2023 Honda Accord | Don't Buy the Acura TLX?

- čas přidán 27. 06. 2024
- We took a peek at the all-new 11th-generation Honda Accord at the LA Auto Show. Let's just say it's much better looking in person. The 2023 Honda Accord featured in this video is the Hybrid Touring model which has a two-motor hybrid system 2.0L Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine that makes 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. The V6 and 2.0L turbo option are no longer available.
Some of the biggest updates are the 12.3-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, a 10.2 inch digital driver instrumentation display, new exterior styling and the car grew by 3 inches.

Portland, JAMAICA in the Building!!!
😂😂Me too
The TLX looks better but to each their own
Facts
Absolutely. Admittedly, I’m biased.
I totally agree
Not that interior
tlx is ugly
Nice review, like the energy and just enough technical talk to inform consumers. Keep of the good work!
I LOVE your reviews. You and Raiti's ride explain what we need to know so thoroughly. You bring great energy in the love of cars too!
what about Ray and Zack?
So much energy and enthusiasm! Well done. I like it too. Maybe you should have mentioned the first ever deluxe Bose sound system in the Touring trim. You like to sensuously touch all the parts! That’s different. Thanks.
I like the way your comment and description with down to earth presentation of your directly hands showing on the car body as you speak.👍👍👍
Mike, Ian: terrific job. As the owner of a 2019 2.0T Touring, I was hoping for an improvement from Honda: more colors, more power, pano sun roof, whatever. Instead, we get less power, fewer gears, cheaper interior materials, and duller exterior development. I'll be keeping my 252 hp, 273 lb/ft, 10-speed, 5.5-second 0-60 Touring with a prettier interior. Yeah, I'll miss the new big infotainment screen, but I'll have a lot more fun during the drive.
That said, I love the energy, research, and fun you guys pour into your videos, Really nicely done!
That means a lot Adrian thank you!
10th gen is the sexiest accord to exist
LOL..the only thing that turns a lot of people down is the power train.
I agree with everything with the exception of the interior. This new Accords interior looks much more upscale with better materials as well.
I also have 2019 Touring. I agree with everything you said.
The 9th gen accord was the best looking, most proportionate accord ever in my opinion.
At first look, I thought this was an Avalon.
Im in the market for a vehicle and I want to love the current(2022) design of the accord. I love the front end and grille. I just feel like something is off. It looks really long to me.
10th Gen is a beast
You’ve got a great style on your reviews. Engaging, informative with a sprinkle of comedy 🏅
Finally someone that does a review on this new Accord that is emphasizing the fact that yes indeed there are many of us that are not happy about Honda's decision to not give this vehicle more power
The Hybrid has the power buddy... and better fuel economy... that's where the market is going.
@@Matthew-rk8si the new hybrid engine is significantly down on HP and Torque vs the 2.0T, for the record, I have a 2.0T
@@renemaradiaga5672 but better on fuel and plenty of horsepower... it's not a race car it's a family sedan
They have 4 different trim levels available for the new accord hybrid... 2 for non hybrid... I'm pretty sure honda knows more than those commenting... there is a reason... a good one
@Blackouttsi you got that 100% right, that is the main reason many of us bought the 2.0T, it has good pick up and handles well for a sedan that size
Keep up ur great work on car reviews bro !! Love ur reviews !!
Can't wait to see the Sport & Sport L models
With that power, I doubt there going to be a sport model or a true sport.
Great video, love it 😄👍🏼
Honestly, the new accord looks like the child of a mustang and a taurus.
😂😂😂
It looks nice no one has a problem with , the thing is if they only kept the 2.0 engine or even added little more power this car would be the best in 2023
You’re right and the back is so Kia Forte to me….
True. Not a fan of the design at all.
Exactly what I was thinking....I also see the crown Victoria in that front
I think you're the only one to review the Accord at the LA Auto Show...thank you!!!
