I was married to an Afghan for eight years and he played a lot of Indian music although I was already familiar with both Indian and Afghan music, I had a world music show on the radio for 12 years, I interviewed Ravi Shankar, But now that my DNA is going to die it makes me cry
Cool ! Ravi Shakar is kind of like an embassador of Indian music, Ragas, etc. I like Samirla Roy a lot as well, performing Ontoro Momo or Swetaswatara Upanishad from the Movie MahaBharata. I'm from Brazil and i got a CD where Ravi plays along with Egberto Gismonti, a great musician frm Brazil. Anyways, the collection of great songs of Hemant Mukherjee is far beyond this two beautul songs. Namasté.

Of course, I have read the original book "Siddhartha" by Hermann Hesse. The book is available online for free at Gutenberg (dot org). However, I must admit that the film is substantially different from Hesse's book. But in any case, even if the film were following the book 100 %, if you read the book first, you will appreciate the film a lot more. Separately, Hesse's book is also available online in the internet, as an audio recording at Archive (dot org) as a Librivox recording .

+Namalee Real The movie presented the message of the book in a nutshell. It was not a bad movie at all as you say, however, the book naturally went into the spiritual search for truth more fully. I enjoyed the movie especially the songs. Awesome! I give it a ten for that.

Siddhartha, the movie, made me want to go to India. 30+ years later I made it. The music and scenery in this movie have touched my heart beyond words.
Heavenly Voice at the age of 52 with a chain smoking background. This is a wonder the Almighty has shown us.
