Jesse Plemons was so haunting in his brief role that I was shocked to learn he was a last minute replacement.
He can play the creepiest character ever
You said dude !
I dont know how but his acting manages to hit close to home to every creep I have met in real life
He probably showed up on set to support his wife and Garland was like "hey, wanna jump in here? No, that's fine, just wear what you're already wearing."
That was a very chilling scene.
I don’t blame the creator for not getting too bogged down in the actual American politics. Nobody likes getting shot.
Exactly. And people are so polarized it wouldn't matter what he would have said, they'd freak out and use it in a divisive manner.
People are divided enough over this movie already. The irony
Getting Epsteined
@@harijotkhalsa9496
That's proving his point honestly.
If he actually politicized it, it could have actually caused a Civil War
What's impressive about Jesse Plemons is that even though he often plays villains, they're never the _same_ villains. He's a cold sociopath in Breaking Bad, a blank-faced bureaucrat in Judas and the Black Messiah, and an aggrieved nerd in Black Mirror.
lol. Good call. They're all completely different, right?!
He's a wonderful actor!
That's impressive? Seems like just...Doing the jobs given to him.
He was also friendly in Breaking Bad.
He also just showed up because he was visiting his wife on set, the director was beefing with the guy who was supposed to to be the soldier but went with plemons on Kirsten Dunst suggestion
"I hate these filthy Neutrals, Kif. With enemies you know where they stand but with Neutrals, who knows? It sickens me." -Zapp Brannigan
What is it that makes a man turn neutral? Greed? Lust for power? Or were they just born with a heart filled with *beige* neutrality?
All I know is my gut says "maybe".
This is what liberals actually believe.
If I don’t survive, tell my wife “hello”.
I play both sides, that way I always come out on top.
Texas and California being allies still trips me out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yeah never gonna happen, what were they thinking
And they never explained it. I swear Garland was trolling.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend, I guess?
That's the point, it's intentional, it's a clear message just from that the real world reasons for division don't matter here, the reasons don't matter. It's just to show the result
Yeah, that map of the factions is wild.
Teasing Jesse Plymons in the thumbnail even though his screentime in this trailer and the movie combined is about 3 minutes long - now that's a real trailer move.
It’s way longer. That scene lasts for at least 10 minutes. And probably the best scene in the movie
Just watching that cameo was worth the process of admission.
3 minutes well spent. He was terrifying in that scene
@@MrJimheeren the guy is absolutely brilliant. can't wait for a director who casts him in a typecast role like this that will give him a deserved oscar
He stole the movie in just one scene.
Whoever came up with "Coup There It Is" deserves a raise and a promotion.
I almost spilled my tea, bad time to take a sip XD
But it only works at all if you can't pronounce coup.

BREAK OUT BREAK OUT!!
They really nailed that part. It got more and more intense the closer they got, I couldn't look away. And then it was just over.
Texas and California make perfect sense.
The two states with the most Jack-in-the-Box locations.
That foam headed mascot guy was behind it all….
Texas == 5 letters; California == 10 letters. Both, clearly, multiples of 5, so, clearly must align together......
see jack in the box vs america would have been a better title and would have made more sense than this garbage
Don't you talk about Jack like that. When he takes over the country, we will have socialism for the rich and capitalism for the poor. We will call it iCommunism.

Civil War, aka “no one’s wrong but everyone’s wrong so let’s have a war over no specific topic” Lmao
I was really disappointed when the reviews came out. I might watch it eventually, but it doesn't sound like it has much to offer me. The movie feels like a waste of a premise. Pretty yet pointless action scenes are boring.
@@196cupcake”waste of premise” is a good way to put it. I kinda get what they were trying to do by solely focusing on the press’ perspective, but not giving us any context for the war made everything seem so meaningless and we had no sense of closure. Like in the end they kill [insert spoiler here] but I’ve been given zero reason to care. Did the war end after that? Who won?
@@justinrodgers9928I think that that’s kind of the point, there is no meaning, there is no closure, the senseless violence doesn’t get wrapped up in a neat bow. I agree though, parts of the movie felt directionless.
To be fair, we did not elect Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson PM when he was stuck on that zip line. We did it after. Oh, that is worse isn’t it…..