You made so much sense. Good review
Good review 👍🏼 9:48 the reason it has a traditional shifter is because the pilot is using the 10 speed transmission that is designed with those buttons for shift input. Accord ctv
Good to know. Thanks Jean!
Idk though cause the insight and the current accord hybrid uses the button shifter
The 2.0l have a great 10 speed Trans, the 1.5l are the ones with the cvt dog water transmissions.
I’m more interested in the vehicle that’s in the background poster, the Honda Prologue. As for the Accord, I personally think the 10th gen Sport was the best looking one.
Great video lots of detail.
Thanks 👍
I think its a really beautiful and classic design. It's like if you mix the 2013 Accord with the new Civic. And personally as a 2015 Accord owner I think this would easily be my next car whenever that time comes.
I agree!
I love how you show off the features like a Model on a Daytime Game Show! 😁 I'm with you on some of the negatives though. A $40,000 Touring WITHOUT power trunk lift or Spare Tire? Luckily, as our 2020 Touring is coming off lease next June, we'll also be looking at the NEW Toyota Prius (Hybrid and Prime) to see which is a better fit for our 6'3" frame. Oh, and our 2020 Touring DOES have the transmission buttons which we hate -- the "stick" is better because you are conscience of when the car actually is in Park and not Drive when idle.
I got the 23 EX the space is unreal its a definitely big quit on the road i love mine for the price i cant complain and it definitely looks better in person
No thanks happy wit my 22 2.0 sport
I was waiting for the new Accord after seeing the first reviews last week I ran to go buy the last brand new 2022 Accord. Literally it was the last brand new 2.0t available in my country. I don't care about the interior changes. I'm not buying a 1.5 with a cvt transmission or a ridiculous hybrid also with a cvt transmission. This is 5 steps backwards. They can shove the 12 inch display.
Don’t blame you at all.
Great decision…The 2022 Accord Touring is a Masterpiece
@@senahormeku6415 Not a fan of the touring trim but it is a masterpiece. I bought the sport 2.0t. I had both of them next to each other, the sport and the touring and the sport was more to my liking. The touring looks a bit older in soul so I went for the sport trim. I missed on some tech but I just felt in love with my baby at first sight.
Just bought a used 2020 2.0t with 37k miles. Would’ve got a new one but no new ones in my area. Will be keeping it a long time lol
@@MrJc9600 I was very luck to find a brand new 2.0t. I completely understand. Not too many brand new 2.0t left at this point. You made a phenomenal decision if you ask me.
I remember when the first Accord was released, (primarily that you had to forgo a glove compartment if you wanted it air conditioned), and since then I’ve owned 3, as well as a Civic, a Passport and 2 TLs. This is unquestionably the best Accord Honda has ever made, (it’s beautiful), but I’m still probably leaning towards the new TLX, for Honda is the only manufacturer that doesn’t cross-pollinate between their base and up-line models, so while it does look incredible, the quality is superior in the Acura.
Amazing you opened with something that I can do on my Android phone.
I have a 2002 Honda Accord sedan stanard all stock not molested in mint condition. Brought it new. Never gonna sell it. One of the best model.
😢 I’m such a big fan of the accord but this year Honda dropped the ball
Facts
Right on, I was looking forward to upgrade to this new model but to me this new design is not attractive at all. Horrible decision by Honda.
@@tonyqban Speak for yourself, this looks like an audi a7
I felt the same way, the last was the best selling in part of how good it looked. This new design disregarded that completely. I’m disappointed
@@knightchild2k172 exactly! We’ll said. I really hope all of Honda design work is cleaned up by 2025. Also Honda really needs to incorporate a full electric lcd dash too!
I have the 2018 2.0 turbo. Love it. And the speed is fun to drive around in. It’s not bad on fuel economy either. Hopefully they’ll bring back a 2.0 version in future models.
The next Gen model will probably all electric, same with the Camry.
