because it consisted of honest communication rather just fights and misunderstandings and drama.

People always critique the bad dialogue in the prequels, but if you go back and rewatch the Originals, the dialogue is bad in those movies as well. I think people give the originals more slack for their bad dialogue for 2 reasons. 1. They came out in the 70s and a lot of older movies tend to have bad dialogue and 2. They are classics and loved by pretty much everyone. They are still good and so are the prequels. Bad dialogue and all.