Instead of Team Blue vs Team Red, they focus on how dehumanizing, terrifying, and disgusting war is. I appreciate that.
Unfortunately, you are in ~10% of the audience who gets the message. The other 90% are making fun of their possible future.
This is the weakest anti war movie I have ever seen. There’s so many that do it better, and have better plot and setting. 1917 for example. All quiet on the western front. Way more poignant. This movie sucked.
Geography is the least of the questions I have about California and Texas teaming up.
end credit of Nick Offerman with reference to parks and rec. is so good. best work. loved it
Bacon and eggs scene from Parks and Rec if anyone is curious.
"Civil War, this time without Iron Man." Still no Thor either.😢
I was thinking "Scoop: There it Is" because this sounds like it's really a movie about journalism during war
It 100% is. This is a movie about war correspondents, with an emphasis on the photogs. It could have taken place in South America, or Sub-Saharan Africa, or the Middle East, or Southeast Asia, in a real or imagined country, in a real or fictionalized war. That part is pretty irrelevant. Instead, it took place in a fictionalized US, which was probably a good decision because it gave it a lot more buzz than it would have otherwise gotten.

I kind of liked that the movie didn't take any explicit sides or talked about any specific issues. Also love Jesse Plemons.
I feel like doing so neutered the whole concept they were going with. We have this big striking imagery in all the advertisements, and the name CIVIL WAR implying it's a film that won't shy away from portraying the just how divided this country is. (A highly militaristic country, and one that still has a good portion of the nation waving the battle flags of the secessionists from the last civil war). And yet rather than an interesting story about the collapse of safety, or showing how a ramping up in polarization lead to this, the actual Civil War aspect of the story feels more like a backdrop to a war road trip movie.
(Also I feel whenever someone says "didn't take any explicit sides", I feel like they're afraid of whatever take showing some uncomfortable truths. Maybe humanizing a type of people that one aggressive side feels is automatically the enemy.)
Coup there it is, was worth sitting through this whole video for. And the van down by the river was just icing on the cake.
Jesse Plemons needs to stop starring in psychopath roles 😂 He is always so amazing on screen we might get real close to failing to seperate the actor from the role hehehe.

Outside of the politics not making sense, this film is also kinda tame. It's not bad by any means, it's just not what I wanted. I've been intrigued by a modern American Civil War for a long time, and nothing has scratched my itch outside of an excellent podcast called "It Can Happen Here". Which has a more terrifyingly plausible war that's more complex.

I object...Australia has some really weird things. Like that one time a Prime Minister was dragged out to sea and disappeared, and it took them a bit to notice...perhaps on purpose depending on how conspiracy theorist you want to be.
on purpose cause he swam out into the ocean by his own free will because thats how suicide by drowning in the ocean works
Jesus. That's downright USSR.
Didn't they name a swimming pool after him?
The Australian Prime Minister position was basically a revolving door for the past decade. It's only been the last bit that we've actually had a singular prime minister STAY in power.
THAT'S what you consider weird about Aussie politics? What about the time the Libs tried banning adult content that featured A-cup actresses because they believed it encouraged paedophilia? Or the time Gogh Whitlam got deposed by the US because he didn't bend over for the Seppos?
This channel is why I knew I had to watch the movie first and then comeback for a good laugh!
It's about the death and distrust. It's showing us war that we may be used to seeing overseas, tactics and atrocities we're used to seeing overseas, but in our towns and cities. It may not touch on politics, but historically when a nation rises up to overthrow a tyrant (Iran, Russia, France, etc) politics don't matter until after he's out of power or dead.

The most unrealistic part of this movie is Texas and California working together.
Not that unrealistic considering all the Californians moving to Texas
There can be practical rather than ideological reasons for Texas and California to cooperate if the federal government falls apart. However, we don't really have anything to go on to discern anyone's motives for what they do in the film. It's not a big picture perspective.
Cracks me up how the poorly organized soldiers somehow overwhelmed the Secret Service, the most elite protective force in the world, and didn't lose a single person.