I think the hybrid trims will perform just as good, if not better than, the 2.0T for actual driving. Obviously won’t perform as good 0-60 though
The 2.0t was pretty short lived. The 2.0T was a pretty good successor to the 3.5V so it’s sad to see Honda out put a 1.5T in there. Rip to the accord.
The exterior is nice, but not something I want from honda
Holding onto my 21 2.0t Touring for a while.
A red exl 1.5t with the white interior and a tune is all I need.
I’m interested in knowing whether they conduct any sort of focus groups on these new car designs. Because this feels like a design that the average consumer would not have selected first. It’s toned down the sophistication and bold styling from the previous Accord. Bad move to remove the 2.0 as well.
its just following the new civic. this is the new body style. toned back.
The 2.0 had less than a 20% sell rate. The hybrid is extremely efficient, smooth, and has plenty of power for 99% of consumers.
@@ThirdBrainLives yeah I think a lot of people are underestimating the instant punch from the electric motor
The TLX can be had with a 2.0T or a twin-scroll turbo V6. I would take that anyday over the Accord's 1.5T or 4-cylinder hybrid.
and available SH-AWD 🤓
@@EKFiPod and a double-wishbone suspension
Honda did that on purpose because the TLX is selling like ass. And kiss the interior room goodbye
@@Striker50_ Care to back that sales statement up with some published facts?
@@Striker50_ TLX sales were hindered due to chip shortage and diversion to the newer released MDX and Integra. The demand for the TLX (especially the Type S) remains high. Before the chip shortage, the TLX was outselling the Lexus IS and Audi A4, and even beating the *combined* sales of the the Cadillac CT5, Genesis G70, and Infiniti Q50. The demand remains high, used Type S's are still selling above MSRP.
Omg I was gonna say, it looks like the Taurus ♉️ which is not a bad thing! I drive one and love it!
It looks like the clarity from behind
I was waiting and hoping that the new generation models would increase HP to upgrade but very disappointed at Honda! I'm seriously considering other makers
Me too
I doubt you will. We haven’t even had the car out for a few months. Everyone keeps saying this but half the people not liking it end up getting one once the other packages come out
I could listen to this guy talk all day
I have a 22 Black Touring Accord yea the 2.0t is nice but it aint no race car lol. I can deal with the new hybrid motor. my only gripe is the front and rear bumpers. I would definitely swap them out with aftermarkets for a different design. The Bose inside I wish i had in my 22 Touring. oh, and you look around 38-40.........lol this is my first video I'm seeing of yours.
When you were at the backseat, you mentioned that you have lots of leg room and 3 fingers headroom, it would be nice to know how tall you are....... Great vdieo !! 👍👍
5 ft 9 👍 thanks!
Honestly, it looks very similar to the Volkswagon SUV next to it and I might even say I was more curious to know what that SUV was instead of this Accord 😂😂😂
I know I am probably less than 2% but my big gripe is the fixed head restraints in the rear makes it look cheap. Also I do agree a pano-roof would be nice but it cuts down on complexity and maintenance however, as an option would be nice.
Lastly ditching the 2.0-T would streamline production but I always appreciate more power. One on of the reasons I will hang on to my 14 Honda Accord with the V6 as long as I can.
There's no other car in that range and the price point that is more smooth and powerful than the Honda Accord V6. They messed up when they decided to cease production of that engine. They lost lots of diehards.
Very niceee design….love itt💕
I’m going to have to see this in person…if it has the wide stance of the TLX then maybe it can grow on me.
The sport package is supposed to have all black accents, black wheels and a lip spoiler
I may reconsider getting another sedan down the line. Wait to go Honda!
Looks great!
Nice review! Would you do one of Toyota Crown?
We will try to get our hands on one!
@@ACCELER8TV awesome!
Wish honda would implement ambient lighting
Dammit. Was used to having $80k cars all my life. I'm now 47 and retired and with young kids, college, etc I have to scale back my car tastes. Always figured I'd lease a loaded Accord. Now I find out no V-6. My loss, no Accord for me. Hopefully there's a nice V6 sedan out there under 50k.
Thank God I will buy one for myself
Good step for Hondas but I was expecting full pano roof fog lights and 360 cameras like the sonata and few other things from previous generations
Maybe in another three years
Would of like to heard about the estimated EPA on it, rather than how small the engine is! Also, what’s the range when driving in all electric mode? Nothing about recharging option. Also, you mentioned about all the leg room, but how tall are you, 6 ft plus or 5 ft and some, it makes a difference for comparison sake since I’m 6’ 4..
It’s an autoshow, we couldn’t drive it nor do we have those figures yet. It’s a first look. Mike is 5 foot 10.
Excellent preview of the vehicle !
Finally an honest one. I love the nitpicking it makes so much sense on a daily basis when you have a car like this. I have a 13 Honda Accord Sport manual with 410,000 KM and still going with the original clutch.
Going to be honest if I upgraded going to miss the involvement of driving and performance. Oh that's okay just put it on sport mode....ya sure. ..
Anyways like you said very disappointed they got rid of the 2 L Turbo and the manual years back and of course the legendary V6. It all comes down to how this vehicle drives but I don't have high hopes since the CRV hybrid did not get great reviews on performance. Pretty sad my 10-year-old car may actually have quicker pickup than the new one. I need that on the highway.
True
I have a 1994 Honda Accord EX sedan with the 5-speed manual. The car still look's great and I love the manual. I will never sell this car. It's getting harder and
harder to find a Manual accord. (Save the manuals)!
@@mikebingham9700 and save the ice also
Save the Manuals!
Honda needs to make the electric motor stronger if it's forcing the hybrid on us. Though the torque for the hybrid ain't bad
This guy is the display cleaner guys worst nightmare 😊
Honda finally learned to design some good looker cars.
I recently drove a 2021 GMC terrain while my 21 toyota rav4 was being repaired, the gmc has a 1.5 L engine that was slow AF and very sluggish compared to my Rav4, and the fuel economy was terrible, ,like 23 MPG AVG while my rav4 gives me a solid 27 MPG on a 2.5L engine and fully automatic transmission
Sorry, I’ll take the Acura TLX all day (and I did) and i’m a long time Accord fan. This gimped engine along with the Chevy Cavalier looks is a serious disappointment. Also don’t get me started on that civic-esque honeycomb dashboard. The previous Accord design inside and out is far superior.
thoughts on this vs the Integra?
I like the current design much better. Now I really want an Acura haha
I saw one and it seem so unified and a harmony of design. But..... does it have the same "oil dilution" issues with the 1.5 liter engine. ? ? ?
I luv the new design! Much better than the previous. Clean, classy and classic. I'm guessing your age is 41?
40!
@@ACCELER8TV I was close,im 41 and figured we are the same age lol.
Road noise and ride comfort is an area I hope Honda improved upon.
on its left one is accord too? sport trim thing?
Why they don't put a passenger wireless charger? How many times do you travel with a passenger? Most of time you are solo driver. The car looks nice, but price will be steep, 40G. Adding few options and you will be at, out of door, 42-45 grands.
For consumers to accept the new reality is hard, but it will take a time to get use to that.
Very nice and informative review.
why does this gen feels like a step backwards? Why did they do away with the button gear shifter?
Yes, i like Honda ..thanks for info..
You just know the guy who's job is to keep the cars polished at the car show was having fits with all that rubbing of the exterior. LOL
LOL
if u mod the front that will be the game changer for me
I was absolutely in love with the Accord until I test drove one. I took a short 5 mile test drive and I felt a "hot spot" on my butt from the thin seat padding. While I suppose I could just put a pillow in the seat, I ended up going with an Acura Integra. I didn't need the bigger rear seat and I love the hatchback.
So u bought a civic. Lol
Probably wouldn't charge a phone with an Outerbox cover ...Nice review !
Aftermarket tail lights should be fun
@6:55 we all know what you were looking at :P lol
I liked the review more than the car. The 2023 Toyota Prius looks more appealing. This is isn't bad. But the design difference isnt a huge jump. I'm going to check out the 2023 Prius first.
Excellent review my friend.... thanks but no thanks I'll stick with Kia. We will see at the end of next year who sold more Kia or Honda. 😭😭😭
10th gen baby!!
Without question, this new redesign makes it look much sportier than the last generation. At certain angles the front sort of looks like a Mustang.
How? Are you looking at the same car from the previous 🫤
Not even close
Wait did Honda also removed the feature on the climate Ontario that changes color based on the temperature the temperature we put ?
Honda accord from 2018 to 2022- 2.0T 10 speed automatic is the best version from Accord. My question is why Honda discontinue 2.0T ??? will be perfect if Honda keep at least option for 2.0T-10speed.
This 11th generation accord is the best model like 1991 model and will be repeating it the best selling model in 1991 among the Honda car line up.
Outstandingly beautiful car.
How tall are you? Just for a reference for the back seat. Thanks.
Legend says Mike is 5 foot 9 and a half.
It does look beautiful
"Don't buy the Acura TLX" also... "The V6 and 2.0 Turbo option are no longer available" soooo it'll be TLX for me...
Did they add fog lights? Cause it looks blam. I really love the interior and tech that comes with it. Improvement on The rear lights but should of had a dual exhaust
Yeah the front end looks incomplete without fog lights. But luckily the sport model will get quad exhaust outlets and rear diffuser, which is weird considering the 2.0t didn't get that but a hybrid will lol.
@@kyron2092 where did you see this? Only the sport L version gets a rear diffuser though, not the normal sport
A lot of brands are moving away from adding fog lights because newer LED lights are so bright and light up the road so much better. At least... that's what they say.
Companies need to realize that most people don't use fog lights for fog lol, it's mainly just for looks because most cars look better with them and it looks less like a base model.
@@samlung2724 if companies wanna ommit fog lights, I can be semi ok with that. They should at least give us accent lighting like Toyota does with the Corolla. Without extra lighting, the front fascia looks incomplete
Im waaaay past buying 204 hp cars anymore... even 300 isnt enough for me. TLX would be more my cup of tea, in the S model of course... Never looked at one though, but an accord definitely doesnt appeal to me. Im more in the category of buying a M5, but reliability worries me... why cant you get a 600 hp reliable car? Would be awesome if you could !!
The m5 is more reliable than cx-5 definitely won't get any issues from it
Looking good
Took out the fog lights, reduced the horse power smh. Car looks good but lacks the aggression that the 10th generation had. Rear lights are beautifully done. Interior is definitely an improvement. Overall the new honda is ok but it does not look better than the previous gen. I’m interested to see how ppl will mod this car tho
1. Fog lights are useless! 2. It’s a honda not bmw
Best tipu service manager
beautiful design except for that black trim along the bottom, shame about the 2.0t though
I suspect this new Accord has a reduced power train as not to step on the TLX sales, as many components are similar under the hood. Can't wait for the TLX redesign around 24/25 to see output and advancements.
The tech in this new Accord is nice, but some might not like the 1.5 liter. Need that 2.0 liter back.
Bringing back the Coupe and the 2.0 would have been nice, I've given up on the V6!
The coupe 🔥
yesss ittss really beautiful ❤
If the dealers werent screwing us with markups and manufacturers were able to deliver like it was pre covid, id wait for the accord n pilot. And perhaps get the new z too for the weekend car.
I love it but there is not enough difference between this and the 10th gen Accord. I couldn't justify the trade up. I'm pretty sure Honda kept the small engine in the Accord to force people into the Acura brand since those cars actually have the bigger, better engines.
Oooh he'll no they trolling us no way bro looks like a outdoor cooler....
looks nicer on the inside than the outside imo.
RIP GOAT ACCORD 2018-2022
I bet they put it in Pilot for 2024. So silly that a 7 seat suv comes with 7”
